We occasionally saw these guys in action. The Loach (Snoopy to us) pilots would get right in the tree tops to attempt to draw fire. Talk about guts. Then the Cobras would roll in. Same strategy by the USAF -- an O-2 and F-4s instead. Shout out to Blue Max -- thanks for everything.

The South could've won if, it further fortify the country, Fight corruption in the Military through Careful and strong planning, Send troops to protect the DMZ, invade and Occupy Laos and Cambodia, conducts Vietnamization and the Tiller reform early, and expand Phoenix Program, Vietnamization, and CAP into Laos and Cambodia. The US Joins the War later, would've prevented ho chi Minh to exploit the situation and Call RVN a Puppet, Invade Dong Hoi and Quang Binh through the DMZ, Laos and Cambodia. The South Wins, the Paris Peace accords demands the DRVN to sieze any military action, campaign and rebuilding it. The 3 anti communist countries win, the World becomes slightly more prosperous, Safer and less divided. The Russo Ukrainian war ends sooner in Ukraine's victory more.

The hmmwv can't really replace this is smaller and can go places the hmmwv can not.... there's a reason with self driving flat bed platforms are making a comeback the technology has gotten to a point these vehicles are useful again... 1 per squad can carry extra equipment for rapid resupply insted of sending a helicopter or convoy too resupply them.

I was 14 when A Bridge too far hit the cinema .Although as you say not perfect in any sense , it did bring awareness to our age group the story of Arnhem. Many I recall recalling seeing the air armada pass over on the Sunday my own father telling me of the incredible sight of it . Then learning that people I actually knew who were connected to the battle in some way . Until then as boys they were just ordinary blokes who we passed by on occasion. It awakened a lot of memories. Just my thoughts anyway .

The other important thing to remember about the Home Guard is that they basically took on the domestic military jobs that the army usually performed (most commonly protecting important buildings and resources from sabotage); freeing up the army soldiers to be deployed elsewhere, in places like North Africa and Burma. And they did a really good job of it too.

The "Q" in Maltese is a glottal stop and isn't actually pronounced. So Luqa is pronounced "Lu-a" and Ta Qali is pronounced "Ta-ali". Maltese is a semitic language with roots in medieval Siculo-Arabic as well as being heavily influenced by Sicilian Italian.

Thanks guys. Very interesting. The Lathbury scene in the church is apparently pretty much verbatim. Another feature of the film in my opinion is just watching the ‘extras’. You can tell they’re professional soldiers just in the speed they move, proficiency with weapons etc. it makes a huge difference/ if you look past the foreground actors in a film like the last version of four feathers compared to the Korda version (which used real troops) it’s a huge difference…. This is a great film and probably the best insight into first airborne. Your points about ptsd etc filming in the location your friends fought and died in must have been surreal.

Just wanted to clarify, when you talk about the body armor that the ARVN airborne troops are seen wearing near the beginning of the video, you called the 2 vests there the m69. The correct vests seen in those clips are: the m52a, a Korean era flak vest without a collar and epaulettes, and the 3/4 collar flak vest, a better version of the m52a with a collar added to protect the neck area. The m69 (what you mentioned), was a post war variant of the 3/4 flak best but the closure in the front was made of Velcro because they got rid of the buttons and zipper.
