I try to avoid snaps like the plague, I simply don't trust the access that is inherent in their use. Until I learn otherwise, then that's my stand. The data waste problem that a rolling distro such as Arch can inadvertently create is something i never considered about. Granted, i got a pretty speedy internet at home but what I am trying to say is that with the minimalist approach that some Arch power user takes, data waste can be as valid as optimizing memory usage. I wish you the best of success in your next distro adventure.

I use arch, BTW. It is the greatest distro. It is stable for me, almost rock-stable. And no distro is completely stable, neither any other OS. I am sorry your journey has been unsatisfactory. FYI, I am using the system for over 5 years and it is perfectly fine.

Why are you using Wayland on an old piece of crap like that? I run Arch on my T480 Chad pad with a 7th Gen Intel and it runs fine with 32GB of RAM lol.. j/k Bro.. I highly recommend you use Fedora with that machine..

U can use arch as base with lts kernel and use flatpak on top . Window managers always cause some issues especially the tiling ones. I used to use arch. Never had an issue. I never used aur packages , and only used bare minimum from core and community just enough to run swaym and pipewire for media. Left it only because I didn't want to update it frequently. Now using debain base with swaywm and flatpaks ontop.

If you want to use video and audio you need to add more RAM (you only have 8 GB). Get 16 or 32 GB. I am an arch user and have tried dozens of different distros, but now I am happy with arch. Also, there is more to Arch than just bugs that are mainly due to your computer specs.

Reason number 3 did it for me and the rolling distros. I am on Fedora now.

You want the cutting edge but don't want to bleed. That's your challenge. Videos like these create the impression Linux is difficult. Please stick to a LTS distro and go on with your life.

distro hopping. you become a master of none as they all need you to navigate the command prompt! But having said that, rpm is ok but its not better or worse than Debian, just different and for speed (Pi400/500) Arch (manjaro) is the slickest and fastest distro by a mile and a half.I settled on MINT Cinnamon desktop for an old dell optiplex and its a sweet install and runs well so it will stay. But I did notice its X11 and not WAYLAND, not a deal breaker as X11 works and its integrated graphics is a problem.

I like OpenSUSE, although I haven't used it for a while. Are you going to be using Tumbleweed or Leap? YAST is going tp be very different from an Arch like experience. Why not Debian testing? I'm using Debian and Ubuntu.

Zorin OS is an excellent option for those who are new to Linux or anyone else who wants a simple, elegant, and stable experience.

Zorin OS is a very good OS and I try to use it but....I have problems when I want to connect plug and play devices or install exe files. I can't do it with applications like wine or Jack. This is the only reason why I make music on Windows, although I don't like it very much, but I have no problems with the connection or with the sound and its settings. Hopefully I will learn it over time, because Zorin is otherwise amazing.

The thing is I don't think zorin os pro is worth it, it is just ubuntu with little design tweaks and maybe some more desktop layouts. But that doesn't mean it should be free. I respect every developer as I know how hard programming is. They have clearly mentioned that it helps support the development of zorin os. Imagine if you have to pay for windows and macos, and your fully functional PC is not receiving anymore updates it is these linux distro which gives a new life to the old pc from going into trash. They are also providing the zorin for free as well. I will say pay for the pro version to support their cause, and it's development. Don't get the pro if you want value for your money.

2 gigs of RAM is a bare minimum and would not run great, 4 is the real minimum with like 8 or 16 as the recommended.

Ultramarine Linux is the best Fedora based distro there is. But in Gnome, not budgie.
