10mm Magnum (10mm Mag) S&W Revolver Tool
Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. It took me a while to find a driver for the main screws that I liked. But after I picked up a fine tool for working on EDC knives, I found something that worked tremendously well for both tasks. I have some perfect bits from Brownells for taking down the S&W 610-3 revolver (an N-frame), and now I have a very satisfying driver from `Audacious Concepts': their `V5' knife tool makes handling these precarious plate screws with ease. This dutch company has some very nifty gadgets, and I highly recommend them for working on revolvers in addition to knives. Fina...

10mm Magnum (10mm Mag) Backordered Brass

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. When I decided to get this project on its way, I just assumed the backordered brass on Starline's website was just going to take an extra couple weeks. After nearly two years, the 10mm Mag brass finally landed on my doorstep today. I was pretty frustrated for t...
Woods Carry Loads: Bears IRL
Просмотров 154 месяца назад
A dear friend had a very serious black bear encounter. She's lucky to be alive. In the national forests in the lower 48, I was comfortable with bringing along a little 40 S&W Glock. But no more. Considering what happened to my friend, I am bringing Alaska-esque tools to the woods from here on out. I've tested 200 grain hardcast with 10mm auto, using Longshot powder. Had great results at the ran...
10mm Magnum (10mm Mag) Parent Case: The 30 Remington

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. But I got into this caliber because of my first firearm was chambered in 40 S&W. Well, turns out, I have a whole family of calibers now that are all children of the very old 30 Remington, a rifle round from long ago. Lo, that's even how I got into the 6.8 SPC, ...
AR-15 Wobble Fix with Orthodontic Elastics
Просмотров 255 месяцев назад
Have a nasty wobble in an AR-15 between the upper and lower receiver. The problem is, the lugs are pretty darn flush, so plumber o-rings around the lugs wasn't possible. What I needed was very slight rubber bands, and after a couple nights sleep, it dawned on me just how to go about it. I ordered some orthodontic rubber bands (do you remember seeing braces in school where teeth were connected m...
10mm Magnum (10mm Mag) Kick with Range Ammo

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. Using some commercial range ammo, there is a nice amount of kick coming at you with 180 grain projectiles. Nothing too bad, but it's not nothing. I've come to notice that the variation in brass length from Starline is pretty dramatic: some rounds sit low, some ...

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. After scoring some new Starline brass, I got everything I need to start handloading for my S&W 610 that's been modified to take 10mm Mag rounds. The Remington 41 Magnum is a close enough round to mirror, so getting yourself a copy of `One Book/One Caliber' for ...
10mm Magnum (10mm Mag) Brass from Starline (Eureka!)

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. I got on a backorder waitlist about eighteen months back for Starline's 10mm Mag brass, and I kind of just gave up. I decided to play around with modifying 6.8 basic unstamped brass Starline has, which works great. Also scored some range ammo in this caliber, a...

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. I was hesitant to carry this large N-frame Smith like I do my Glock 29. But after I tried it, I couldn't believe how comfortable it was. I don't wear belts, so I found this way of carrying was a win. Now that I have a new favorite caliber, I thought there'd be ...
10mm Magnum (10mm Mag) from Starline 6.8 Basic Rifle Brass

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. Although I found some range ammo, I was curious what parent round I could use to make 10mm Mag. The 6.8 SPC is a good candidate, as its parent case, the .30 Remington, is the parent case to a bunch of things. But, the 6.8 is a tapered cartridge, and fireforming...
10mm Magnum (10mm Mag) and the Smith & Wesson 610

Mod'd my S&W 610 to take 40S&W, 10mm Auto, and now 10mm Magnum, a bit of a wildcat round that is comparable to the Remington 41 Magnum. I had the cylinder reamed out to accept the 10mm magnum cartridge, and now the smaller rounds can be used with moon clips same with the Magnum or the 10mm Magnum can be used without the moon clips. This platform feels like it's meant to shoot something this sto...
10mm or 10mm mag?
Well, both, technically. See this vid for details: ruclips.net/video/iDEqE4Gg5sk/видео.html
OMG LMAO
Who did the conversion to 10mm if you don't mind me asking. That sounds like that would be a fantastic option. You have 40 S&W, 10mm, and 10mm Mag that's a lot of versatility. Sounds awesome.
A fine smith in OH named Andy Horvath. Some other comments for this vid has more on this.
I remember this longer 10mm way back but not sure why it died or never took off. I assume the FBI rejecting the 10mm as to strong may have scared a few off from trying it. I have an early NO DASH 610 that I will be sending the cylinder out for the boring for the 10mm Magnum new clearance. 44 is great but never really liked it. This seems to fill the window for me even though I love the 10mm std rounds but at full power of course. Ordered some Double Tap Nuclear Thunder 230g and will use that for the max tolerance or OVL On the bullets. What powder type is best and a rough powder charge do you use? I like the IMR800X but I would bet Blue Dot is slow enough the the flame would be fabulous. PMC or Winchester silver tips always had the best flask from my auto 1006 S&W
For powder, I have deducted that Hodgdon's Longshot is a very good choice. I will suggest a charge after I work it up more this coming year. A dash zero would be an amazing arm to own. Very jealous. Also need to play with the double tap offerings: was curious if any projectiles greater than 220 grains would start tumbling. With the extra cylinder, just a heads up, that the the ejector-rod+star is hand-fitted for the arm it came with. So if you got an extra cylinder+star, you may only be able to use the cylinder, then use the other components with it so all the timing is correct. I believe the hand is shaped by hand for each arm, and that hand is expecting the star to be just so. Could be off on that. But the work-around is fine.
@ good information thanks, actually just finished my cylinder boring and polish. I shot it with double tap 230grain ammo 1250 fps advertised velocity, but I have not run them on the Chrono. I did develop a load with 180 grain Hornady XTP and Acura nine POWDER but I have not fired them and do not want to share any data because it may be an unsafe load without testing. Looking at 41mag data 170gn load data and down loaded a little bit.
Where’d you find the brass?
gunbroker dot com
Thanks! I was on the backorder waitlist for awhile and finally got my 500 pieces last month.
Nice! Happened to me, too.
No shooting, no chronograph, whats the point of this video?
Uhhh.....you can get 10mm mag rounds from Double Tap. I had my S&W 10mm. converted to 10mm Magnum years ago and have at keast 400 rounds of the stuff.
Ya, I think I mention that in another vid. Glad they still offer it up.
Even though it is conversted to 10 mm Magnum can you still shot 40 S&W??
Yes. I actually shoot 40s as much as 10mm Mag from her. All via moon clips.
Yep.
Dude....... you look retarded.
Ya, it looks dumb. But it works. And doesn't feel bad.
If its an s&w its only a matter of time before that frame cracks. Id never own an s&w because of there constant copyright violations of many companies including highpoint (like who copies off highpoint literally the entire pistol and got sued in court over it and lost) not to mention multiple models cracking frames, and siding in with democrate politicians like the did with Hillary and bill clinton. My revolvers are all ruger and colt, f**k s&w
Use federal primers. Who did your conversion work?
Finally finding Federal primers fairly easily since government lockdowns, which I've heard is the way to go. Andy Horvath in OH did my conversion. He is super nice, but works by phone and snail-mail. But no snags with him: everything turned out amazing.
i want it in m1 carbine or ar carbine upper
Did he really Smith & Weston?
Who mod’d your cylinder, I have a Blackhawk I’d like to try this with my 40/10mm convertible, thanks
A fine smith named Andy Horvath. He came highly recommended from some equally fine smiths. He is old school; does business over the phone and snail-mail. I will definately be using him again for anything revolver related. Best of luck with your mod.
@@maudesmods thanks a bunch, would you say it’s on par with the 41 magnum?
@@DR676767 NP. My research has me to believe that it's on par with 41, but with better bullet selection. Win Win.
@@maudesmods did you go the cheapest route of 250 or so for the reaming of the cylinder or the full deal around 475? , I’m thinking cheaper because I’m not really going to be hunting with it but I still want to do it
@@DR676767 I only got done what I needed. The cheaper. Did the more expensive option involve the forcing cone or anything like that? Curious what else could be done... trigger job? I had some trigger work done previously from another smith. Which was very helpful. But you don't have a Smith & Wesson...
I got one also
