A site dedicated to video clips taken by me of my favourite aircraft seen over the years................I have always preferred moving images of aircraft and back in the first few years I only had access to my mothers cine camera, then my father bought one of the first video camera's. This was a Sony Camera and Recorder, separates and only VHS C tapes which had to be wiped and re-recorded, poor early video but at least I could record sound and action, then I got a Panasonic M40 VHS full size camcorder which was a far better recorder and now in my sixties I was able to record the classic years of British air-shows and military aviation including the final years of many types including the mighty Lightning, Phantom, Buccaneer, Vulcan, Hunter and many others now long gone.... Happy Days!!
1995 Sweden Angelholm Static show
Here are some views of the static display at the Swedish Angleholm airshow back in 1995 where I saw 24 Saab Drakens in formation a highlight of the show and still the largest single aircraft formation I have seen!

Some video shots of the static display aircraft at the 1995 Fighter Meet, nice to see the Canadian Catalina which i think had stopped over on its way to Holland and the pair of G91's which I had forgotten about! Also seen was the ME109 G10 (i think) another fairly rare type!
1995 RAF Lakenheath F15'2 etc!

Some video shot at Lakenheath on a moist and dank February day back in 1995. Thanks to my good friend Chris I have been able to spend many happy hours over the years at Lakenheath and Mildenhall where you can almost guarantee some jet action! Note the GAF intruder arriving, not to many R4 FE's flying, even back then. The conifers had only just been planted as you will see.

Some nice views of the lovely 109 Black Six during her appearance at the V E Day display at Duxford on the 8th May 1995. I watched this aircraft's restoration over many years and loved seeing it in action! Sadly to be lost due to engine failure and a forced landing which damaged the a/c beyound economic repair. Now to be seen at Hendon I think?

Views of the Manston Air Fair held on the 24th July 1994 notable for the views of 16 Sqns display Jaguar and the departure of the IL76 among others. I used to fly in Chipmunks there with the ATC back in the early 70's and have a lasting memory of turning finals in the chippie and wondering where to put it down!

Some video I shot at RAF Lossiemouth back in March 94 of the static display at the Buccaneer finale where the RAF lined up Buccaneers marked up in all the squadrons that operated it. Personally i preferred the two seat Hunter in its all black livery which really suited it! Lovely line up and display.....

1993 Lightning arrival at Brunty 21 Jan'93 Part 1
The first time I ever set foot in leuchars was a few months before the 1990 airshow , there was a squadron of phantoms lined up and I believe they were from 19 sqn , dolphin on the tails.
Put a bucket 🪣 under the hydraulics and recycle the dripping 💦 leaks
Ahhhh the sound of my youth at raf lossie
I was 23 and this was my first air show, remember all the car alarms going off, fantastic memories seeing the lightening's leave, also the SR-71A Blackbird.
I remember these old birds flying into Blackpool airport in the 1960s. The airline was Sulver City. These and Dakota DC3s also operated by Silver City. Sure feels a long time ago now.
Awesome. When we had an air force!
As has been said:- “..I was with it all the way. Until brakes off..”
Back in the days when we had an air force, which I served in from 83 to 99..... not the standing joke that we've become now.
We used to be a country.
Awesome
Thankyou.Alas no more.😥
i was 16 here
I worked on the Bucc at BMSF RAF Abingdon from late 90 to 92. Hello to anyone who was there too.
Only real Phantoms use J-79 engines 😂
Must have been an emotional time. The end of Binbrook and rhe might Lightning
Very, very sad. How far backwards the RAF has slid since then. Too few airframes and only a handful of stations left. God forbid the UK has to defend herself again.
I was at RAF Laarbruch in the late sixties when it was announced that the RAF were to get Phantoms. Spangdahlem sent acouple of F4s to LBH for a "friendly" fly off to show off their prowess. Needless to say the Frightning tore them to shreds and, one occassion, following a F2A/F4 pairs takeoff the F2A was airborne and waiting for the F4 to get off the groumd before he called a guns kill (being a gentleman!). A USAF Colonel (smug git that he was) walked away in disgust muttering to himself. All his illusions about F4 superiority totally shattered. We still ended up with F4s. On a later "friendly" flyoff between RAF and USAF F4s I witnessed the same Colonel (now a Brigadier) walk off muttering again after a 6 nil defeat by the RAF. Oh dear, how sad, never mind!
I was at Laarbruch in the early 70's. I liked the phantoms but loved the lightnings which were elsewhere in Germany.
It's a shame they painted it in a camouflage again. There are so many civillian and racing Mustangs, but there's not a single Spitfire with a creative design
That was the last time I saw a Lightning fly - looking at my photos I must have been standing a few feet away from you
The events of November 1989 would sadly signal the beginning of the end of UH and her birds. Great vid.
Sadly missed show,Saw the SR-71 many times during the 80s,never failed to impress,I’m a very sentimental and nostalgic person,And I often remember the great spring bank holidays of the air fete,The bbq’s and Budweiser and Sunkist orange in ice filled bathtubs,Great memories.
I was there , end of the day they flew low and high and loud!
I bet she’d give a few modern birds a run for their money.
I remember them well from '76. The 75 show was at nearby Lakenheath. Last show i did was 1990. No Lightning😢.
I was underneath the SR71 when it flamed out, boom boom boom, I thought it was going to fall on me!
That was a fantastic Airshow & F-14 display from VF-74 nose number 106 & sadly the last year a Raf Phantom displayed
Fantastic to see, a bit after my time as I left in 84 but the sound of the Shackleton will stay with me forever. Actually 2 flights in them and my ears are still ringing 40 years later
Range Rover 6 wheel fire-tender. Tasty.
Reminds me of when the RAAF retired our F111s Mothballed airframes used for parts sitting there
Great footage. I was there, this brings back some incredible memories. The tomcat was such a beautiful aircraft.
Is it that aircraft what killed Paul Morgan 12.05.2001?
iworked on the lightning above wing fitter
The lightning growl ,superb !
Where can I rent one😊
This just made me cry. Oh the memories and feelings and the unofficial air little mini shows the pilots would either coincidentally or deliberately give us over our little primary school in New Waltham near Grimsby in the last few days of the Lightnings at lunches and break times. Coming in fast and low over the houses and then a roar a brief flame and spurt of afterburner before tearing upwards into the sky, not just your rib cage shaking violently but every organ in your body including many you were not even aware that you had vibrating at different frequencies. As a young boy I bloody loved it, some of the younger kids and girls who ran back inside crying, perhaps not so much, but the law of averages kicks in. Oh what I would give for a time machine right now!
I never got that close, but i was an Airfix nut in the 60s/70s my favourite was the Spitfire M1X and the Lightning 111 sqn with the lightning bolts decals. here in Scotland in the 60s anyway, that contrail moving so fast, and so high could only be a Lightning
deleted
The lightning can climb as high and as fast as any modern fighter. It’s a thing of beauty and it’s British
Holy climb rate batman
the pilots called them frightnings due to the speed the fuel would disappear. *which was 1ltr per minute and 1.2ltr per minute afterburner.
I was stationed at RAF Alconbury in the early 80's. I was a great base. I lived in a little town called St Ives. Some of the best years of my life. My oldest daughter was born at RAF Lakenheath.
Fly- bys are real good!
I bet those FGR.2 guys got a lot of bullying from the F3 guys 😂
Ian Black in the F6 XR754 what a departure
I was there - somewhere in that crowd!
The one year I don't make it,and I miss this!!!!😪
Could still eat a lot of modern aircraft for breakfast in speed and manoeuvrability. What a CLASSIC.
And the Lightening was doing this in 1960! So much for the Eurofighter?
The old 90s tornado cammo was gnarly, those were the days
It was a one man rocket with wings I remember it as a kid going over similar to the vulcan
40 odd years ago i had the fortune to not only get to steer a 4,000 gallon bitumen tanker delivering to binbrook down the runway, but also got to climb aboard a decomissioned lightning,no engines just the airframe.a giant tube with wings, never forget that day nor the lightning.
