Building rad cars that are not that fast but are fun to drive
We LOST the SHOP! // 😭
Well like every good reality show they always seem the almost lose the shop. Well we really did! Haha So unfortunately the owner of the building we rent from is putting it up for sale(did you really think we could afford that whole place?!) and we have to move. Cars are going into storage and all the parts need to find a home. But this won’t stop us we still have a garage and plenty of projects! So stay tuned and stick around as we figure out what is next! Thanks for watching!

RX7 Watts Link & 4 Link Upgrade // 1981 Mazda RX7 FB
Просмотров 2266 месяцев назад
We address the rear end of this neglected RX7. With some new polyurethane bushings. Like the front these bushings are shot, they are dry rotted and stiff as a board. We started with the four link and it took everything to get them out. From pressing them to burning them with FIRE! After that we moved on to the Watts link which we discovered a bent link! Nothing a pipe and some pulling power can...

The “race car” gets new suspension. Replacing everything in the from ball joints to bushings. The car had a dead wheel and after this it feels and handles a lot better. Almost like new ha not. It will still need more work but this was a big step forward in getting the car ready for the track! Front end Fail and Finished! 61 Beetle King pin and brakes completed // 2inch Drop Spindles
Просмотров 2657 месяцев назад
This is what we did the last month! We found out king pins are no easy task. With the need of special tools and the cost of those tools we took them to the professionals. After having our loc Volkswagen shop build the king pins the rest was cake. We installed new link pins, 2inch drop spindles, and new brakes and bearings! The front end is read to roll. Thanks for watching! Speed Shark Shop ets...

How to Replace Floor Pans // 1961 VW Beetle! Front end Removal!
Просмотров 6529 месяцев назад
We start the rust repair process. First is replacing the whole passenger side floor pan. It’s rooted completely out! After reaching out on some local club pages I was able to get two floor pans for free! I do believe they are a slightly newer year but they fit. We also are able to get the front end removed for disassembly and paint. We are lucky that the floor pan is the only rust on the pan. O...

How to REBUILD the front end of a “SUPER BEETLE!” (Thinking inside the box)
Thank you for the video! I've had my 2003 Tacoma for about 7 months now and something unwanted to do when I bought it was to upgrade the lights for offroading and general safety. My headlight lenses are too far gone, so I'll probably order some new Anzo headlights since they are pretty good quality, and then these bulbs?
Now this is something I’ll try with my 60’s Cub Cadet garden tractor project before I think about paint…I wanted to try the Comet wash but like you, didn’t want the chemicals…got plenty of Bon Ami on hand and thought it would work as a good substitute! Good work! 👍
Very good...thanks!
Appreciate it!
There's not much content on the FB. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for watching!! Yeah there’s not much on these cars. I have more planned for it soon
Good video. Where are you in the project? I hope your still on it. Thanks
Thanks!! I am currently enjoying driving it right now. But next is to pull the transmission and then rebuild the rear suspension. I have everything for it but waiting until the winter to start.
Good luck on the move and whatever new shop you find!
What did your local shop charge to ream and assemble your king pin carrier/ dropped spindles?
Thanks for watching they charged around $300 and I provided the parts. I think it was alittle high but I didn’t have a choice
Hey guys! Thanks for the awesome video. I’m getting ready to do full air ride on my 63 bug. Doing my homework and your video has helped me out on the whole king pin link pin carrier. The reaming tool is pretty expensive. I may have my local VW shop rebuild mine. Cheers!
Rear brake installation
Can do. We will be doing a full rear end rebuild
looks like original 36 horse. and the leak looked like oil cooler seals.
what size drill bit did you use I have same issue
When taking the drums off all you need to do is back off the brakes with the adjusting screw located on the outside of the drum itself. You'll see a little circle on the outside drum you can then turn the drum until you can see through the hole and locate the star adjusters on the brakes just use a screwdriver and just back them off.
I raced one of these in hare scrambles in 2000...trying to kick start this thing, on the opposite side after dropping it, good luck...lol. It was gorgeous though!!
Those old baja tires were actualy fine they are in abut the same conditon as mine and they take the abuse fine
Keep going!!!
Thanks!
That sucks about losing the shop.
We will rebuild!!! Ha
Good luck finding new place! 👊🏽✌🏽
Thanks!!
All that time figuring out how to lift it and you two could have picked it up and carried it onto the trailer.
I like the stock sound of pea shooter exhaust. It’s that VW chirp I love so much. It’s not a power set up for sure, but its own distinct sound.
I have the same bike (1999 TE610) Seems there are a lot of subtle changes over the years so finding someone with the exact same year is pretty cool. I'm currently trying to get mine running after a few years sitting do to health problems. I cleaned the carb up but haven't gotten it to start up yet. Fuel line routing is a nightmare but I think the diagram you showed helps to simplify things. Also, the inlet on my carb is facing straight down so I just run the piece of line from the bottom nipple on the petcock in a U shape and back up into the carb. My bike has a Baja light kit and is tagged for street in California. I'll probably sell it after I get it running.
I’m just posting here to help the algorithm.
Love the video. What parking brake cable did you use as I can not find one that works for my 60 Ranchero on Amazon.
I looked through my Amazon and eBay account. I can’t find where I got the cable from. Maybe rockauto
@@speedsharkgarage1787 ok, thank you.
Great video and work on the bushings! At 5:30 ts made me pull my foot back also! 😂
Thanks!! Yeah the one time I wasn’t wearing boots about took my toe off!
Love the image of the duct tape wound cover on the man about to use a blowtorch
Hahaha thanks. That one really hurt! Hand ended up swelling up that night
soon.
Trust me I am ready to work more on the 2002. Just wanting to get the rest of the cars at least street ready.
@@speedsharkgarage1787 I dig the rx7 content. I've been watching a lot of atcc races from the early-mid 80's when the mazdas gave the v8's a run for their money.
It's such a shame you can't buy rubber bushings anywhere. Maybe someone knows from which other cars it is possible to fit
I will have to change mine soon but I don't want poly
Yeah i looked but i didnt dig to deep as i needed to get the job done. But they seemed like very generic sizes. Definitely could find some from another car.
@@speedsharkgarage1787 There are suspension bushings that are half-bushings, half-ball joints, for BMWs or Vectras. I'm thinking if I could swap those instead of regular bushes to bypass the rear binding problem
Real projects with real issues. Love it. The time it takes is always longer than expected. Thanks for not cutting out the challenges.
Thanks! I appreciate you saying that.
easy grease access!
honesty on youtube, what a concept
it's not that you taped the boot that makes this great, it's that you did it, documented it and then shared it with the world. i'd only do the first part... and since you won't do it, i'll go work on a 2002 and will not document it, well maybe i'll make an Instagram post, but probably not.
Haha thanks! I have been wanting to work on the 2002 but then I drive it and think, man I don’t want this off the road it’s to fun lol.
I used the poly bushings in my rx7 build. Still havnt got it on the ground. Finishing up the front brakes right now which I'll have a video up on that. But I will say the poly bushings really stiffened the front end so far. Can't wait to get it back on the road.
Keep at it! Great work and enjoy seeing the progress. And I appreciate that sometimes it makes sense to outsource a particular task or step to a specialist.
Match the paint and you’re done
Might happen!
On 15:22 what name of this and 15:23 how I can buy it
Rocker retainers I believe. You can get them from Ireland engineering
So happy for you man, we all gonna get there, working out the details on a 09 Cobalt SS myself making 395
Thanks! That’s awesome very underrated car!
@@speedsharkgarage1787 honestly even I slept on them until I saw how cheap they are going for right now mines only 9.5K for a fully built car and everything checks its amazing everything else was easily 10K or more. Did consider a FC for awhile but then the pandemic hit now they are going for like 15-20 for decent examples now...oof
Seriously 😅😊😂
Awesome!
Where did you get those feeler gauges ??
I have had them for long time. I believe blue point/snap-on. But I got them used so I don’t know where to find them new
I found this video informative and full of useful information that nearly anyone can implement to improve their life, instantly. Also, we get a special treat when the contents of the upper "Workorder Residue" drawer is finally revealed. Quality You Tube entertainment.
Hahahaha my favorite drawer
Elvis Presley edition buggy with all terrain mud tires each 265mm width of tread and fiberglass is from 5051VW garage and vintage VW parts used parts storage in Pennsylvania. Too much work and so order from Western Wolfsburg for rear main seal and gasket kit for why kill the original where sand dune bug rode in California Arizona dunes is worth less than $5,000 dollars and original Kafer is worth almost $100,000.00 dollars worth of Beetle color replicas of Mother in Air Force that she drove her Army and white star on red bug on both side embalmed of the Army. Late Dad is retired second class Airman.
The clutch line is snap off and it probably is broken cable and where to plasma cut the underside that in the bottom pan have the expose the cable and make clutch into disengage and engage able. Plus there is hole pipe for cable going thru under rear seat and I think it is for heat pull open heater and also for emergency brake strands/ wire go into the hole/tube as loose not tight on the movement of cable.
You can have the engine but the title will be hard to come by unless you have a good lawyer that a giveaway the Beetle color red and all I'd perfectly in order as original and the engine looks old and it is not a swap engine. Qualified you to get a new pink slip because it is inside the service of my axe returned technician and get Brake job is the highest priority for 1961 Beetle 1500.
Slot of oil leak from the engine. The transmission cannot leak compare to big leak. Only engine can do that leaking oil. This is not rebuild engine. There is research in the carburator and accelerator gas pump is very corrosion in most of the time but we'll check and see?
Pull simple to have the valve cover comes right off. The color is black soot thinning gum to the cylinder head, is it?
The electrons is weak differences of two posts force. The body metal of the Kafer is static but it will be grounded by touching the dirt outside with wire cable. Another way is use the magnet screwdriver and flick the point in distributor until it flick arc jump across. Then static is neutralized and not interfere with positive and negative charges.and
Oil cooler have aged to the time of 1961 until 2023 ad tt hen the oil cooler seal hasn't leak yet. I think it is to see if the seal is soft like new. We don't know. Smelling gases and smoke from exhaust will tell that it is not rebuild. Cool flow of exhaust and very little hydrocarbon in tailpipe is great. Oil temperature gauge with copper tube from the sensor or ambient temperature sensor or laser thermometer will tell if the engine is not over heat.
The older man dies is just a friend to a lady. The lady was named Herbie.
Yes down in gullet. This one gully is gas line and another meaning for gullet is shock coil touching up there is the round gully.
The wrench for oil strainer and bottom lid needs to have magnet install and oil is clean but check the oil and change oil for oil cooler needs 5W30 oil detergent. Wire brush get a loan of tools from a friend to check for trans axle and transmission look like it's leaking gear oil. The Channel heat flow in rocker panel will take some work on rebuild the press hard of the thick foil of steel gauge 27 - 28 atop the old pan buy the 6 foot x 8 foot sheet from professional garage building with where welder and California sent the USA steel of roll into wheel of tin sheet to Texas worker union at Volkswagen Camper with floor on wheels dealership of info by calling for a price of the new replacement.
Drive it now but make sure the blinkers and head light works. Have Herbie belly fill with red tube and spray some oil Lubrican and tighten spark plug thread to the hole of the jug. number 53 racer had a collision and badly damaged front bumper and bonnet.
The color red and pant in a 1961 Volkswagen 1500cc wagon bug that could it be compression of cylinders and rings go to very low PSI? yes, it usually does after wear it out and sound like very low volume of the 4 bangers. Why not add dual carburetors and EMPI Parts linkages.
