    Thanks for the video! Did you notice your winch rope is coming off the spool at a bad angle out the front? I had this issue while installing mine and following the SATV instructions. The one they showed was spun the opposite way and came out correct in the photo. So we have two choices. Flip the winch horizontally on the mount, which puts a wire lug into the front plastic. Or rewind it in reverse and wire it backwards which is what SATV cusomer service suggested I do. I was worried the gearing was not built for that but they assure me it is.

    I will admit the sheet metal liner parts are nicely stamped and cut, but wonder how tough the corrosion resistance is, plus perhaps having them Line-X’ed for corrosion and sound deadening? You know with those aggressive tires some stones will be thrown. Why not offer them on some type of polymer material?

    You keep pulling on the steering wheel to get in, you are going to flex the dash enough to break the printed circuit board in the dash. Put a grab handle on the windshield pillar, USE THAT TO GET IN AND OUT.

    It's a ~40 year old vehicle, of Course everything is wore out. Engine likely needs Everything. Might want to look at the rod bearings while you're in there. If you are not all-in, just put it back together & sell it. You could investigate a 5.7L Mopar swap, don't have to go all the way to 6.4L. Any swap will be expensive though, unless you got a 'free' motor. Lots of info online on FSJ engine swaps. PS: Just the radiator alone for an LS swap is $655 + shipping. "Oooh an LS swap is Sooo Cheap"

    • @SantosOnTV
      @SantosOnTV 4 месяца назад

      Who said it’s cheap? Complete engine, tranny, transfer case rebuild isn’t a lot cheaper than getting an old Tahoe and swapping over all the parts. The benefit of more horsepower, better mpg and reliability are worth it. You don’t need to drop $655 on a radiator. Half that price will get a great aluminum radiator that will do the job. Used gas tanks are cheap, out of a S10 or blazer will work.

  • @SantosOnTV
    @SantosOnTV 4 месяца назад

    I hear your reasoning for keeping it pure, but I guess it comes down to what you plan to do with it? LS swap is hard to beat if you want power and reliability, better mpg and easy replacement and upgrade parts. The original engines in the Wagoneer are just pretty much made up of other Chrysler, AMC motors depending on the year. I’m in the middle of a 1987 Wagoneer LS swap. I had the same dilemma you are having. Even worse, I’m in California and it’s gotta be smog inspected. Everything in my GW was tired and needed major attention. After adding up all the costs involved the best route for me was to buy a complete car and use everything from it to build a better GW and pass inspection. There are tons of old, cheap rigs out there perfect for a LS swap. I bought a 100,00 mile 2004 Yukon Denali with a 6.0 for $3,000. It’s AWD. Took everything out. ECU, harness, smog equipment, exhaust, cats, motor, trans, transfer case. I got everything I needed except maybe gas tank and radiator. At this point it’s almost all in the Wagoneer and hopefully firing it up next month. By the time you buy the parts for the stock motor, rebuild it, rebuild the tranny and transfer case and maybe put fuel injection to make it more reliable you’re gonna be close to the same price to an LS swap. And the fact that you are doing the work is even better because the labor is the most expensive part of the swap. Anyway I like the videos and Iooking forward to see what you make of your Wagoneer!✌️

      @2ndChanceOverland Well, I ended up installing mine a couple weekends ago and it worked out okay. I guess the only issue people are running into is if they don't have the "high" fenders. I've seen them destroyed by having to cut reliefs in them... some horrible hack jobs. Mine did extend past the edge on the back, so I just angle cut and razor-edged it to look similar to the front

    Just got a Pro 6 for my 392 as a gift. Have always wanted a light bar since i was a kid. Anywho. After looking at reviews for bars on Jeeps i am debating on keeping. I use more on road and for speed vs offroad right now. How as the windnoise been on this 392? I live in a snowy climate, so i am regular at the carwash a couple times a week, how does it do in a car wash?

    • @2ndChanceOverland
      @2ndChanceOverland 5 месяцев назад

      I love my Pro6's. Wind noise is a non-issue for me with this light bar. Under certain conditions you can get slightly more noise than normal but typically you don't notice any at all from it. Not like the big rectangular light bars that are atrocious with wind noise. The Pro6 sits lower on the windshield than most light bars instead of high over catching all the wind. I dont take my vehicle through automatic car washes any more. The brush style car washes are really hard on the paint, leaving micro-scratches in the clear coat and far too much friction. Plus we had an issue with an automatic car wash with one of our previous Jeeps and decided it was best to avoid them. I hand wash all my vehicles at home and the Pro6 does make it a little harder to clean the windshield and frame but not terrible.

    Fun to watch. I’m doing an LS swap in my 1987. Just too many issues with the tired old motor and the upgrade isn’t gonna cost me much more than rebuilding the old boat anchor. More power, more reliability and better mileage and easier maintenance. I’d like to see you do an LS swap on yours. It’d be nice to see you do it.
