LEGO Stop Motion: 10497 Galaxy Explorer Tribute
In 1979, LEGO released one of their most iconic set, classic space set 497/928 the Galaxy Explorer. In 2019 its 40 years anniversary, I made a tribute video for it. In 2022, LEGO released the reimagined version of it. I felt compelled to remake the tribute video with the new ship.

LEGO (clutch based) limited slip differential with a piece of paper, how well does that work?

Super small 8-speed gearbox in LEGO technic

Torsen differential on a steering double wishbone suspension in LEGO technic
Просмотров 6 тыс.Год назад
The Lego technic versions of the Torsen differentials tend to be quite wide. Its length is limited by the use of two back to back worm gears. However, it is a better option than using a differential lock on 4WD vehicles. More likely it will be one of the few (if not the only) limited slip differential options available. So I tried to fit it in a 5 stud wide suspension system, trying to keep the...

      It is a reduction gearbox, so at least at first gear, it should multiply torque quite a bit. If that's still not enough torque, I'd consider replacing the 12T-20T pairs of gears with 8T-24T pairs, which will further multiply torque (at the expense of speed)

    I’m building a 6x6 LEGO RC, and these seem to be the best differentials around. I plan on using them for the differentials FOR each pair of wheels, but I’m a bit stuck when it comes to the two differentials that will go in between the pairs themselves (on the driveshaft). Will these work? And do I just get rid of the gear big gear on the end and connect the axles coming out each end to the drive shaft? Would that effectiveAly distribute the torque to the different pairs of wheels?

    • @1plaintext
      @1plaintext Год назад

      Thanks for watching. I am not sure you want to get rid of the crown gear. I think of a differential as either 1 input 2 output or 2 input 1 output. In vehicles, the crown gear takes the input, and the 2 side gears transmit the output. Assuming all 6 wheels will travel slightly different distances (uneven terrain), I would think you want to split 1 input into 6 outputs (3 axles will take 3 inputs, hence 2 crown gears). Perhaps something like a motor drives the crown gear of the center diff1, one side gear of center diff1 drives (diff on) axle1, and the other side gear drives crown gear of center diff2, where side gears of center diff2 drive the (diffs on the) remaining axles?
