NHL 25 will be the first EA hockey game I haven't bought since 2002.

100%. Agree. I can tell you know what your talking about by the things you pointed out 23 was a better game by far The physics are better This game has become too arcade in 24. With too much garbage on the ice energy meter, skill icon , exhaust engine , icon passing…. Horrible. The hitting is off pulling back and pushing fwd any lag and you’re screwed. The mis animation is ridiculous. But the worst thing was changing the buttons at all. They destroyed the muscle memory of people who play the game alot And not having the ability to switch to classic button settings therefore removing the ability to half turn either direction you choose by hitting L2 and X To half turn left. And L2 to half turn right Makes a huge difference and took the finesse out of the game for dedicated players of 10 years or more New players dont know or understand why the new version didn’t deliver. If you change the physics of the game ok. But dont change the buttons to make it easier for newbies there isn’t any reason for a 10 year elite club to be loosing to players who just started playing. Or rather i shouldn’t be the newb on a game i have played for 14 years

I cannot believe this is the product of a full year's worth of work. For the first time in my life since NHL 97 I will not be purchasing the game. Not now, not on black Friday, and will not be downloading when it becomes free to play.

The real problem with NHL from EA is what you show in the intro. People dont care that much about customizing or game modes like ones or threes. They can be fun but at the end of the day they wanna play a few games and then go to sleep. The real problem, and only one as far as I can see, is the rigged and scripted results of the games. Half the games results are bullshit. Whatever they call icetilt is real and obvious. How can you dominate a team 50-10 on shots and 9:00min vs 2:00 on Attack only to lose 3-0 on 3 garbage goals that you can see in the intro or your video. You would think these goals are few and far between but no. They happen more often then nice and legit goals. Icetilt is very simple to see. I get icetilted all the time, result: my team dominate outrageously and lose in OT on a CPU goal, usually my own CPU D scoring on my own goalie. You wanna know if you are tilted...wherever position you will play the Center will not win faceoffs(even the best at it). Wether its you taking faceoff with 95 stats or whoever with 95 stats will lose 99% of faceoffs. How much sense does that make that faceoffs are always like 97% vs 3%. No league in the world does a team win 97% faceoffs even with the best faceoff taker in the world. Anyway, game has been shit since 2013 and not for the graphics, gameplay, modes, pay, passes, hut, hockey cards packs but ONLY BECAUSE OF ICETILT AKA SCRIPTING AKA DYNAMIC DIFFICULTY AKA EA BULLSHIT

Make dump and chase an actual thing. Online play is broken. The player base is so small that you play with the same people who always have the same exact builds. And human goalies are just… it never works out anymore. I love the clips you used in this video as well. And you hit so many good points. I used to play EASHL so much, it has not gotten any better

I think alot of the issues regarding gameplay could be solved with a simple "Use more buttons", triangle (or Y) shouldnt be 4 different actions

The funny bounces in Chel do suck and they do happen in the real NHL but not as often i agree, you also have to remember 2 things, one it’s a video game it’s not gonna be real life similarity with a complex game like hockey let alone code it. 2, we play hundreds and some even thousands of game in a season, it’s gonna be more common when we play 10x more games than they do in a season. Never switched to newer gen so I was hoping this game would motivate me to buy the new gen and new game but sadly I'm not super impressed with what was shown so far...

I'm fine with the gameplay, more annoyed about the store, customization, logos things like this. Let us do what we want like every other sports game, and put face scans in the game.

I agree with custom arenas needing an over haul, when I see on the screens say go team go with a generic black, white and gray background it's bland and dumb same goes with the crowd just saying go team go for custom teams and center ice just being the team logo. I will use a team that I make the Cleveland Hounds as and example I want to see the words First Energy Center some where on the ice, I want to hear the crowd get hyped and say let's go Hounds or go Hounds go, I want the screens that wrap around the arena show goal or let's go Hounds with the team colors on them, I want to see them take the ice though a dog head with the announcer saying here are your Cleveland Hounds like they would at an actual NHL home game to get the crowd hyped and when we win a home game I don't want to see we win on the screens I want to see either Hounds win or Cleveland wins with the team colors in the background

because EA doesn't give a flying fuck, play the game and give them money sheep. That's been their long standing attitude. I haven't played CHEL in years, and wont be back until they finally produce a good product again. I've been playing since before NHL 94 and stopped playing at NHL 2014

I agree with most of your points but what people fail to acknoledge is that one of the main isssues of this game is its community, 90% of the players still play pre NHL23 hitting fest braindead northsouth crosscrease forcing OR they do the same 2-3 chessy plays every game, refusing to learn buttons let alone new mechanics like holding R1 or RB for a few secs then R stick up for a huge dump or understanding that you cancrosscheck anybody that posts up in the slot every 2sec as long as you dont move your left stick there is no risk of penalty untill the opponent stops posting up. Or that if you sticklift the opponent your stick needs to be on the same side as his and at the right gap distance aka not too close not too far which promotes gap management, when I acknoledged that mechanic I could then stick lift all game with almost never taking a penalty for it, Im so used to its mechanic that i actively do it to people without the puck, it is not a penalty button. I agree that people that get hit shouldnt get up that quick after big hits but that is a prime example of EA going away from arcade hit fest by drasticly nerfing hitting forcing players to play actual team defense which is great and shows how EA is taking steps towards realism and having a fair counter system, in 25 they said players will stay down longer after big hits especially if they are smaller, smaller players wlll hit less powerfully and biggger players will hit harder, we'll see. Also having the option to either crosscheck or shoulder check is another step towards realism and is very efficient if used at the right moment, for example on D you can use your positioning to box someone out and if you land a good poke or sweep you come in with a crosscheck to then have an easy puck pickup for either you or whoever was supporting you, it sounds hard but its very effective and doesnt take long to master. Almost nobody realizes that there is a good counter system meaning there is a counter to every single thing in the game and that it is actually trying to be more of a simulation in some ways : they actively try to reward east west hockey, it got away from the hitting meta, now its about positinioning taking runs with the carrier while you have support watching mid to create 2 on 1 pockets on D or offense instead of going for 50-50 defensive plays and run and gun offense(thats why alot of players think the game is bad), it promotes cycling, rebound shots, creativty, stick sweeps, tips, screens, support plays, teamwork, etc. You cant beat good teams if you dont play as team now, otherwise you'll only beat bad teams. If you actually watch hockey a lot youd know more than half of goals scored are garbage goals so even that is realistic to a degree but it is ruined by EAs DDA. That being said, I agree that they should show a unified front and seperate EASHL from Chel instead of taking steps towards a more realistc gameplay but adding arcade stuff like fortnite skins in club and such, making it hard for players who do not understand videogame programming(no shame in that) to see the effort towards realism and the conflict of interest within EA to push arcady stuff and of course heavily interfere with the game with DDA(they adjust tuners during games to compensate for the skill gap more than ever). EASHLshould be full simulation no intereference from EA. For example if youre down 0-2 but you control the game but you have 10x more passes than the other team the DDA will still help the opponents by adjusting tuners, thats why there is alot of cheap goals, if DDA wasnt a thing it would be easier for people to see the steps towards realism that the devs taking. Sorry for the long message but I think its important to stay neutral in this situation. Your complains will hopefully push EA to act so please dont stop. Aslo it should be a new game every 2-3 years, they can sell alot of DLC, skins and packs while updating the game to keep the money flowing and it would prevent them from having less than 9months to work on a new game. Also another thing that was new from this year is that they kept updating the game for months after 24s release which was never done before. TLDR : Since NHL23 its a new dev team and you can truly see the effort towards a better game I think, they just have to show a unified front not a mix of arcade and realist concepts mixed together leaving the playerbase confused.

This MIGHT be the first year I skip NHL. And I mean... ever. Bought it EVERY year since '91 and I was so bummed with NHL 24 and the sluggish crap menus. The commentary is crap too.

I imagine visual fight damage isn’t in because of the NHL themselves. I know the NFL has told EA to remove stuff like that so it wouldn’t be far fetched that the NHL does asked for something similar
