Straight off the bat from watching this, it’s giving me vibes from “The Dream” from chinese mapping (I think)

Ok guys, I have a theory. In the begging of the series the USA seemed normal but overtime he goes insane and becomes evil. What if the thermonuclear bombs were turning him insane from radiation or just making him power hungry, as he started to become more evil as he started to make and test more nukes.
