2021 Mach 1 Mustang - Ozark International Raceway - MCA Track Weekend - 2:49 Lap
My wife and I had an opportunity to do a track weekend at Ozark International Raceway for the first time over Memorial Day Weekend 2023 with some great people. This 2:49 lap is the quickest lap time I managed to record. Check out ruclips.net/video/mSoxnmlXqZc/видео.html for a multicam video of some additional laps highlighting this awesome track.

I tried out a new multicam setup during a few sessions at the 2023 MCA Ozark track weekend, including this session where my wife (who also tracks our mustangs) is the passenger. I think the multicam angles did a great job highlighting the elevation changes and compression zones that make this track so awesome! See one of my quicker laps here: ruclips.net/video/cs_OaUvQWtk/видео.html As a note -...

This is my first track weekend with this particular car. It was my daily driver for 9 years and over the past few years I have been restoring it and building it up for track duty. Adjusting to the solid rear axle was fun! Build thread on the car: trackmustangsonline.com/threads/2011-pandoras-box-s197.17630/

This is a video editing experiment I undertook to make use of some excellent trackside footage that Hart Photography captured during the Driver's Edge HPDE weekend at MSR Houston in June 2022. This is a mix of trackside footage captured throughout the weekend over 8 sessions with in-car footage from one of my better laps mixed in to fill the gaps. My goal was to piece together an entire lap of ...

Car is now running Continental Extreme Contact Force Tires with about 4 hours of track time on them at the time of this video. It was a very hot track weekend! 1:49 was the best I could pull off this go around. Still plenty of work to do with opening up some turns and gaining confidence with entry speed.

One of the quicker laps from my September 2021 track weekend at MSR Houston without traffic. Still trying out a few adjustments and chasing sub 1:49 lap times at this track which didn't happen this go around, but I did get more consistent lower lap times overall. No significant performance changes have been made to the car at this time.

New personal best during lap 1 after a warmup lap. Still working out some kinks and learning to manage/adjust all around to the increased speeds being carried in the straights. Slowly getting more comfortable with slip angle. No further changes to the car at this time. Still on Michelin PS4S tires.

What kind of springs are you running? Are you set to a more aggressive camber for this track?
Can I use 2-3 seconds of this video?
I used to beat the crap out of my 2011 GT at MSRH, TWS, MSRC, and Hallet. 5k track miles and not a single issue with it. Sold it for a Boss and had tons of issues with that car.
Smooth driving
What are you using to collect vehicle data ???
Nice runs man, well done. Great sounding car to boot! Was debating hard between a Mach1 or an FL5 Type R. In the end the Type R won out but still got me looking at Mach1's.
That roller coaster at 1:20 must feel amazing, huh!? Wish I could have joined you...that track is superb!
Wow !Good run! You got better each time. Thanks for the ride along. You make me want to get my Mach1 right away! Saving up for one. 😁👍
Thanks!
Nice driving. love the added camera angles.....looks like a real stomach catcher course.
Great job improved on every lap. From a 1:59 down to a 1:52 . Nice
Wow, amazing driving skills and what a car! As you can see from my channel, I love the Mach 1
wow, looks so weird driving the other direction but great driving !
Excellent run, my sir! I see you are carrying a lot more speed everywhere!
What!! Where the music?
You just keep getting faster and faster my man!
Nice run. Is the car mostly stock?
Thanks! The car is 100% stock drivetrain aside from an air oil cooler mounted up front. The suspension has been replaced with the Ford Performance Track setup, and also vorshlag camber plates.
Awesome video. Mach 1 coming near you soon.
Nice lap. You're a member?
Yes I became a member over the summer at MSRH!
How's the RE-71RS holding up for track day? great run!
So far, so good! They definitely require a few laps to get up to temp. Structurally, they seem to be wearing well considering how rough the pavement at MSRH is.
@@raidernixon awesome. I just bought a set that I have been using as AX tires but maybe i will take it to the track sometime to get some lap lol
Yeah baby!!!
Nice smooth lap and car sounds amazing.
amazing driving. clean line and carrying speed through everything
Great run bro. Car sounds beast
Thanks man! It was great seeing you out there. I see you had a heck of a run too - keep it up!
Awesome driving! And that glass roof automatically beats all in style points!
Much appreciated! The glass roof was a must have when I ordered the car in 2010. I don't see very many of them around these days.
@@raidernixon that car is truly gorgeous! And the sound inside, oh the sound is so mellow inside. Relaxing actually!
Awesome video, Robert!
yeah buddy!
Thanks for the ride! Makes me want to get out there an try it. Your Stang sounds good! 👍🏻
Come on out anytime! check out the Driver's Edge events (thedriversedge.net/). It is highly addictive so consider yourself warned. This car is running the Roush exhaust system (axle back)
Sounds amazing
Awesome video! I plan on hitting up ECR next year.
This should make it to the classroom material!
Sorry you had to lift for that pass!
No problem at all...I was having fun with the experience! (I really like your car by the way, I need to come check it out next time)
Are you an instructor out there? I’ll be there next weekend trying to get the instructor with the Mach1. Also my cyl head temps running around 230 do you run with the grill blanks open?
@@Mach1chassis4139 Hey man sorry for the delay. I am not an instructor. I might be out there this coming weekend, but will have my Black 2011 Mustang GT track build out for the first time (if I can make it). With regards to the grill blanks, I do not run with them open, and actually was confirmed to me from a source at Ford close to the Mach 1 project that opening the blanks does nothing to enhance cooling. If you have an A10, your car will likely run a bit hotter as you will be riding in the higher RPM ranges longer.
That should have been a 1:48 lap without the traffic! It's been a while since I've been to the track. Glad you are still going strong there!
Liking the control my man!
what are you using for data acquisition?
What's the app / hardware you use for the video with data? Nice driving too! See y'all again soon I hope.
Nice...really liked seeing a Mach 1 pass a Corvette on a track!
ECR is always a good time! Need to track out more and brake later on a lot of those turns, especially 5, 10 and 15.
have you run at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson? or COTA?
Not yet - hoping to make it out to both of those tracks in 2022!
where did u buy the gurney flap, i want a legit source
Gurney flap was purchased through Autonation Ford White Bear Lake. Part number is KR3Z-6344210-AB
Hi, where did you buy all of the parts to recreate the Handling package? I am also very interested in converting my car to this option. I want to start with front splitter and rear wing with Gurney flap ;)
I ordered all of the parts through a Ford dealership, Parts list is on my build thread here: trackmustangsonline.com/threads/2021-ford-mustang-mach-1.17423/
@@raidernixon I thought that I will have to buy everything here but the prices are extremely high! How much you paid for the splitter and rear wing? www.autoware.com.au/shop/ford-mustang/exterior-ford-mustang/exterior-accessories/2021-mach1-handling-package-wheels/
Can't wait to get my jet gray preformance Mach1. Keep making great videos. 👍🏻
Is that Blairs video? Gonna need to to do that next TDE! You can see the body roll really well. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, you can see the roll. But it's not that bad at all, especially for a car that's apparently on a 100% OE suspension. Norm
Yup, this was Blair's work - he did a great job. He captured a bunch of small videos and I merged some of them together to try to follow the order of the track.
Good lookin run
Is that 8 banger ?
nice and smooth....the tires were hot and talking to ya lap5+ easier to hear your in your car than mine.
Good to see you out there!
Is this with a manual Mach1? I just got mine 3 days ago and opted for the auto, I dont race on the track but have heard good and bad things about both
Hi Ken, Yes this is a manual Mach 1. I have nothing bad to say about the manual yet...it is one of my favorite things about the car to be honest. If I get tired of manual, the rev match feature is really nice and removes a majority of the burdon.
@@raidernixon I debated over the two for awhile, but don't take it to the track, yet and have heard good things about the auto for track use to and in track mode it does a great job at keeping the car at redline, maybe one day I will find out
So you have a non-handling package version and bought parts to convert it?
That is correct. The car started off as a base model and now has the springs, stabilizer bar, wheels, splitter, spoiler, fender molding and mud guards from the handling package variant. I elected to go with vorshlag adjustable camber plates rather than ford's camber plates (which are not as easy to adjust in my opinion).
@@raidernixon Hi again, I took my Mach 1 from the dealership in Poland on Friday. I already did 800 miles on it and I've noticed two disturbing things about the Tremec transmission. Here I want to point out that all my 11 years of experience in driving cars were on sticks, so we can assume that I'm changing gears properly. Issue number one. All of the up-shifts and light pulls after that are great. Transmission works perfectly. Nevertheless, changing from first gear into second between 2K to 3,5K RPM's on the second gear, there is some kind of metallic rattling sound from the transmission. When with my index and middle finger I raise a little this "hood" on gear lever (necessary to put into reverse) the ratling sound goes away instantly. Is it possible that this is only some kind of resonation from the engine or should I be more worried? Issue number two. All of the downshifts with the rev-matching procedure when the car is rolling like 20-30 mph (I am doing this "experiment" at this speed so the wind noise is very low) have a short metallic friction sound. I don't mean that normal pleasant metallic click when the gear is changed it's always there but with that normal clicking sound, there is also another strange noise. It is like an electric power driller when you press the trigger for one second. That type of sound... The Clutch is pressed all the way down. This is my first competitive transmission, maybe I am not used to that they are louder than normal manuals, like in my 1.5 liter focus EcoBoost. Let me know what are your experience from driving this car in lower speed in the city? Best Regards
Hello @@NokturNPolska I have not experienced any of the symptoms or noises that you are describing in my Mach 1. If I were you I would take the car back to your Ford dealership so that they can investigate and document the symptoms. The fact that the rattle noise is RPM and gear specific is odd. Previous model years (2015 - 2017) have had documented rattling issues due to loose cables in the transmission tunnel, an older design of engine/transmission plate that had no rubber coating on it, and even loose baffles in the center resonator. None of these proved to be destructive, but were quite annoying and fixable. If you don't want to go to the dealership yet, I would try posting your symptoms on the Mustang6g.com Mach 1 forum to see if anyone else has experienced this.
@@raidernixon how mamy miles do you have? Maybe it is related to break in period... Did you change transmision fluid?
@@NokturNPolska Right now it is at almost 1,900 miles. Nearly 800 to 900 of those are track miles. I broke this car in on the track - It had only 50 miles on it when I first tracked it and a majority of the first 500 miles on it where on the track. It still has the original factory transmission fluid. I never heard any strange sounds even during the initial mileage.
Looks like some good fun was had!
Very nice times
