I have no idea how I discovered the hidden village as a kid, much less the secret at the edge of town. A lot of nonsense in this game. But it's fun nonsense. maybe more on the second playthrough than the first tho 😂

The blocks block fireballs. You can place a couple of blocks in front of the other ones and you don't have to worry about getting hit with Triclyde's fireballs while you're behind them. That's an important safety tip for later. Also, notice that this is the first time that the mushroom isn't where the potion is. You may have to look for the most obvious place that they've placed the mushroom.

I didn't want to spoil the kid! I just finished my playthrough this week. Glad you are having fun with this game! I will say though playing this game as an adult has made it one of my favorite Zelda games.

Road runner physics. The squares on the map indicate the presence of an item pickup. 26:30 - Your total energy is in the top left. Each pink box indicates 100 energy. Each time you collect 100 energy you fill one of the grey blocks (energy tanks) and make it pink. As far as what you're missing, you'll figure it out later but you can't complete that room yet.

4:08 - No, you were supposed to shoot the rocks he spits out. They would have given you more missiles and more life. Greying out a special ability turns it off. The ending you get is based off time _and_ the amount of items you collect. It's just time in the first Metroid game. No one gets the best ending on their first try. Here's the story: You foiled the space pirates and the Mother Brain (the brain in the jar in the intro) on this planet. You went to the Metroid home world and took out the metroids and their mutations but saved one of them which is the one that Ridley (the dragon) stole in the opening of this game. Now you're trying to keep the space pirates from repopulating the metroid species. 14:10 - This is a Metroidvania in a nutshell. You needed to get the roundball to fit under the gap to the get the missiles. Then you needed the missiles to open the pink door to get to the bomb powerup. Only then could you use the bombs to clear the passage through this wall. Each ability you find will open new paths to new abilities which in turn open new paths.

Don't let the ending dictate how you play on your first run. If you really enjoy this game play it again and go for times, and even 100% items. 😀Some items are a total pain to get!

You have energy tanks in this game, so the number of health points goes from 01 to 99 but each energy tank holds 99 points. Also, the room with the trap floors, you will go back to it later on in the game when you get a skill that allows you to progress through it.

The Y position is inappropriate.

Some of those rooms where you get items, you could crouch down as a ball behind the statue and find other things in the pipeline

Honestly didn't notice the scan lines were removed until I went back...😅These types of games are EXTRA difficult imo when you're commentating at the same time, so don't feel bad for missing stuff. Great episode!

8:10 The map shows you where you've been and where you haven't. Blue is un explored, pink means you've at least been there before. Also the M on the map means its a Map room, that's where you got the map data for Crateria (that's why you can see the blue, unexplored area).

3:00 That screen is for turning your powerups off and on. They are on by default (yellow). You almost never need to actually use that screen. I'd say just leave it alone. I've seen plenty of blind playthrus where they accidentally turn off a powerup and don't realize it XD
