Massive Texas Prawn Catch and Cook!
Big Claw River Shrimp better known as Giant River Prawn taste like lobster. Man made obstacles prevent them from reaching the headwaters of the San Marcos River. Only after massive flooding as in 2015, are they able to ascend all the way back up river from the coast. This video was made in 2016. Remove all the dams and these things would be more common all the way up the river again.

My dad caught one in the San Antonio River in 1994, I think. It was the first one recorded in the San Antonio River in 75 years. I remember when he pulled it over the bridge we were all like. wtf? My dad took it to the San Antonio River Society, where they studied it and put it on display. Then we started seeing their sheddings all over the place around the golf course.
Great story! Thanks for sharing. There is not much research on these creatures.

@@mervuesham1you probably want a dive marker due to all the boating traffic. No other special rules that I am aware of. You will encounter zebra mussels.

Yes there at least one bunk person. Some are located in better locations, but they are all the same with a mattress and railings so you don’t roll out.

A buddy and I paddled the TWS that year - the 'year of the rising flood'. Even by safari standards it was a bit unusual. Caught a few seconds of video here and there of us. Finished right around 72 hours, but we honestly didn't have to work that hard since the flow was so high. Ottine dam and Cuero dam are both gone now and I can't say that I will miss either of those portages.
Ottine was a spooky portage. Great job! You probably finished in time for the banquet.

Try pressure cooking like we do for carp. It will soften the bones. I smoked a shad once and the meat was some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s got to be the boniest thing alive.

Curious because I always heard it was some rule that you can’t fish overnight but getting there early morning was not a problem not sure if they enforce it but I saw it in the sign at the steps like 5 years ago the sign has been graffiti now and just an empty post maybe it still has pictures of fish and size regulations I bet they r outdated though, a lot of Spanish speaking people camping there overnight and probably breaking the law
There is a campsite nearby that is free to stay at. People camp and fish at all hours. It might be a different story from the bank.
How do you information on public elk hunting?
The one public area in Texas that I have seen elk listed is called Sierra Diablo and it is a draw hunt.

I have beef with TX right now not allowing me to renew my ID even though I got the no Reg at COVID....now no home address to get it sent to. No job. Etc... I did write to Gov. Abbott. At least I've started a paper trail. Good Luck ❣️

Yes Bullsnake, non-venemous, but they will simulate striking, they kill rats, groundhogs, gophers via constriction.
