Fierce Firearms Review - Troubleshooting a Gun with Lots of Problems!
Here's my review of the Fierce Twisted Rival. I was so excited to get this gun! But unfortunately it's turned out to have been a real headache. After 9 months and hundreds of $$, I did finally get it to shoot straight but there's a real caveat that comes with that. I would never take it hunting!
That said, even though it's been frustrating that this gun has been a disappointment, I learned a lot as I tested it every way that I could think of.
Let me know what you think!
Fierce eventually asked me to send the rifle back to them to see if it was out-of-spec. I knew what that meant: I would have to pay for shipping and for their time if it passed all of their tests. I didn't want to do that wit...

Desert Turkeys?! Limited Entry Turkey Hunt in Utah's West Desert
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
We don't know a lot of turkey hunters, so we didn't really know where to find them on public land in Utah. We've done a lot of searching but not a lot of finding. This led us to the Pilot Mountains in Western Utah. A very strange place to look for turkeys.
Turkey Hunt in Northern Utah
Просмотров 408Год назад
My sons both got limited entry 2023 turkey tags for Northern Utah. We'd had so much fun hunting on private land that we were really looking forward to this. We did as much research as we could and decided to try a place recommended by the Utah DWR (about 3 hours away). But after lots of driving, calling, hiking, can calling, we found no sign of turkeys whatsoever! I don't think we'll be back to...

This is the first of a group of videos I plan to post documenting our hunt preparation for this year (2023). We don't know a lot, so we make a lot of mistakes but we're obsessed with hunting, so we're learning a lot, and I think it's cool to document our progress, not to mention the amazing things we're doing!

Junk. You spent wayyy too much on this riffle. I had to return my 6.5 PRC 4 times. Never again. If anyone out there wants to try them out, my suggestion would be DO NOT , buy a Bergara, way point, Christensen, seekins, etc.

I purchased a 300RUM same rifle otherwise. Shot groups were inconsistent as well. I traced the problem back to the scope mount. I went through 2 sets, scope was slipping due to recoil inertia. Put a Spuhr mount on problems went away.

Always hate to see issues like this happen to anyone, but they do and will happen with all guns. I own two Fierce CT EDGE and Carbon Fury in 6.5 PRC both are 1/2 to 1/4 MOA all day long. I also have Browning, Winchester, Remington, In several calibers that shoot good as well. My CT Edge had a problem with bullet sticking inside the bore after I first got it; I called and talked with John he asked me to send the rifle to him and how I-shipped to him he would ship back the same way. I was called back and was told that they found and fixed the problem, I believe it had something to do with the reaming. Long story short got it back never had another problem, shoots lights out, and harvested many hogs and deer! That was 4.5 years ago. Thanks John and Cody! For what this is worth I will say you don’t make the best rifles; no one does, but you make an awesome rifle; that shoots well for me! Thanks again!

I think that barrel has some stress in it, either from the machining process, or from straitening it. You may want to see if someone near you can cryo it. If there are any custom barrel makers around, they may have a cryo vat.

I've developed loads for OTC rifles and had .78 and .82 w/ 5 shot groups after epoxy bedding the actions. I did fire about every minute and then let it cool down completely before another 5 shot group with a different powder charge. I expected more from your semi-custom rifle. You put a bunch of time, money, and effort into working out the kinks. I hoped you would find the sweet spot.

I wish you publised this video sooner. I would not buy anything from them and will spread the words. I wont even sell my riffle, I will be bad for the next person. I will carry it to the gun range every week and let it sit there for a discussion. This company can not produce quality riffle at all.

Have a fierce carbon rival in 300 wsm. After about 60 shots (trying to shrink my groups under 1moa with different loads) the extractor broke off. Sent it back to fierce for repair and it took 2 months to get back. After another 80-100 shots the same thing happened. Took it to a gunsmith because I didn’t want to want to wait 2 months. It has never shot under a 1.2 moa group after trying 6 different bullets/loads. It looks cool in my safe though which is where it will stay. My $800 tikka is always at or under 1 moa.

Guess it depends on what you can recover out of selling it. I've looked at Fierce, Christiansen, Kimber, Nosler, and a few other higher end US guns, couldn't justify them. I have some US guns I bought over time that did work well, had just as many that didn't. European or Japanese builds have not disappointed me, some of them were a lot more money, but worth every penny of it, and I got what I wanted in some cases, where US builds were not available.

Fierce makes garbage rifles to go along with terrible customer service, I have several friends that purchased one and sold them quickly there after. Christensen is in the same boat, take that $2100 go to a pawn shop or local gun store find an old Model 70 or Rem 700 spend $400 on a Bartlein barrel take it to reputable rifle smith have it properly chambered and action blueprinted and it will shoot like a house on fire. Check out Kevin Weaver in Colorado Springs he builds hammers!

I have the Fierce Rival XP. Had major issues with it and lost hope. But then…. Pulled it back out of the safe, changed my scope, and my muzzle break. When the barrel is 90 degrees or below, it shoots like a charm. Anything above 90 is erratic. That’s been my experience…

UPDATE: Cody from Fierce commented on this video in order to make sure Fierce's position was represented. Here's an excerpt: "The offer still stands that was presented to Hunting Dad. The offer that was presented, was to get the rifle in to our facility and check it out for any issues, on our dime. The first email I sent in response included a prepaid shipping label for Hunting Dad to use to send the rifle back in. The only point I wanted to make, is that we wanted the rifle in our possession to examine and test it before any decision was made. Once we had the rifle and was able to examine and test it, then we could have a conversation based on those results. I am still happy to work with Hunting Dad on his rifle, the label I sent is still valid and may be used to ship the rifle to us on our dime." I mentioned this response at the end of the video. My issue with it was that, while they were willing to pay for shipping to their facility, they weren't willing to promise not to charge me for their time and shipping back from their facility. I had every reason to believe that my rifle would pass their tests (as it had twice before) and if it did, I would be on the hook for another $200 or so. So, I told them that I'd be happy to ship it back if they agreed to 1) not charge me any more money and 2) adjust their tests to accommodate the issues I identified. I thought this was fair and a great opportunity for Fierce to satisfy an unhappy customer and incorporate some free product research. Cody's response: "...we cannot find common ground here. We will not be able to meet the requirements you have presented." He changed his tune after this video started getting some traction. Cody commented again, to say, "If you want to take down the video, I will issue you a refund as you wanted previously. Let me know." $2,100 is a lot of money, but not enough to buy my soul. I decided to keep the video up.

How can you bash a company when they want to make it right in the end. No one is perfect in this world. I had the same experience you had with Weatherby Vanguard except their guarantee is only 1” and not .5 like fierce. Who wants a guarantee of only 1”. Fierce is making it right and you’re here trying to gain traction. Send the rifle back and let them make it right for you. You won’t be disappointed when you get the rifle back. I can guarantee that! I’m sure if you asked they may even put the carbon Barrel on. Sounds like that’s what you really want but didn’t want to pay the extra cost. Choice is yours.

    • @TheRealReidMeister
      @TheRealReidMeister Месяц назад

It’s not about making it right. If Fierce does not have the processes in place to verify a “good” gun (I.e discounting cold bore shots or having quality issues that create an undesirable gun that they can not identify through inspection or testing) then they have no real standard to send anything “good” out to the customer. This is a potential quality issue that they clearly do not care to rectify or lack the capability of rectifying. My dad just recently bought a Fierce in 7 PRC and it is not able to hold groups (anywhere from 1.5-4in). We are going through extensive ammo testing at the moment and we hope to find something it likes. If this continues to be a problem that people see, Fierce really needs to look at their inspection and testing process (as well as customer service standards) to solve these issues.

Best 5 shot group it has done is .44 moa. But like I said, I am a new shooter. I have no doubts that in a lead sled, it could do half moa or better with most factory 168gr.

If you still have the rifle and would like it to shoot I would love to rebarrel it wit a good bartlien or kreiger barrel and do a proper pillar bed job on that stock and check the tolerances in ther actions I'm sure it would shoot. Christiansen replaced the barrel within a few weeks, paid for all shipping, and it shoots sub 1/2” MOA consistently now. Your video has definitely put the brakes on me buying a Fierce and now leaning more towards a Proof Research complete build. I used brain Litz’s top gun theory to predict their group size, made them all shoot a 10 shot group with as much cooling as they wanted (it took a long time) and boy did everyone’s guns not shoot the way they claimed and worked out really close to the top gun theory, the smallest group was 1.5” from a rifle that shot “0.5 MOA” 😂

When you see a chamber and throat area that looks that pitted and neglected it will NEVER shoot. The barrel has been damaged. And next when you requested and received a new barrel that was in similar condition....? That tells you who you are dealing with. You can go broke trying to make something shoot that will never shoot well. And damage your brain through frustration. Let it go. Save your pennies and have a rifle built by a known gunsmith with a good reputation. Eliminate all of the variables from the start.

Have you tried changing the torque on the action screws to see if it changes your groups? The inconsistency leads me to believe something on the rifle is moving or there is uneven pressure on your action or barrel in the stock. Bedding the action would probably help, too. The expansion of the barrel under heat might be causing something in the stock to touch.
