To Subreddit Chronicles: please don't cut off the story before the final sentence is finished. It's annoying. I am glad it is short--that's why I clicked on it--but at least finished the thought.
Definitely NTA. However, I'm curious how long OP had been married at this point, and whether or not Hubby had ever displayed the Red Flag of being a Mama's Boy previously. Something like this doesn't happen in a vacuum, and I'm guessing OP overlooked other instances of him refusing to cut the apron strings (do women still wear aprons?).
Just go somewhere else without them… even if it’s just for a week 😎
Better idea, go somewhere else without them for the rest of her life.
A lot of people in these comments are taking this way too seriously. Its fucking halloween treats. Its not like they invited them over for a dinner and are refusing to accommodate them.
I feel like a huge part of Halloween is the trading the next day in schools. For examples I'll give you 5 dumdums for 2 boxs of dotts.
As someone with texture issues I would die of shame if other people had to accommodate me. Please, I’m nit a delicate princess who can’t handle getting food I dislike given to me. I’ll just put it away later when I’m back home. Making a big deal out of this is so much worse.
Basically, " I don't care if your child is allergic to nuts , I will give him reese's " .... omg I hate people like this
Why dont the mom and kid just skip the house if they know they dont want chips, like what?
NTA debs can get her kid his special treats herself.
Kay wait, why does the kid not eat the chips? Is it texture wise or allergies or has the mom told the kid they can't eat those? Cause if it's texture or allergies wise, I would accommodate for him cause I have a texture and allergy issues for food too. I understand they have a lot of variation of the chips to pick from but not all kids eat chips. For Halloween this year, am just getting a bucket but the bucket outside and put a note stating pick one only and let the kids portion control.
I suggest not doing this, as one or a few kids will take all the goodies. Two years ago, I even had my favorite Halloween bowl taken. Mark Rober, ex- NASA engineer, did a very cool RUclips video last Halloween related to this topic.
The thing to do if some poor kid comes up hoping for chips is to apologize to the kids, then explain the entitlement of the mom to the kids' parents/guardians. That way EVERYONE will know that the reason their kids didn't get anything from the cool house was a b*tchy mom.
Depending on the disability...yes, yes if its a disability that isn't relatedyou should treat them the same (like being in a wheelchair doesn't affect eating) and the same for most minor disabilities that can be managed well enough (adhd and some types of anxiety are some of those) But a kid with Downs could be unable to eat chips, autistic kids are pretty similar where if they can't eat potato chips then apparently its "oh well!" Kids with ED's may also already be left out by this sort of thinking... there's a number of disorders that may prevent the child from eating chips. In my case, i was born with no enamel and lost my teeth, I'm autistic, have an ed, and dietary restrictions... People don't understand what it's like to constantly feel left out because you can't do anything. You try not getting to go out with your friend group, trick or treating the night away, all because no one hands out anything you can eat. I also was left out of valentines Day at school because i couldn't eat Valentine's candy. In any case disabled kids already feel left out enough, and the fact that op didn't specify the disability is already a red flag. He either 1. didn't listen 2. Wrote it off as hogwash or 3. Omitted it so he'd look better
So, what you’re saying is your bias.
People are not responsible for your problem... you can still participate and give the treats to friends later on. You are not left out. Just because you can't eat them it doesn't mean you can't participate... you choose not to participate. You can bring your own special candy at Valentines if you can't eat other candy. Problems have solutions and, while people accommodating you are really nice, it's not a requirement. You are the one who should accommodate your own problem.
I have autism, too. And I’m allergic to citrus acid. Try finding ANYTHING without citrus acid. (Candy, spices, soaps, laundry detergent, candles, perfumes, cleaning products!!!, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, lotions, toothpaste, literally everything.) It is NOT other people’s responsibility to baby me or to change their lives to please me. If I choose not to do something, that’s on me, not them. Grow up Also, not putting someone else’s personal info is NOT a red flag, even if it’s anonymous
@@ghosty-1 if that's the case then everyone that isn't disabled is also bias ... wtf argument is that ?
I totally agree with you and I'm sorry about the people in your comments belittling you, I think that I can understand both sides though, as a society we should be more adaptive and considerate of other people because it really doesn't cost us anything and it makes other people feel included and happy, but I also understand not wanting to go out and get tons of different kinds of treats because that could get expensive, the main reason I disagree with op is because finances don't seem to be the driving factor for him, it seems like he's calling a disabled child entitled for having a mom who tried to make him feel like he's equal to everyone else which is really hard in this world because people with disabilities are treated differently than abled people and that's just true
how to ruin a Good Thing for everyone else 101 now no one gets free candy in the neighborhood from Op s house
I completely agree and thought the same thing. Karens
Dude ... the guy was being a Asshole, what is the difficulty to adapt to a disability? Would u say the same if it was peanut allergy and he was only given out reese's ?
How is the disability related to the chips he won't eat.
There's likely no connection, some people just use disabilities as excuses for special treatment.
Their disability might come with dietary restrictions that's all I can think of
There's intestinal problems , the kid can have a hand disability, sensory issues, etc
@verdantwraith987 ... you are right, how Dave those people use wheelchairs , they clearly have two legs, why would they need it ...
@@AlbarnDante I said "some" not "all". I understand some people with disabilities need extra care, but a lot of them just want to be treated like everyone else, while SOME want special care.
Believe it or not it's actually a good thing to treat a disabled kid like everyone else, of course you'd have to adapt so they can understand. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit. Unless you're allergic or have severe sensory issues that make certain foods feel painful in a "I hate this feeling, imma throw up" sorta way.
This. An allergy or other sensory disability can definitely be a good reason to make an exception, but that isn’t every case.
Even then, they can find someone they can trade with. So, even if they are allergic, they won't need to keep it in the house.
so what you are saying in certain situations where you give certain free stuff to everyone except 1 yes you are the ahole provided that the treat is actually unsuitable or unhealthy. and given that providing an alternative isnt hard or disproportionally expensive
@@Levithos dont expect a verrt young child to understand trade and not eating whats given similar you can not deal out ratpoison candy in the playground and than say yeah well the should not have eaten it
He was giving out something the kid couldn't eat ... I think the kid would feel happier if he got something to eat
Who the hell wants to go on a trip with their mummy 😂😂 you are most definitely NTA 😂😂🤦🏻♀️
Yepp. The asshole. He has all the right to do it and it's not wrong but still an ass.
If he cant eat the chips because of the disability then you would be TA.
They wouldn't even be 1% TA. Having to deal with a single child wanting other stuff. FOR. FREE. If the kid can't eat them, they know not to pick them up.
I won't love my kids if they're vegans.
If she didn’t pay the person who ended up covering her bill then she wouldn’t have paid you back either, make new friends.
That made me laugh
Never happened redditors don’t go outside
Icl if I knew a brother for 10+ years and I didn’t get invited to the wedding we done fr
Nope
Huh...This is the first time I run into one of these when it's just part 2 not linked to any other part. It's still bad practice to not have it linked, but it's nice to see that a part 2 exists.
NTA!!!! Wait until theyre in the air on the way to wherever and THEN cancel ALL reservations and return tickets!! Get your divorce filed for before he can return!!! You deserve better than this "mommas boy"!!
"You'll still be a part of the family, and if you expect us to continue to pretend that we aren't leaving everything to your siblings and nothing to you, then you'll stay and work your little ass off".
Some people don't deserve to be parents!
NTA! It sounds like you are the adult in the house!!😮
NTA! It's time for all of them to grow up. Btw I recently heard a somewhat similar story where it turned out that one of the reasons the parents freaked out was that their young adult child would find out that the parents had been using credit in the child's name, ruining his credit score. The OP in that story managed to have the situation rectified, but please check your finances now, before you move out. Best of luck to you!
😮 ?? NOPE. Hope you kept walking, too. Right on out of monster-in-law and her baby's life.
NTA! Your parents are useless, abusive lumps. They have robbed you of your childhood, used and abused you, and put all of their responsibilities on you. Run! As far as you can, as fast as you can, and don’t look back. The only thing I would add is right before you turn 18 (I mean just days, not weeks), tell your guidance counselor exactly what they’ve done, that they’re trying to make you stay and help support and take total care of your siblings, and that you’re worried for your siblings. Once you leave, be careful! They will use your siblings to try and guilt you! Don’t fall for it. Go and have yourself a fantastic life. You’ve earned it.
AH parents
I’m sorry, but this OP is so pathetic. She didn’t even stand up for herself. I read the rest of the post and the update and what the hell man. I just don’t understand how people walk around with no backbone.
NTA. Your husband and his mother are nuts.
What's up with all these momma's boys, seriously, i love my mom to but not enough to take her on a family vacation, it's not that hard to put your foot down and say no
No
NTA but this is one of those hot button issues. Have to really approach it in the exact right way or people easily get their backs up and take offense.
Nta. She’s a grown woman and her ego is not as important as her daughter’s self esteem. Especially with textured hair, the longer you leave it tangled, the more likely it is you’ll have to cut it out if you can’t safely detangle it.
So apparently this is a real Reddit post. OP is basically doing most of the cores, driving the kids around, helps the kids with homework, pays for things, and gives permission for the kids to do stuff, etc, yet when OP tries to get their siblings to do chores the kids refuse to do anything, saying OP is not their parent, and the parents refuses to back OP up. OP's parents realized that OP is moving out in a few months, they are freaking out, and begging OP to stay. OP basically said, tough luck, figure out how to be proper parents.
Nta. And husband is a problem. Get out before you have kids.
I hear anything like "because family" and I'm instantly against whoever said it. That's _never_ a valid reason. Son has it right and I'm glad OP is standing by him. Good mama.
And this is why baby girl goin be wearing those shitty Tyler Perry wigs smh.
Nta, it takes a village to raise a child and to seek knowledge shows immense wisdom.
youre not the asshole, morally speaking BUT i wonder if there was a better way to have this conversation that wouldve convinced the mom
People are far too insecure in regards to this sort of thing Not knowing things doesn't make you a bad parent necessarily But not trying to fix that does
Nothing more frustrating than people who think "knowing things" is something that just magically happens.
THREATEN TO CALL THE POLICE IF SHE COULDN’T GO ON A TRIP 💀
Does she not realize that if multiple people have brought it up it's not a problem with the people bringing it up 😭
