Yes, he’s all head, you put it well. When taking his picture, I turn his butt toward the camera so his head looks more in proportion. I’ve always been on the fence about this mold. Moody sculpts are all about movement and attitude which hold a lot of appeal for me so I do own two Nokotas. I love the one you chose, I believe it’s one of the best. Really enjoyed your video, you did a great job. I subscribed. Best wishes!

For me Nokota is A tier 😅 I own 45 models on this mold. Im only missing the top 3 glossies, Viajero, Muse and Spindeltop. By now they are probably out of my budget/price range. Im glad to have spent the money I spent a few years ago when I could. And when I see what ones currently list for my jaw drops.

I have the Glossy Bay Shelby. The April Fool's one is okay but the forelock reminds me of Elvis lol. But I'm happy with the glossy I got. All three of the gambler's choices were nice.

I have a couple Nokotas. One of the downsides is they are real space hogs. I haven't shown any of mine but I have had at least one out for a photo shoot and he is a difficult one to pose as too much one way or another really makes him look put together wrong. I have found several models like that really. You just have to play around until you find just the right angle that doesn't make them look wonky. I really like Bats in the Belfry. That one is a favorite of mine.

I also bought a BRYER horse named HOT FUDGE.

I used to collect bryer horses every year. Many I bought myself at retail stores. I love the ones with real hair.they were so realistic and fun

I never got any of these models til I bought the Gambler's choice Shelby. As I am a die hard pinto lover, I am cursed by Breyer because whenever they offer the gamblers choice with a pinto I always get the appaloosa. Needless to say this was no different. I got the appaloosa one. I was going to sell him but I set him where I could see him and he grew on me so he will stay. I would like to get him in pinto at some point.

So after seeing Nokota in so many different iterations, some of which you think are really nice, would you say that the available options influences whether a Breyer is F-Tier? Or is it primarily based on the mold?

My friend Shannon is “Queen of the Nokota mold”. She has two of the BF auction models including that lovely glossy bay tobiano pinto. I’m going to send her this video. She’ll be pleased that you now see the charms of the mold. I like the mold well enough but I didn’t realize I had so many on it until you started listing them. I have a bit of a soft spot for it because I was drawn for both of the raffles - Viajero & Muse. I also have Moon Warrior, Bats in the Belfrey, glossy bay POC, Sundance (who I sold then bought back) & the crystal. I also had Toro at one point but sold him. That’s a lot for a mold that I think is ok. Mine do well at live shows, especially for an older mold. That will probably chance once the new PC Mustang mare is released. The Viajero & Muse have stacks of NAN cards but that’s to be expected of raffle models. The glossy bay POC & Sundance have a couple of breed NAN cards each. Moon Warrior has only been to one show & he NAN’ed in breed & collectibility. So the mold does well. Don’t worry about not posting as many vids. I’ll be here to watch whenever they drop.

Looks like so much fun. I'm always amazed and so happy when I see everyone's significant other going along and enjoying the experience.

I’ve been collecting Breyers since I was a child, and still have one of my first Classics, a gray Mesteno mold, that I got when I turned 8. I’m 25 now. Over time I have realized that Chris Hess, as revolutionary a sculptor as he was for Breyer, has questionable proportions in legs, hooves and faces, his manes being textured like he ran a dinner fork through them. Nowadays, Kitty Cantrell, Sommer Prosser, Sue Kern, Kathleen Moody and Brigette Eberl have smoothed out the form of the horse, and the quality has gone up since the 70s, with hiccups of course. I have no clue how it took me this long to find this channel or why only so many have, but I love your videos. They are so thorough and well edited, keep it up!

I have the glossy honey bay and Cheerio. I love them and wish they would make some new colors on this mold.

I found one of the bay ones at an old ghost town gift shop. She went perfectly with a drafty foal I found at goodwill. Awesome model!

I like longer videos & I enjoyed seeing you experience your first BF & exploring the KHP. Don’t give up on getting Frankensteed. I conga the PAS & when I saw that the SR’s for the Big Easy Bash had a glossy sorrel PAS, Beignet, that was a run of 8, I was heartbroken because I just knew I’d never have one for my own. The first BF after the Big Easy Bash there was a woman selling one at the swap meet for $2500 which was way out of my budget. I made her an offer but she declined. She was gracious enough to let me hold & take photos. I walked away thinking that was the closest I’d ever come to having my own Beignet & I was grateful. A year later I found one for sale at a price I could afford on Model Horse Blab. I met up with the seller at BF & paid for him & he’s the pride of my collection. If I managed to find Beignet I’m certain you’ll find Frankensteed one day. Your husband is a good sport & lots of fun. Having a spouse who supports your hobbies & interests is a blessing. I’m so glad I got to meet you both when you picked up the foals from Andrea’s collection. Please email me when you have the time so we can stay in touch.

A lot of that was fun but there was something very creepy about the horses pacing backwards!

I have the 1985 Riegsecker set of four shires and the 2019 decorator shires 'Bernadette' in all four colors. I'm still missing a couple that I may never find but I shall never give up looking for them. My most favorite shire mare is the glossy Copenhagen. I have a custom Copenhagen and a custom red roan. They're beautiful to me. I like your videos. I'm 60 now and I started collecting Breyer when I was 7 in Vista CA. I now live in Wisconsin just north of Milwaukee. Joel C. :)

It's nice to see you talking about the Breyer shire. She is my favorite Breyer traditional molds. My shire conga is currently 45 models.

Try having a performance judge deliberately mess your setup up cause she doesn't like you. I had 3 judges do that to me a few times. That's why I stopped showing in performance. And the last few shows I went to , I showed halter only and had all but 2 horses DQ'd cause another shower who didn't like me told the judge a bunch of lies. So, I stopped showing all together. My last live show was in 2016.

I really enjoyed this series! I think I want to go through them and pick my top 1-2 models for each mold (that are reasonably obtainable, though likeey "ouchy" cost-wise!

Nokota is weird, but has LOTS of motion, which makes it a favorite for me when taking "traveling photos" :)

I understand the frustration of dancing and horse riding. I took riding lessons in college (loved it), and later I was a ballroom dancer for fun, but was decent at it (I love learning new steps). Back, hip, foot problems make riding and dancing both really difficult for me. Also totally agree with expensive horses. Holo Uffington, Spot on Roxy mold, Apollo on SJW.. these are some of mine that I will probably never justify buying if though I *could* buy them!

I love my Justin Morgan. He has a kind expression and just looks sweet. He's nostalgic since I consider him my first model horse, and he's still in great shape!

I just started watching these and enjoy them. However, it would be good if you had an introduction video. Why tier S? How is it different from A tier? What is your own experience with models and real horses? What criteria do you personally use to judge these consistently?

Regarding the warehouse find vs the original 90's model, there are also differences in the painting technique/application and the finish. The 90's ones are definitely duller and matte and the warehouse finds are a bit shinier/satin looking. I don't own either but I'm pretty confident the warehouse finds (of all the re-releases from that era) were painted in China and would have VINs. "Warehouse finds" I imagine might refer more to overstock of whiteware/bodies that they didn't otherwise have plans for at the time, so they painted them up in older colors. Some of these, like the Clydesdale Mare, had their original runs in the colorway repeated not long before the warehouse editions, so they don't look as different from the originals as the Shire or the Old Timer in appaloosa. It is interesting how the different eras have distinct paint style differences, it might be hard to explain in detail, but basically I can look at most models and identify the general time period they're from just by the techniques used to create them, how the result appears visually at least. I definitely am not privy to any behind the scenes info on production. Essentially, the older Shire is Very 90's and the warehouse find is Very Modern (at this point, I haven't seen as many distinct differences over the course of the China era, but I think there are enough small differences between the 2000's and post 2010...with hindsight in a few years maybe the 2020's will have certain visual markers as well that differentiate them from the 2010's.)

Over the years I’ve had 3 Shire Mares: Sears Palomino, Smoke & Mirrors as well as Cheerio. I’ve only kept the Palomino. I wish they’d do one in a pretty flaxen chestnut. I’m really looking forward to your BF videos.

I think her head & face are her best features myself. The feathering has never quite looked real. I prefer the old bubble butt Belgian to the Shire personally. I kinda like the drafters. :) I'm interested in seeing more of these.

I played with Breyer horses as a kid instead of dolls. Finally got real horses when I was 13 years old. I still have my horse toys from childhood.
