Willcocks ‘Toccata on Hark the Herald’
Thanks for listening! No, it’s published by OUP (Oxford University Press).
Never heard that arrangement before, it's great. Is it one of your own?
Beautifully sung and played, one of my favourites of Bach.
Thanks for listening! Yes, it’s a beautiful piece isn’t it?
Thanks for listening! Yes, it was a particularly full church for our family communion service (it was Christingle this morning) - several guide dogs in tow as well…!
Lots going on there! Dogs? OK, why not?
Love it
Thanks for listening! This is such a super Methodist hymn.
Thanks for listening! It’s a great piece of polyphony for the season of Epiphany!
Thanks for listening! It’s a lovely jolly piece!
Organ player amazing x
Amazing x
👏
Thanks for listening! Works well on this organ with a solo reed…!
The Word of the Lord Endureth for Ever! Fabulous!
Great piece - full of joy!
Beautiful and brilliantly played.
Thank you so much for listening. Music is very valued at St. Peter's, and it's nice to give it a wider audience too!
Lovely performance.
Many thanks for listening. It was very special to have James Gilchrist (and Matt the bass) singing the solos with us. It was the icing on the cake!
Nice to hear that you also sing this German hymn, melody by Johann Crüger 1649.
Many thanks for listening. Yes, it’s a beautiful melody!
What great and most encouraging words from the Holy Scripture, sung so beautifully to the glory of God.
Thanks for listening! This is a particularly lovely setting of the Nunc Dimittis.
Wow!!
Thanks for listening! It’s a wonderful carol which sounded great in a full church!
I like the English Christmas music so much with it's joy and power. Very beautiful!
Many thanks for listening! This is a fabulous carol, arranged so wonderfully by the great David Willcocks!
Very nice! Choir organ and brass!
Many thanks for listening! Yes, it really helps to add that Christmas 'feel' to have the choir accompanied by brass as well as organ!
@stpeterschoirleckhampton Definitely. Two weeks before we had a little Advent concert in a small village church. At the end we sung "Tochter Zion" by Handel, accompanied by the brass band in the chancel, I played the organ opposite on the gallery and congregation singing.
@@intermezzo-musikalischestr2987 sounds like a lovely occasion!
Oh, how beautiful! I sung this in the choir myself. Very nice music.
Many thanks for listening! This is a beautiful piece to sing.
Are the people always so busy during the postlude? Isn`t it difficult for the organist who plays well, to be concentrated?
Good question! Yes, unfortunately, it is simply where the organ console is situated (right next to the choir stalls where they come back to put music, etc, once they got out of their robes...) that means there are people 'buzzing around' behind the organist. It's good for the concentration!
Super to listen to :) - Nice also that members of the choir return to applaud in the closing bars.
Thanks for listening! Yes, it’s one of those churches where people generally stay to listen and generously applaud at the end. It’s certainly a church that appreciates its music…!
My favorite version of this remarkable work by "Papa" Gabriel Faure' is the one here on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/SfzccI9675k/видео.html Ms. Barbara Hendricks lends her considerable talents to the work that makes it such an endearing and emotional evoking piece.
Thank you for listening!
Fauré's Requiem is a wonderful composition. Years ago I sung it myself in a choir. Now I'm learning Pie Jesu on the organ for Eternity Sunday. Thanks for recording.
Thanks for listening! We did this as part of a service for Remembrance Sunday with readings in between the different movements of the Faure. It was a beautiful occasion appreciated by everyone that came. Best of luck with the Pie Jesu...!
@@stpeterschoirleckhampton Thank you.
Beautiful - what a lovely soprano line! XX
Thank you for listening. I'll be sure to let them know!
Lovely! ❤
Thanks for listening!

Many thanks for listening! It is a fairly standard descant for this tune found in most hymn books. We use 'Common Praise' and the descant is by Alan Gray.
Fabulous!
Thanks for listening!
Love this chant - I remember it from my days as a chorister.
One of the best...!
FAB!
Superb singing! Loving the melody!🎵
