7,500km cycled across North America (cycling around the world update #6)
I’m trying to become the first transgender person to cycle around the world. I made it to the end of the first leg of my journey, cycling 7,500km from Vancouver to Montreal, and now I’m headed to Europe. But I couldn’t escape North America without a few last mishaps at the airport.

I’m trying to become the first transgender person to cycle around the world. I got hit by a car, had my gear infested by rollie pollies, got visited by raccoons, and had to source a bunch of broken bike parts to fix my bike. I’m still en route. Let’s talk about it. Note: I am currently posting behind schedule. If you have advice, recommendations or a place to stay please check and reach me on I...

It’s been 5 weeks since I set off to try to become the first transgender person to cycle around the world. In this update I head into Colorado, and over the highest paved road in North America, and my entire world cycling route. Note: I am currently posting behind schedule by quite a bit as I got hit by a car in Iowa. If you have advice, recommendations or a place to stay please check and reach...

On June 6th I set off to try to become the first transgender person to cycle around the world. In my second and third week of pedalling I rode from Oliver, BC to Ennis, Montana, USA. Along the way I joined the Trans Canada Trail, the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, and the Trans American cycle route. This one’s a double sized update just to catch up - it’s been done for a week or so but I’ve ...

On June 6th I set off to try to become the first transgender person to cycle around the world. My first stop was Vancouver, and after a few tech issues and a few new friends I rode on for my first 500km, following the Trans Canada Trail and Kettle Valley Trail. Note: I am currently posting almost a week behind schedule and am at 1,030km. If you have advice, recommendations or a place to stay pl...

I'm bikepacking around the world. Let's talk about the gear, and the bike. But let's try a new type of gear check: one where I don't do free marketing for the outdoor industry by mentioning every single brand. Do hope u start to find some peace n happiness on the road..keep with it...all the best from the UK x
Just a constructive suggestion; could you hold the mike steady near your mouth, that way the sound will be more consistent. 🙂
oh man, what a frustrating series of events. I can't imagine what it must have been like to try and roll with each of those unexpected things! I'm sorry the bulk of US didn't give you the kindness you deserve, but I'm excited for you and your time in Glasgow, it's lovely! Looking forward to what's next! Also lol I love the hose cam, it's like I WAS the hose
understood, enjoy the journey ;<))
So glad I have happened across this channel .
You'll have to make it to the west coast if you want to get past MAGA land. We have the opposite problem out here lol. Plus, canyonlands.. man if you're biking around the world and canyonlands/grand escalante/grand canyon aren't on your list, you definitely need to add em if possible! I've been all over the USA, done a lot of traveling, there isn't another spot as grand, ancient and beautiful as that region of the country. Basically anywhere in the box between yellowstone and the grand canyon, the western rockies to las vegas. check it out on google maps, you can see that region from space and its totally, totally worth a side trip.
So sad you don’t feel safe to approach folk in the Midwest, they’ve lost the plot, I’m sure Canada will be more tiz a lovely place. Spike Milligan said if we don’t make plans nothing can go wrong, sit back and just observe what happens next, wishing you safe travels and a gentle tail wind
I love that you have a little bucket full of chicken nuggets when you ride.😂
have you already been through Pittsburgh?!?! I’d love to meet you
So sorry I missed this! Was in Pittsburgh at the time of posting I think!
Great to see you back, hope the rest of the trip goes smoothly! Still can't believe a bike shop would put on a tire without any sealant lol.
In May I got sideswiped by an SUV. Broke my collarbone and a couple ribs, and I only mangled a pedal and bent a crank. Her insurance company said her vehicle wasn't worth the cost of the repairs so they totalled it. How many cyclists can say they took out an SUV? Anyway, Im glad you pulled through ok. Be safe out there, my friend!
That’s epic! Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re on the mend!
Hi Robbie, Sorry to hear about the car colission, but glad that you are feeling a little better now. Take care of yourself. 3 stooges Neil.
Great to see you're ok! It would be interesting to see what you find in those dumpsters 😃
This is great, but if there's anything you can do to improve the sound / reduce the background noise it would be even better. 🙂
Don’t let this get you down. This will be a great story down the road and sometimes embracing the struggle is the adventure🤖
Wow quite the adventure! Well done to you. Cheers
Full on! Glad to hear you are ok. Hope you have a few more chill days ahead
thanks Robbie, pleased you are OK, great stuff
I am rooting for you! Glad you got a new fork.
Sounds like a tough stint Robbie. Thanks for sharing the ups, downs and headwinds of your journey with us
I love your videos. I can tell you’re not American though. You got different programming than we did.
Free tinsssss
This is awesome, Robbie! Such excellent storytelling.
Hi Robbie, I think what your doing is awesome!Im sure you'll hit 1000 subs before you know it🎉
I hope you and your bike are OK from the car accident.
I like your new video style. And, you can pack your bicycle at the same time, in this case 😀
Hell yeah Robbie! Colorado looks amazing.
Hi Robbie, you are right about the roadies. 😂 . Can you tell me what a transgender person is ? It doesn't seem like you reply to you messages, but maybe in the future you will. Regards, Neil.
a person whose gender identity is different from the sex they were assigned at birth. ps I love your profile photo
Good afternoon from Sweden, regards to you thinking that my profile picture is cool … you are either extremely kind, extremely blind, or perhaps both.🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for the explanation of transgender, I googled it, but the answer was pretty vague. What you’re doing is amazing, you can be extremely proud of yourself, even if you decided to quit today, you’re awesome!!! Look after yourself, and I will keep following your journey. Neil.
@@neilwalton4474 LOL thanks. I was goin' to say more like Larry in the Three Stooges but with that crazy hair. Cheers ;<)
Hello, this is Chi. It was a pleasure meeting you and I will be checking in on your progress!
It was great to meet you too Chi! ☺️
I really liked the format of this video! The narration from the bike while pedaling was a nice change, I didn't find the cars driving past too distracting
Really refreshing perspective and take on bikepacking! It's nice to see a normal person's stuff and not just a bunch of brand-new, sponsored kit.
It's great to be able to witness your trip
Hi Robbie, good job cycling around the world. I've watched your video's, you have much experience with touring . In one of your video's you talk about drive trains, and having tried them all. You even say that you've had problems with all of them, shimano, sram, and Rohloff. What made you choose the Rohloff hub for this trip ? I'm asking you because I also want to cycle the world, hopefully you will have time to reply ? Kind regards, Neil.
Hey Neil! They all have their pros and cons but a Rohloff lasts much longer and generally fails gracefully - as in you can usually find opportunities to pedal for a bit longer before it’s completely broken because it’s designed that way, whereas if your derailleur bends or snaps, chances are you need to buy a new one immediately, and you may or may not successfully get it to single speed depending on what frame and cassette you have
"Interesting animal" lol, that's high praise!
Also what a haul from that dumpster!!
I want more BOT and dumpster content!!
Two genders, that's not being hateful or bigotry. It sounds like you are the one who is obsessed with trying to make others accept transgenderism. Its not a phobia to not accept something other than male or female. You seem to judge conservatives, yet don't like to be judged yourself. That is hypocrisy. Yet you don't want to admit that. Just speaking real talk, which is not terrible opinions. To describe that in that way shows your judgmental biased. Once again, hypocrisy.
Keep the weird food updates comin!
Cheering you on from NYC! Love your ethos on gear/packing, esp the rain shorts
I enjoyed the stories and listening to your perspective! I hope that you are enjoying the US and the ride. Do you have a mirror for your bike? Stay safe and good luck!
No mirror for now but I’ll get one for India!
good luck my friend!!!
Love the video and good luck on the rest of your journey!
Just discovered your channel😀. I’m enjoying it! I live in Lander- sure would have been cool to have seen you pass through and ride a few miles with you. Yup, it’s pronounced “Do-boyz” lol. Enjoy your journey!
Just subscribed! Trans pride!! 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️
Watching your videos always puts a smile on my face! Keep it up mate, you got this :)
Wooo!
Hell yeah!!
i love this! so exciting hearing about your journey. wish you safe travels, cheers!
Doing great! You got this
Nice set up. I also found that merino gear does not wear well. but this year I bought some smart wool, merino blended with synthetics. These have the benefit of wool, but are harder wearing. I carry my passport in a small ziploc bag when I trave. I also carry photocopies of my important documents in a different pannier/bag to my original docs.
You're doing grand! In a few weeks you'll be doing this like a pro. I'm looking forward to following your adventures. :)
Let me know when you are close to Montréal. We may be able to accommodate you :)
Thank you so much! I’ve got a couple friends in Montréal but will let you know!
