    I voted for him and knew a couple of months later it was a mistake. The problem is we put people in power who have no connection to the people. He grew up entitled with the silver spoon. But truth be told I would rather have him at the helm instead of a conservative. Look what the conservatives/Republicans are doing across the border. This is how I see politics, you got the conservatives who will double fist you unlubricated and while pulling out will take your wallet out of your pocket and knock you in the back of the head for not having enough money in your wallet. The liberals/ democrats will single fist you lubricated and when they pull out and take your wallet they will give you a peek on the cheek. I just happened to come across your video today. i recognized New West and the bridge and your garage!! i bought your Exn from you on october 8. still my favorite wheel. although i have been thinking about getting a master. would you recommend that wheel ? any idea why i cant get the exn to go faster than around 60 kmh? no matter how hard i push on the pads it just doesn't go any faster thanks

    • @growingoldandhavingfun4391
      @growingoldandhavingfun4391 Год назад

      faster could be the outside temperatures. i normally hit 65 on that wheel all the time without trying but i run soft mode. even my master is going slower right now where im always hitting the beeps now at slower speeds. the cold effects batteries with more volt sag and less range it might sound weird but the air is also thicker at cooler temperatures, takes more energy to push you through it. theres more moisture at cooler temps making the air denser and you can feel the wind more. id recommend a Master, if you dont mind fixing all the little things, i think im at 4000 km's on it, theres a p42a master on craigslist right now identical to mine but i would solder some 0.1mm copper to the battery terminals to get the max power out of the batteries without melting the nickel strip, do some waterproofing and you might need to regrease the bearings.

  • @MichaelSTaylor

    Holy crap! Glad you walked away, those were some noticeable dents! The first thing that comes to my mind is to bring up a recent conversation I had with someone who turned out to be a PEV rider along with a personal injury lawyer. He mentioned a surveyed statistic, that as I understood it meant that 72% of all car accidents involving anything else but another car (bicycle, ebike, one wheel, scooter, etc), the driver of the car said "they did not see" the vehicle that they hit. Even though I was wearing a minimalistic wrap around elastic fluorescent reflective safety vest, he said that I was also wearing dark clothes and a dark helmet. He recommended I get more noticeable. I kind of feel a little like a crossing guard already but I agree, as an EUC rider I think you can never be too noticeable. I also have a master that I ride in the daytime with the flashing light, and I think it is noticeable. I'm going to add some reflective 3M fluorescent tape to my new helmet, because it definitely made my old helmet more visible, which was also black. So what is my point with all of this so far? 1) While I do think the driver that went in front of you is responsible for the accident ( I really hope that you end up with a new master either paid for with their insurance or directly through them), it looks like he didn't see you. While I hope he ends up legally at fault, the sad fact is when you are getting around town using anything less than a car, cars just don't notice you as much as they do other cars. I noticed this when I used to ride a motorcycle, and much more so now that I am putting a lot of miles on my master. Legally PEV Riders might not be responsible if they get in an accident where they are not seen, but in my opinion it is up to them to become as visible as possible to be seen in the first place. I also try and make eye contact with the drivers that I see most as threats... a driver about to come out of a driveway or crossroad or potentially make a turn in front of me are the ones that worry me the most. I deliberately slow down until I notice I am being noticed. I wish I didn't have to ride this way but so far it has kept me from an accident. 2) Again I'm glad you appear to be okay, but sometimes accident adrenaline can mask problems that can come up later. I hope you get yourself checked out just in case! 3) This kind of accident could happen to any of us, so I hope you can share some more details when you get a chance with a follow-up. Such as...it looks like the police showed up, did they cite the driver with any infraction? Did they write up an accident report and did you get the driver's insurance information? Did the police seem accepting or skeptical of your master? I ask that because you could be treated anywhere in between a harmless one-wheeled e-bike going about their business, to a dangerous unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle. Certainly a lot of gray area and how you could be perceived. Well anyway I could go on but clearly I have written way too much already. 🙂 Please feel free to address anything you'd like in this small novel of a post, and I hope that your master can be made rideable again sooner rather than later. Follow up when you can and take care.

    • @growingoldandhavingfun4391
      @growingoldandhavingfun4391 2 года назад

      the police stopped, they were just driving by and no tickets were issued. no one was mad. stripped down the master this morning and one of the pillars or bushing might be a little wonky although i got them sliding nice and freely, the battery is fine and is the same voltage as the others. i got it back together and its bouncing up and down again but still feels a bit sticky, it might be the rebound chamber in shock though. as far as injuries, i feel fine except for my hand being a bit swollen. when it stops raining ill take it out for a ride and see what happens. worst case is new pillars, bushings and a shock

    • @MichaelSTaylor
      @MichaelSTaylor 2 года назад

      @@growingoldandhavingfun4391 That's cool that you have a chill attitude. If I were riding along and somebody did something stupid that resulted in an injured or dead wheel, I think I would not only likely be mad, I would not want to have to pay to fix the wheel out of my own pocket. I would also not trust that they might not try to make me pay for damage to their vehicle. Even though the driver could come off like a good person, their significant other might not be so happy, and also happen to have a brother who is the lawyer and needs the work. It's also quite possible I am burdened with a pessimistic imagination. 😐 I get it, bad things happen and sometimes it's better just to move on with as little attention paid to it as possible. If you end up minimizing this is much as possible and get back to the way things were sooner rather than later, then it's hard to make the argument that making a bigger fuss out of it to minimize the damage to your wallet would ultimately have been worth your time. I still hope it might have sunk in that having a higher priority on being visible might give you a better chance of avoiding this sort of thing in the future.

      EUC riding is like a sport, we get geared up like football or hockey players because there is a good chance we might get a little banged up. the other day a guy threw an elbow at me and tried to knock me off my wheel and then started yelling at me, straight up rude and malicious so i lost my cool on him. this is an accident, insurance is involved so some might think $kaching$ but why take a dramatic dive like a soccer player and milk a claim. i wound up with a sore left hand and tricep, itll be fine in a week. last week i bailed out on some ice and had sore right hand and shoulder and is fine now. the wheel i tore down yesterday and i might need a new pillar or graphite bearing/bushing, put it back together and it bounces just fine but the rebound seems off so it might be the rebound in the shock. new shock might be $200, 4 graphite bearings might be $50 new pillar $200? im not going to fight with an insurance company over maybe $450 max damage. they will or they wont. heres the deal, they want estimates. eevee's will inspect it for $80/hr but wont fix it. why would i waste a day of my time to give eevee's $300 for nothing, i can order most of the parts for that much $$ without having the hassle of dealing with an insurance company. a Yellow jacket would be a good idea for day time riding

      @@growingoldandhavingfun4391 @Growing Old and Having Fun @Growing Old and Having Fun I know if I was the driver and you ask me if giving you $500 cash to repair your damage and you said you would sign something saying you never ask for anything more, medical or otherwise -- I would sign up for that in a heartbeat. Not sure if this guy's insurance is already going to go up, but my guess is it would only go up if there's a claim. If he avoids the claim and just gives you straight up cash, he could probably save money because his rates would likely increase if he had his insurance pay. Sucks that you just can't order the parts and bill the insurance company for them, but I wonder if in the days of covid, a no contact video appraisal would be accepted by the insurance company, if eevees would agree. As in, you video document exactly what's wrong, and Eevees says to the insurance company, yes he needs these parts, we'll sign off on the video evidence. Yeah that's ideally the way it would work but I know dealing with insurance companies can be anything but ideal. Hope there's an option of working it out with the driver directly, good luck and post an update when you can. PS And yeah, sucks about that elbow I left a comment on that video when you posted it about a week ago

      @@mdk42o74 they say at 20c or less it starts happening the colder it gets the worse it gets. im riding in around 2c right now so if its sitting out in the cold for awhile ill just hop and ride for a 2or3 km's then turn off and on the wheel again and it starts working. you need the new module

      Yes, and only 20% infill. I modified the design so I can hold a coffee cup and printed 90% infill with pla carbon fibre. I guess I could put a couple steel rods in them. Thanks
