Little Fender Keychain
In this video, I wil show you how to make a little fender keychain by Fender Hitching method. It is quite simple but time consuming if you to do it well.
I used a common wine clork about 4cm long, 2mm parcord x 360 cm long.
Started hitching on the middle of clork and worked on one side at a time.

    Can a type 1 expansion pass bump this up to a 7 part x 5 bight knot? I’ve tried a few different approaches but wind up with 5 bights on the top and 2 or 3 on the bottom. Donald

    • @WeekendKnotter
      @WeekendKnotter 2 года назад

      Not on 7 part x 5 bight knot. By using Expansion method 1 ( starting on left hand side of the standing end ), will increase number of parts and bights by 2, only works on Regular Square Knots ( 1 part less than the number of bights or 1 bight less than the number of Parts ), such as 5 Part x 4 Bight or 4 Part x 5 Bight. In your case, 5 Part 3 Bight is not a Square Knot, but a long Turks Head Knot. You will have to tie a 7 Part x 5 Bight Knot instead of expanding it from 5 x 3. Would you like to try to tie a 7 x 5 knot first? or....

      @@WeekendKnotter I noticed your video for the 7L5B Sobre knot, but thought the 5L3B expanded would be easier. Guess I’ll just have to learn the pattern as you’ve presented. I did go to the Advanced Grid Maker and was able to create a run list for a 7x5 knot, but I don’t like working from a run list and had to tie it on a pinned mandrel. I can send run list and diagram if you’re interested. Donald

      @@djecpamba if you swapped Unders with Overs and Overs with Unders on your standard 7 x 5 run list, you would have a run list for a 7 x 5 Sobre knot. Tying knots without pins is more fun 😁 happy knotting.

    My son asked me to (teach) show him how to tie simple turks heads (3L2B & 5L4B, etc) and like most novice knotters he became frustrated by his inability to keep the leads from moving. I suggested he watch some of your videos for tips on how to keep leads in place. I’m enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing your expertise. Donald

    • @WeekendKnotter
      @WeekendKnotter 2 года назад

      Could use a rubber band to keep standing end in place or a constrictor knot. Otherwise, use mandrel with pins. With simple Turks Head with less leads, just mandrel will do.

    • @djecpamba
      @djecpamba 2 года назад

      @@WeekendKnotter I’ve always used an elastic band to secure my standing end. His problem, as with most of us just starting out, is that he hasn’t learned to hold the leads in place as he works through the knot. It’s something he can learn so long as he keeps at it. I suggested your videos so he had examples to learn from. Donald

    • @WeekendKnotter
      @WeekendKnotter 2 года назад

      @@djecpamba just use his index finger as mandrel. Do a 5 x 4 Turks Head Knot on finger, it is suitable for most beginners. Next, double it to create a Scout woggle. After that, he can try to use expansion / enlargement method 1 to bump up to 7 x 6 then 9 x 8 Turks Head Knots. That should keep him busy for a while.

  • @djecpamba
