John Canion’s journey into nursing began in college as he sought a sustainable and meaningful career. Starting as a clinical nurse, he felt a calling to take on greater responsibility for patient care and earned his degree as a family nurse practitioner. However, when John transitioned to working in a high-volume emergency department, he quickly realized that the standard NP degree didn’t fully prepare him for the challenges of acute care medicine.
