Daily DevOps | Why I'm Divorcing Kubernetes for Docker Compose!!
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.3 года назад
Kubernetes is the defacto standard for container orchestration, there is no doubt about it. The tooling, the support, the adoption, the job requirements. The DevOps/Cloud-Native World is Kubernetes. But Sometimes when hosting your own cluster, you can get tripped up. Today that happened. See why I left Kubernetes (temporarily) for Docker Compose (Sigh). Today I finally got gitea up and running.

6:52 is where I have been stuck for an uncomfortably long time. ChatGPT won't help. I was hoping you'd explain what's wrong in this video. Did you figure it out?
Joe what you up to these days? You hustling?
Golden ☀️
Hello brother, hope you are doing well. Just wanted to know how many programming languages do we need? I have some experience with Python but just basics and also I don't like it too much. Do you think I have to be very good at coding to suceed at this. I am hoping to become a cloud engineer but not really sure about coding so please if you can clarify this. Thanks in advance.
FANTASTIC!
This was such a great realistic video
So excellently guided and explained to the point !! Hats off !!
who is the professor he recommended for us to watch?
What additional skills would you recommend for a cloud security engineer?
Great video! A very solid road map. Much appreciated.
Fantastic video. Super accurate and prescriptive.
Is this still relevant today? Especially with growing technology such as AI?
AI has no impact on this.
Hi, the only think i know is basics in python, how much time does it take to master all the skills u said to land a job, Im doing my computer engineering. Hope u reply....
Well, 2 years later, and drone is now gitness, and it hasn't had a release in months. Also it's missing so many features....
Thanks!
So great information, wish you could write in short too as i am new to this and half of the things get over my head
Should I pursue an AWS certificate or a GCP Associate Cloud Engineer course? I've applied for the GCP course already. Can I pursue AWS after completing the GCP Associate Cloud Engineer course? Please tell I am really confused right now
So much to learn so little time
Great advice
Bro abhi job nhi he hath me. To priority job he I will continue in application support role. Not looking for Devops or cloud. Badme chance Mila to internal cloud team me switch krenge.. Par abhi to job hi Lena he....
Is this still pretty up to date for path towards cloud engineering? i've been going through A+ and might go for the test soon. Also how much should I expect to spend before I have a job? Video was very helpful thank you.
Yes still up to date. Spend what time or money? Also what’s your experience? If you have 0 IT experience expect a very long uphill battle. There are very few “entry level” cloud roles for a reason. A good cloud engineer has a broad generalist skill set from other fields. The most common path is to start as a sysadmin/help desk roles and pivot to cloud.
@@joeterlecki Yeah pretty much zero IT experience. I expect it to be an uphill battle but some people are helping me and I feel like this the kinda job I wanna work my way into. I'm hoping I can get an entry job while I work retail in a year or so if not two. I know taking the exams cost a decent amount of money so I was wondering what else might be a huge hurtle money wise. The only other thing I can think of off hand is the VM's and Udemy courses.
@shotsniper009 if I where you, I would try to get a junior linux sysadmin role. Get the foundations from a+ net+ and sec+ because even though we are in the cloud a lot of the info transfers. And will solidly your career moving forward. While learning that. Start daily driving Linux for everything. Get comfortable with Linux as it will never go away. After you been using Linux for a while and got at least the first 2 comptia certs, start studying the RHCSA cert. get that and then start applying. This process should take you 9 months to a year but will out you on a path to make well over 6 figures The cloud builds on all these fundamentals but the theory will never teach how businesses operate and dealing with legacy crap. My first cloud role payed just under 100k but I had 1.5 - 2 years experience in cyber security and been using Linux/scripting for at least 5. I was also working on an information security/IT bachelors over the course of 6 years part time. If you don’t have any experience you need to play the long game and build foundations
@@joeterlecki Ok I think I follow. thanks so much man. Probably a strange question but would it be a bad idea to learn linux through a VM? Was kinda worried about doing a dual boot.
@shotsniper009 yeah it works. I bought an old Lenovo thinkpad from eBay for like 300 bucks and installed Linux natively on it and forced my self to use it. Both approaches work just depends on the individual. If I had l t daily drove Linux I would have acted like water and went with the path of least resistance. Using Linux as your daily driver teaches you how to troubleshoot and google/documentation for answers.
The man dropped jewles, gmes, diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. Nothing but actionable steps info. Thanks man.
thanks
G whiss total newbie ! Looking at a crash course with Optima in the uk for a google engineering!
really valuable content
How to decide the direction that you want to go ! Im struggling with this for months- i really need help
Great advice.. I’ve been trying to secure cloud but avoiding the engineering path, I’ve been reading comments and I saw your reply stating “you have to know how to build it to secure it” 💣 The 11:12 minute mark is motivation! Time to get hands dirty!
Any links to all things said in the video. Including free link to the python crash course book
Is Azure just another platform with similar functionality as AWS?
Thank You so much Joe. Kindly tell me that Python Crash course Book's by who (author) ?
High-quality stuff. I read a related book that was equally high-quality. "AWS Unleashed: Mastering Amazon Web Services for Software Engineers" by Harrison Quill
Never had to use Linux, been in I.T over 20 years and cloud engineer for 10. Powershell and windows is all I've ever needed. There are plenty of companies not using containers. Containers is more of a specialty within cloud. Not required.
If you are working with companies that are developing software and it’s not using container, they are very legacy. Just because your experience is the exception doesn’t make it the norm. Yes there are 100 percent windows shops and legacy companies but they are the minority. And Linux is 100 percent required for cloud engineering and devops roles. If you don’t believe me try to get an offer without that experience
please create tutorial for hostgator thanks
thanks, amazing but difficult to understand your english, somehow.. what did you speak at 7.26? thanks man.. you are god to many...
For people who are completely new to IT. Which one of these steps would you suggest we learned first if you know nothing
This takes at least 1 year full time dedicated education...leaving money on the side!🥴
If you have 0 experience easily. Cloud engineering pays well into 6 figures. Good money don’t come easy my friend
Hey brother, do you have a book or website/course you would recommend for learning linux? I just started learning and although I can do everything you mentioned in this video, I feel like I need more practical exercises. Like a course that'll present me with labs to work with. any suggestions would be appreciated
I had the same question
Oh great, cos I'm following your other video about getting started in cloud computing. Just got an external ssd to install linux. Now which distro?
For someone with 0 experience. Should I start by getting A+ certified or go into cloud certification?
13:30 bro is so hard on himself he just cancelled himself in his own video
Nice video !!
First RUclipsr I’ve seen in years that explains the basics
Excellent video, Joe. Clear, well organized and to the point. Thank you!
All of this before applying for a single job? Why not just go get a degree?
Because cloud engineering is a mid level role that pays easily between 150-200k usd
great video!
HELLO MY FREND, I think I am late to ask this question, you mentioned a lot about how to start with cloud engineer, so how much long it will take to take all these courses ?
Amazing information❤
Very informative, thanks
