Here's a quick demo of an amazing 1942 Martin 00-18!
Wow. That’s impressive.
That’s a fantastic tone. Curious about your signal chain, but I’m not sure what impresses me most: the recording, the mandolin, or your playing. All are exceptional.
Beautiful!
crispy golden
Gorgeous! Wonderful to hear your Beautful finger style
Why are you selling?
Selling for a friend!
Awesome playing on a great sounding guitar!
are there such thing as a j50 with a wider 1 3/4 nut?
The standard spec for vintage J-50s was a 1 11/16" nut, at least during the '50s and '60s (although many in the '60s have narrower nut widths). These days, with modern Gibsons, I'm sure there are many variations and custom options out there!
What a lucky guy to have acquired such awesome guitar playing skills !
Remarkable tone. Bravo.
Hi Forrest You didn't include the CL link It sounds great Merry Christmas
Thank you for the reminder and Merry Christmas to you as well!
Man thats a great sounding guitar I'm not a gibson guy but I listened to this in my truck and it's great
Yeah Gibson is really capturing some of the "old" vibe with these!
Beautiful!
Sounds gorgeous !
Amazing. I left a comment on one of your 00-17 videos as well. If you would be able to give some fingerstyle demos as well, I’d really appreciate it! I was also wondering if you have any way for potential buyers to try the guitar? Maybe purchase/return with some reasonable non refundable amount? Or try in person before buy?
Thanks so much! I do always offer a trial period, and if you're in Nashville you're welcome to come over to check out whatever I have in stock. I would probably do more fingerstyle demos if I were any good at it!
I have been really enjoying your playing of the two 00-17s and the 00-18. These models are my favorite vintage martins and you play them great. I was wondering if it would also be possible for you to play them fingerstyle? It’s tough for me to pay a lot for an instrument without playing it, and I play a lot of fingerstyle. Thanks!
Thank you! I just responded to your other comment -- feel free to reach out to me directly as well (you can follow the listing link in the description, and that will provide a way to contact me).
Wonderful guitar. 😊
Wonderful guitar. 😊
How much is the guitar
Asking 4400!
great tune at the start!!!
Merrily kissed the Quaker, well done Forrest! One of my all time favorite tunes.
They do not make em like that anymore.
👏🏻
What a lucky guy to have such an axe
Listen to that thing sing
Very impressive pick control! And yes, the guitar sounds amazing!
*Bro if you won't mind, may I know what are the mic/s did you use to record & the preamp aswell?*
Sure! I have a pair of Schoeps mics as well as a Stager ribbon mic...I'm running them all through a Universal Audio preamp/interface!
@@forrestsguitars *Thanks a lot. I appreciate it!* 🤜🏽🤛🏽
price?
Wow! That's a good sounding '56 D-28.
Is there a bad sounding '56 martin?)
@@privetetiket would you believe me if I said the ones I’ve played were disappointing? This one sounded great.
Are you using any reverb when recording these videos or is it just the overtones of the guitar?
I think it’s the guitar
I actually do use just a bit of reverb, although I can always send a copy of the video without Reverb. There's not too much of a difference.
Very good question
Nice! I have s 43 00-18. It was $19 at a thrift store in 1985 and only needed $100 to get it in excellent playing condition! It has a huge sound but that is more for the listener. I love to listen facing it. Even a rank beginner can produce beautiful sound
Guitar sounds amazing. You're amazing. Dang, watching you play make me want to throw my guitars on a bonfire. I will never be that good. Liked and subscribed just so I can watch you play.
Some guitars have that magic in them and play themselves. Yeah I guess you’re doing some of the work. Bravo.
fantastic!
This is just amazing, the way you play. May i ask what is your personal favourite guitar? The 00-18 sounds great :)
Thanks so much! Man that is a tough question...I really enjoy a lot of the guitars that come through here. This 00-18 was certainly a standout. I've also been really impressed by a few of the all-mahogany Martins as well as a couple old Gibson L-00s. I think my playing style fits an old D-18 or D-28 the best though!
You can have many favourites :) The all mahogany are very nice as well! Thanks again!
Sounds so good
Came for the guitar, stayed for the pickin'
SH** - that sound pierced a hole in my heart ... dayum! 8-0
What an awesome sound 😊
U need to go to kansas for the next flatpicking comp
