Hello everyone hope your all keeping safe and well despite the weather. Today you’ll see me battling on to feed my sheep and lambs and sorting other problems this cold snowy weather brings! Thought we’d seen the last of this white stuff but clearly not. The Massey Ferguson 390 manages to cope well. Thank goodness it’s 4wheel drive! Hopefully it won’t be long until things change and the snowy, c...

Saving our old barn/calf shed
Просмотров 130Месяц назад
Hello everyone and welcome back to another video! Today’s video you’ll see me trying to stop the roof of our very old calf shed from falling in! Sorry I never videoed any part of actually putting the steel up but it was a bit sketchy so your just seeing me finish it off, I know its probably not worth spending much money on a shed that’s very old and not in a good shape but if we can keep it sta...
An afternoon in the life of a young farmer
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.Месяц назад
Hello everyone and todays video is you following me around as I do my afternoon jobs. I will do a proper day in the life but I thought for now I’ll just do an afternoon and the video would be even longer! Since we’re a dairy and I have my few sheep you’ll see how I balance working with both, but the main one on our farm is dairy. Dairy farming is the most hard working types of farming as its ea...

Farm improvements goes from bad to worse to it’ll have to do
Просмотров 980Месяц назад
Hello everyone and welcome to todays video, trying to make some farm improvements goes wrong but ends up good in the end! A pair of old stone gateposts get some tlc by putting them back to what they were intended for by hanging a gate to them, it’s definitely not been easy but what is? Hope you enjoy and thank you to everyone who’s subscribed to me, 35 subscribers means a lot #backbritishfarmin...
Making small improvements to make a big difference
Просмотров 92Месяц назад
Hello everyone and todays video is longer than I expected so I apologise for that, in the spring of this year I added a small door next to our tractor shed to walk through instead of opening the big door just to nip through. Anyway I never added a latch to it until now! I fabricated/welded my own way latching system so don’t be judging my welds! Things didn’t go to plan like they never do but w...

Have you ever thought about a bale shear ?
Yes maybe one day we’d have one. Think it would suit a telehandler better
@jamesmellor8642 we use a tanco one on a 95hp tractor ,you need a weight on but she handles it fine with bales average 800kg , but some makes are much heavier.
I thank you for what you do. 👌
I do like snow for making everywhere look tidy, hides a multitude of sins 😂 Looked like you got it all in hand, even if your hands were freezing!
When your a child you loved snow but when your an adult it’s a hole different ball game🤣🙈
@jamesmellor8642 Yeah, sledging takes on a whole different meaning when you're driving for a start 😂 no one wants to be shooting uncontrollably down hills anymore! You're keeping everyone fed still though 👍🏻
Very laborious system.
A Labour of love!
Poop smoothie
Job well done a gale breaker would be great above the door though they're not cheap
You would have been better off taking the old gate post out and put a new concrete or steel one in. Ultimately, rain will freeze in the cracks of the old limestone one and break it up in time and you will end up replacing it anyway. And limestone is porous so vulnerable anyway. You could sell those old stone gate posts for some gardening type person and what you make on them would buy new concrete posts.
Can't beat creosote! There is some whip on those long bay panels. You could take that out and rigid them up easy enough but I don't know oat about what flex is designed into it etc
Couldn’t agree more! I have thought the same. I’ll see if this makes an improvement and I’ve done some modifications to the other bays I’ll have to get a video of it
do you milk tour own cows?
Yes thank you
Nice Video happy New year to you Regards J.
Thank you! You too!
Nice Video.. i have do the same Job 1000time you make it good... What brand of boots do you wear? Happy new Year Regards J.

Fine video James happy new year to you and your family have a great 2025 👍
Thanks, you too!
Don’t envy ya that job anyday but especially Christmas Day that’s why I got the robots in ‘‘tis the future
Merry Christmas and happy New Year
I was milking 1260 cows twice a day
O yeah i used to do that yup a lot of work and good times
On our small fairy farm we milked on Christmas and delivered retail as usual, always seven day delivery then.
Not many agri manufacturers who paint stuff black are there? Could be on to summat lad!
Excellent video. It’s nice to see the younger generation checking out the farming life
Great job milking the cows
Great video
Merry Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year 🥳 and all the best in 2025
Happy New Year ❤ just find you RUclips channel and like it ❤️ Watching from Sweden 🇸🇪
Thank you so much! Hope you enjoy the content🙂
That’s a smart idea bolting a tool box too the spreader , I might do that with my Hispec , saves cluttering up the cab
Yeh I was thinking of the idea for ages because of the same reason, cluttering the cab🤣
Another great post James. Hope you had a good Christmas. Which do you think is better, slurry or muck?
Thank you,yes we did hope you did too. They both have their pros and cons but I do like muck spreading when everything is running right, no net wrapped round the rota and the wind blowing the right way(away from the cab)
Do you feels better than urban city toxic work
Yes I love being in the countryside thank you
Thanks for the Christmas day reality check! Most people wouldn't be able to move to put in that evening shift after pigging out on their Christmas dinner. Well done to you both 👍🏻 Merry Christmas and have a happy new year
Good video your cattle look really well hope you got Ruby a nice Christmas present for all her hard work take care and happy Christmas to you all 👍
Thank you Paul it means a lot! Haha I’m lucky to have her, happy Christmas to you too pal👍have a good new year
We like a bit of sketchy 😅 in Derbyshire 💪🏻
I’d put in 2 litres in my 540 mchale just for for peace of mind
I’ve added a bit more since as well just to be sure🤣
Great video keep them up 👍
That's what I call meals on wheels 🙂
I use a tipping trailer made out of a 1960s five Tom truck short wheel base, I don,t know where you are I love in the Rosedale valley East Lancs,my tractor is an old Massey 165,your trailer will do job.
