my personal favourite atmosphere is the half life 2 beta's, just so surreal and creepy with a giant citadel looming over you as you breath through a gas mask, no water to keep plants alive and thus no clear air to breath making the skies dark and ominous. you are put into stasis for god knows how long just to wake up to a world you once knew being enslaved by an alien race exploiting us for our resources and intelligence. being completely honest, if you make a part 2, I hope you put it in, it's just an atmosphere not replicated by any other game I can think of.

Man, I don't know why, but Dead Voxel always manages to tear me apart and consider my life choices. It's such a thoughtful track that feels like being lost, but somehow at ease too. You can also try and listen to it, while it rains outside. I guarantee you that you will feel something.

Pokémon Black/White threw its whole self into giving me an existential crisis about playing Pokémon games, and I will always love it for that.

bw and bw2 have always been my favorite generation the soundtrack, the pokemon, the animated sprites, especially the story damn, it was all just so peak there's just something about how the story was told on so many different levels, and how the thematics of black and white were strung through the whole setting someone was doing a very good job not to mention the year it was released we went on a trip to england with our school a friend and I decided to buy the games in english together, it was also my friends very first pokemon game idk, I love it waaay too much I also only just realized the relic crown looks an awful lot like the one N gets put on by Ghetsis in the opening filmthing maybe he is the maniac haha

Rainworld has an atmosphere I'll never forget

I actually kind of despise Elden Ring's constant droning background soundtrack. What made those souls games so special to me was its restraint and it's decision to make it where you had to drink in the diegetic soundscape of the places you moved through. I actually have a mod that turns off all the music except for boss battles and special places like the roundtable or the volcano manor's interior. The game just feels much better that way.

This is bringing me back... I used to play SoT with my friends a few years back, and it was great. This one time we were sailing, and this random guy shot himself out of a cannon and gave us Kraken meat before leaving.

that's cool and well made and all but, I gotta ask, what about minecraft caves? Do they not count? Or did you not want to include them? Because I can't remember how much being in a cave even without ambient sounds was stressful to me and always made me tense and on guard, I can't tell you how bad sounds make that.

i played halo for the first time when i was 11 I only had the campaign to play sense I didn't know anyone else with a computer that i could play with, when I got to the part of the game with the flood i was so terrified, I never pick it back up and by the time I did want to pick it back up a few years later and finish what I started I lost my copy and could never finish my original save

Magicians Nephew and House of Leaves came to mind watching this as literary representations of this!

In live service games that have ever expanding maps with each update, I love trying to see what an area looks like before it was added it. See what kind of placeholder assets they used to fill the space, see what barriers are in place. And then compare it to what it’s like once the new area is released. It’s so cool to me to see the map’s progression like that. This video reminded me of that.
