Hosay is a commemoration kept primarily by Indo-Caribbean communities throughout the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana, Belize etc).
It is to do with religion but also somewhat transcends religion as both Hindu and Muslim believers have played a role in the development of the Hosay commemoration.
Interestingly, the name and practices of this commemoration vary from country to country.
The main aim of this commeration is to remember the lives of Hassan and Hussein.
