Here at the Kirwan Institute we do this through research, engagement, and communication.
Our mission is simple: we work to create a just and inclusive society where all people and communities have opportunity to succeed.

Panel Discussion: "What Does It Mean to Do Intersectional Work?"
Просмотров 4897 лет назад
The term "intersectionality" has become a buzzword in not only social justice movements, but society as a whole. But what does intersectionality actually mean? And what does it mean to do intersectional work in a practical sense to take intersectionality beyond theory and put it into praxis? This panel discussion of scholar-practitioners from various fields of study at The Ohio State University...

that other nigga was right the beat switch was insane
❤❤❤❤thank God for Unity
Mr. King should have also been awarded the Nobel Prize of Literature based on the extraordinary message delivered by this letter to the entire human race. This is a Literary Master Piece.
The beat switch was crazy
How do you get 110 out of 100 ? That statement devalues the statement being made here.
This was so profound and beautiful. My generations will carry this in their hearts forever. My mother was pregnant with me at the time. I understand my parents view of parenting much better. Much love ♥
love this video! The Birmingham Letter truly shows the outstanding character and leadership ability of this great public servant. If only half of our political and church leaders had half the conviction that Dr MLK Jr had, what a better nation this would be! Thank you Kirwan Institute and Ohio State University for this splendid production! God Bless our country in Jesus name!
white is not a race!
This is assuming the specific cause before the outcome and ignoring any other possible contributing factors (like most minority children DO have records of acting out because they come from broken homes without a supportive father). This is like if I automatically assumed that every single health problem is caused by obesity and obesity alone. This is garbage science.
Thank you making this video.
Implicit Bias is one of the terms Marxist Race Hustlers use to disenfranchise white people in school, employment and government. It has no precise definition or parameters. It is an inescapable set of attitudes that supposedly everybody has but the most malicious kind is reserved for white people which is why they can be oppressed. F. you.
Is any research truly accurate?? We'll say, "studies have shown that many people are still racist," but how much information are you ignoring simply because your racism is that other skin colors are being racist. Why don't we ask what the implicit bias were of the researchers doing the research before assuming it was accurate or inaccurate? Assuming that's what they think because of skin color. I'm not saying racism isn't a problem, but the problem is we accuse so many people as racist, but we're ignoring other factors. It gets pretty annoying overtime, I think. I feel like calling others racist is just an umbrella for other problems in society that we don't want to focus on so we hide away from the rain and start pointing fingers out to others who aren't you because nobody wants to take initiative and do anything. You don't actually know what they think, you're just assuming what they think based on your own bias. The kid couldn't do as good because he lives in poverty, that's a government issue, not a child's cognitive development or skin color. Our bias about their supposedly limited cognition isn't going to do much and only sets them up for failure. In the end, we'll just blame it on something else and scapegoat other people or things like the average human does. It's all fine though, we've been doing it for centuries...🤦
Now how much research is made based on our implicit bias is the question... How much limited research is this
If you have gone to public high school just about anywhere you already understand why these stats are the way they are 😂
This is still so relevant right now in the 21st century! We, black & brown people, need to be reminded of those 4 steps dr king speaks abt in the ltr frm the birmingham jail. We need DIRECT ACTION!!!
Why is this age restricted?
holy shit i dont care
This is powerful! What a blessing to listen to!
Watched this today in honor of Dr. King. Thank you for your excellent work in putting this together.
Why is this video labeled as inappropriate for some viewers????? 🤬
Is a 10th grade thing You 6th grader
Yea... no shit. Troubled kids are disciplined more.
Great video for teaching and discussion! I am a visual learner.
some of the research is easily refuted though
I wish this was not age restricted. I'm teaching high school students who are dual-enrolled in college online, and some of them can't access this. In a regular semester, I would just show it myself in the classroom, but I don't have that option with Covid going on. Yes, there are horrifying images in this, but they were carefully chosen, and this needs to be accessible to students. Thank you so much for this beautiful, moving production that brings the letter to life in an unparalleled way.
I love his letter. To me MLK Jr should have won the Nobel Peace prize and a Pulitzer prize for this. It's more impacting and powerful than his " I have a dream speech" , which too, is a masterpiece
What magnificent thoughts in a magnificent letter! It's the manifesto and a program that we need right now, but it is much more than that! What a great man penned this in jail!
All high schools in America should make this letter mandatory reading, and discussion! This letter is absolutely incredible. Full of grace, power and truth! Wow 😳
I came here because I really need this with all that is happening in our country. 🇺🇸 57 years later... we're still praying for brotherhood.
Hi. We made a video about unconscious/implicit bias ruclips.net/video/RhqMEiTVICU/видео.html and thought you and your viewers might find it interesting.
46 members of the new kkk far right states of america, a.k.a. Trump supporters shitheads don't like this.. xD
Learned about this in my human development class. One reason why parents must do their due diligence with our children. Let them know that they are brilliant and their feelings matter!
Er... maybe the children are dumb?
Why is this age restricted.
5:30 is when he starts reading the actual letter if anyone needs to know
Thanks. Lotta ego driven Drama before that. Thanks .
Why is this age restricted?? Children need to hear this as they develop their adulthood wisdom.
It's because of the reading of the slurs and violent imagery, which are real images of lynching etc, there's another video where it's King himself reading that isn't age restricted.
@aluco769 the N word in Spanish just means black, it just sounds similar to the n word the Americans use so people think its a slur. But yes I saw and heard the hard R twice while listening to and reading this letter.
I agree, it shouldn't be restricted. MLK merely spoke of the happenings out in the streets, in view of all including the young.
Anyone here from Mr. Mellor ?
Who's watching all this @mr.mellor
Why is this age restricted? Violence?
Thank you
🥰
William Tyndale was considered an extremist too.

Why is this video not narrated for people with low or no vision?
Goddamn the bald guy reading this got a thicc forehead. It do be kinda distracting ngl.
This helped me for school, so thank you it was amazing
Sending this to my Honors Political Theory professor. We were assigned the reading, this is so moving! Incredibly well done. Bless you!
I follow you guys when I read this for my first time. Thank you guys/ladies for your hard work ;)
Where are these studies? Who did these studies?
Implicit bias training was create by racist unionized cops to help they're racist counterparts keep their jobs.
Implicit bias training was designed and created for racist white men whom are cops. However I didn't see one white guy in the entire video. Just a white woman and a black man both of which are still fighting for human rights and to be treated equally still today in 2019.
Lots was changed and added in the recording of this letter. I read the real one along with this one. Get it right!!
