Dreame T20 Smart Brush Repair Walkthrough/Guide
As many people were having problems with their Dreame T20 Cordless vacuum cleaner Smart Brush, I decided to film myself taking it apart for the first time to see if I could check out the breaking cable that was causing all the trouble. I try to warn for all the troubles people could have doing this themselves as the current guides online were unclear to say the least. Even though it's not that hard, you'll see there's some confusing parts about this vacuum cleaner brush head that could break easily. I did end up learning that the defect seems to have been avoided on my version of this vacuum cleaner. Taking it apart should be the same for everyone though, so hopefully it helps some of you...

I drilled a hole and rerouted the wires and connected it on the outside. I am yet to solder it but it seems to be working.
Any idea where to find the rubber cover of the big wheels? mine are falling apart..
Great instruction. Helped a lot! Thanks, Karolina
brilliant, that's what I'm looking for, my cables snap off and I had to add extra 5cm of cables, now the brush spinning and working fine
Mine is not spinning on carpet (too much suction?) ... Has someone the same problem?
You can already see some cuts from the sharp edges they broke off. It will be a Problem one day
Muchísimas gracias desde España, me sirvió de gran ayuda tu vídeo
Fantastic walk-through. I was able to fix my vacuum after my toddler bent the brush head around further than she should. Thank you so much!
i only needed a v11 brush and i struggled opening it until I saw your great video which suited my brush exactly. Thank you!!
But how do you remove the hose from that bending thing?! Im stuck there.
Nicely shown - there is still a problem with those cables as they wear off after some time, but I can just solder them back and it should work just fine.
thanks for the explanation i was able to put back the wheel that fell out...
OMG thank you ! I have the Xiaomi G10 and one wheel fell off. I couldnt put it back until i saw you video : you need to screw !
Thanks, saved mine too!
Thanks for the informative video. The large toothed belt pulley was cracked and spinning on the shaft on my cleaner. This caused the brush to slow down and not spin on carpet.
Min: 18.43 saved my day ! 😅 thank you very much for this video! It helped me a lot!
Thanks a lot, 80$ saved ! Those wires are stupidly stuck in the main conduct, I've replaced the 2 wires thanks to your explanations. +1 for the hidden screw.
Thank you your video is very helpful, especially for the hidden screws. On mine one of the soldered connections where the wires to the motor join onto the hose coil had failed, so I bypassed the hose coil with silicone insulated flexible conductors rated to 3 amps (motor draws around 1.6 amps), you can hardly see them and all is going well. For any that are not aware the circuit to the motor used the 2 spring coils inside the flexible hose to complete the circuit so no wires are visible. However these joints are hard soldered and break after in my case 1 year.
Many thanks ! brilliant ! it helps a lot. There is really a weeak point with small elec cables that can break easily after some time. that was my case
Thanks for the disassembly instructions. The problem with the cables still exists (despite the removed tabs) they are currently damaged at the very entrance to the rotary joint.
mine is not stopping vacuum when carpet stuck inside roller
My wheels keep falling out 😅.
Mine too, but I've found a fix for that. The wheels are held in place by 2 screws at the bottom. You need to unscrew them and use a drill (I used a drill for wood) to deepen the holes. Just 1-2 mm will do. This will allow the screws to hold the wheels in place better.
@@cezarypielas3384 thank you. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks mate without your help I probably wouldn't have gone through the end! I had the exact same problem you thought of, the cable just broke at the base of the head. Managed to fix it applying some pressure on the cable with some fixing gum and assembling everything back, dirty but it works! Thanks again!
Dear, thank you so much for the video! Ma wife washed the brush with the shower, so i needed an urgent dry out, and your video is the only one about the construction. Thank you, you ve saved my day and nerves.
Great Guide. For me the necessary part was the screws that fixed the wheels.
Thanks for the great video. I had a similar problem on my Dreame T30: brush stopped working because the white cable is broken at the plastic level. In fact it is quite easy to fix: use another cable that you connect on one side to the connector (easily accessible by removing 2 screws) and on the other side to the remaining white cable. Some soldering is required to make it solid. And keep the new cable outside the pipe. Good luck!
How did you access the wire under the plastic? I could loosen up some stuff but not fully disassemble that part (the part connecting to the shaft)
@@CosaNoztra Not sure about which plastic you are talking.. but if you talk about the wire that goes into the plastic: I did not remove it. I just added another wire outside the plastic, so that remains visible. It is working since 1 year now!
Really really helpful!!!! My husband wants to repair our brush, thanks a lot!
Same problem here. The white cable snap off at the base! No way to repair it. 🤦🏻♂️
Yep same problem and snapped cable at the base. What a shoddy design
How do I even soldier the cable if the cable is cut all the way down to the plastic? I’d have to destroy a bit of the plastic to get hold of the cable.
My cable is broken at the very end. Crap... The Chinese eBay seller doesn't exist any more...
Man, thank you so much for your video. I could fix my brush over here with you teaching. I had some complications because my cabes were out, but fortunately, I bought another piece to replace and in the end works fine. Thank you so much !!
Super erklärt vielen lieben dank für das tolle Video
Hi, my multibrush bar stopped working, and I ended up here. It looked like exactly like my problem so I went on and disassemblied the thing. Long story short, mine got the plastic clips removed, so the wired broke off at the start, where it comes off from the plastic joint. Damn.
Same here
@@rytismo9240 I replaced the wire entirely, taking a couple of turns around the flexible pipe. Works like a charm. Now the plastic joint broke and I can't use it for a different reason. Damn.
you saved my ass
I just bought one of these, did not know about this fault, I usually research these things quite well before buying so I am a little annoyed now. Is there a chance I have got one that doesn't have this problem new models etc..? I haven't received it yet but I'm just curious did they fix this issue in later made ones..?
hello, I have the same question, have you found any answer to this?
Hi, thank you for your detailed explaination. Can you tell me what kind of cable should I buy in order to extend the existing ones?
Thank you , same kind of issue with the V9Pro (except the wire was "broken" in a "hidden place" inside the plastic flexible part). A few hours to dismount, solder, remount, but it is still satisfying when it works :-)
and just diagnosed my Dreame with the same problem, thank you for documenting this and I am seeking a refund.
the v11 has the same problem
Really helpful..thanks
i have the new model which has black and white cables. it is still poorly engineered. the cables will now be chopped where they disappear into the hose. I really don't understand why anyone would think it is a good idea to have such thing cables anywhere near were there is movement and limited space...
T20 pro got same brush ?
Thanks so much for the info.I was able to dismantle the head on my V10 Dreame and found one of the wires broken where it exited the plastic hose end nearest the brush end.It was broken off where it exited, flush with the plastic --so I installed 2 new wires, and wrapped them around the plastic hose, wrapped the hose with electrical tape, and soldered both ends after cutting the connecting wires inside the head and at the pin connection end. Works like a "Dreame" <grin>
Thank you for your video, it felped me to fix my brush. And it avoid me to pay a new one (80€)😂
this video helped me
Hello, i had the same problem, the shop send us a New one. I would like to repair the first. I think it will break because the electric line is small. Where Can i find the piece who's break ?
Hi, which shop did you use ? Dreame tech is asking to send back the old one
Just received my 3rd brush from Dreame, same problem (every brush lasted 3 months). I'm gonna repair my brushes because I'm not going to wait for 4th another month.
For me too. 2 brush broken (despite the fix for the second brush)
I opened mine; one of the cables was cut clean off where it enters the tube. My unit also it also had the little tabs snapped in factory. So that’s not the only problem. There is another tab on the right side where it leads to the circuit. My take is that - the cables should have been fixed at the tabs by a nut or glue - there should be some strain relief at the connection point with the tube Dreame is sending me a new brush. Thanks for the video. I would not have managed to open the brush otherwise.
Fantastic guide that saved me a whole lot of headache! Exactly my issue - I was an October backer and my unit still had the tabs, with one of the wires snapped clean off at the base. Cut the tabs off, dremeled out the stub of the wire and resoldered everything back together. Not the best soldering job but at least it works for now.
