Black Mamba: The 1984 Jeep CJ7 Restomod
What makes this CJ7 unique is the modifications that were made using AMC components from the 1980s. It has a built AMC 401 with Magnum COMP Cam with Hydraulic flat tappet lifters and Wiseco pistons. The engine is mated to a T-177 4-speed transmission, a Dana 300 transfer case, and the one-year-only Dana 44 Wide Track one-piece axel. Sitting on new 35 inch tires, custom interior and a sound system to match.

1981 Honda CM400T
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.Год назад
SOLD: This is an 860 mile, Honda CM400T (Touring). Originally purchased in 1983 and registered for one year, it spent the next 40 years in a garage. When I bought it, sight unseen, I didn't realize it was so pristine. Once I did, however, I realized I couldn't cut it up and it belongs with someone who wants and appreciates classic bikes in their original condition. This bike will be at auction ...
The Final Run before she's sold.

I take one final bittersweet drive before she sold to the highest bidder today.

A short drive in the Military-issued International Scout 800A from one roundabout to another. Just rebuilt the original 3-speed transmission. These trucks had unsynchronized 1st and reverse gears. That means you need to be in a near-rolling stop to shift down to first, or grind 'em and find 'em!
Interior and more on the Military-issued 1970 International Scout 800A

As we continuing the walk-around of the Military-issued 1970 International Scout 800A, its important to know that I care about two things in my personal projects: Comfort and sound. I'm a sound guy, so a seven speaker system with 7 inch pop up radio fits just right!

This has been a long-time favorite of mine, and for years I've used the heck out of it. But as time passed, I continued to upgrade it. This series walks through some of the details I've worked through since buying it.
Paint Inspection

A walk-around to review the condition of the 10 year old paint. Like me, she has some scratches, but she's still worth the ride!
Mr.How much
It sold a couple months ago.
tach was available as an option on any model, not only Laredos. Trans is a t176, not 177.
What makes you think its a T176, and not the longer shaft T177 which had slightly different gearing?
@@chickencreekcustoms8974 It's your jeep, you know it better than me. My bad. I was thinking factory cj7 options. 401 to t177 was common in full size jeeps.
Como é que chama este revestimento do painel de plástico desse jeep aí mi falale por favo
Sold?
Yessir
Where did u buy seat covers? Thank you
I can't recall. I think seatcoversunlimited, but do a google search and you'll find a couple. But, as I noted, they need to be cut apart and sewn properly to get the bottom and corner fit you want.
This is like the perfect Jeep ever!! <3
I WANT ONE WITH AC AND A HARDTOP
What lift does it have?
Natural arc, 2-inch leaf springs and 2-inch body lift. This gives you the best of both worlds. You don't have to retool steering and hoses if the body doesn't exceed 2 inches, and you get the natural lift with a set of springs arched for an additional 2 inches.
Very nice
I wish I'd known about this before I bought the Jeep I have. I like my TJ, but I originally wanted a CJ7. I've had a Commando, a CJ2A, a CJ 5 , a YJ, a CJ7, and now this TJ. I loved the 2A, and the CJ5, but the CJ7 was the perfect all around Jeep. I Know I'll catch hell with the owners who follow the RUclips influencers and claim only the new Jeep are worthy, but I like leaf springs. They claim they can go on the Rubicon and Moab, but when I bring up videos showing old Flat Fenders crawling all over both they finally shut up. All I can say is that thing is beautiful and it sounds amazing.
I too had a CJ2A - one of my all-time favorite off road vehicles. Dang, I miss that ride. I do like the TJ, however. I feel it was a really good balance of on- /off- road performance. Not as good off road as the CJ, and not as good on-road as the newer, wider Jeeps, but still a great balance of size and capabilities. I drove a TJ Unlimited (LJ) for 10 years.
I had a V8 304, 3 sp. manual.. 1977
The CJ5, yeah, that was a great vehicle. Super fun off road!
That is the way they should still be today. Personally I like leaf spring in comparison to coil. Just me.
Ya I miss the attitude of old cj leaf setups. I think it's because you can feel what's going on better.
Me too. I like leafs better but the angry eyed, rubber duckie lovers claim if it's not long arms with King or Fox shocks with hydro assist steering it ain't good off road. On any given day it's not uncommon to see a bunch of 70 year old Flat Fender Willys Jeeps crawling all over the Rubicon, Moab and other places around the Country. And, they have more class doing it. These new Jeep owners have no idea what a stock Jeep is capable of, because they are so gullible and believe everything the RUclips influencers tell them. It is 70-30 in my book. 70% driver and 30% vehicle.
Beautiful!
where is the four-wheel-drive shifters?. I see that it’s a stick could’ve told us a little bit about the drive-train
Being a military base truck, they didn't order them with 4-wheel drive. This one is a 2-wheel drive, higher gear ratio truck. Much quicker and responsive than my '69 4-wheel drive!
Is it bad that I would love to use this as a daily driver?
Merhaba araç icin bilgi almam gerek sizden bana yazarmisiniz lutfen 🙏✋
Yaklaşık iki ay önce satıldı, ancak devam etmekte olan başka projelerimiz var, bu yüzden onları herkesten önce görmek için abone olun!
Nice Scout! I daily a '69 800A. What kinda MPG are you getting with the 2bbl Weber carb? Thinking about upgrading from the original single bbl Holley I have on mine. Thx!
You might get a an increase of a couple MPG, but you sure do get more response from it!
To bad you sold it. What did you get or are planning to get to replace it?
Ha! You know me! I've got six bikes in the garage and half way through a 1954 International R110 pick up. But the true replacement came in about 3 months ago. Its a 1969 Datsun Fairlady Roadster. It's going to be epic!
@@chickencreekcustoms8974 Very nice 👍
It has that same gear wind sounds like my old CJs from the same era. Looks like a real solid driver . Thank you 👍
I owned a 46 CJ 2A, and you are correct! Although that one had the Hurricane 4 banger.
@@chickencreekcustoms8974 Cool 👍
Very nice 👍. Did the military order it with really deep gearing? I've owned four CJs and a 74 bronco so I really appreciate the scouts because I had a lot of buddies back in the '80s and '90s that had scouts. It just never worked out that I got one. But I know the friends of mine that ended up with military Jeeps they all ran really deep gear so like 5.38s. That's a sweet machine you got there hard to find today. Thank you for sharing 👍
Keeping in mind that they were designed to run around the base, you're correct, they were geared higher than the four wheel drive counterparts. They were lighter and more nimble without the second axle and much quicker off the line! This one was much more fun to drive than my 69 four wheel drive version.
@@chickencreekcustoms8974 Cool 👍. What speed could you cruise on highway? I know the old military CJs were about 55 max. I had a 74 dodge power wagon in the 90s was originally a military pick up it would only go about 60 . I used it for hauling wood and it did great. Thank you
@@brianlee6849 That's about right, 60. It could go faster but then you were really stretching the four-banger and reving higher than those farm engines were designed for!
@@chickencreekcustoms8974 Yes definitely. I just read about the 196 I never knew anything about it. It's one of the engines that is a V8 minus 4 cylinders. It's cool. Thank you 👍
That must suck man
I've had 6 good years with her. Wait until you see what comes next!
