Penmaenmawr's giant clock has become a landmark both for locals and for passing motorists. Millions of motorists see the clock each year and wonder why it’s there. The Mysteries of Beech Caves feat Brendan Explores - E41 S02
Просмотров 2643 месяца назад
Beech caves were formed due to pillar and stall workings when the red Keuper Sandstone which was formed in the Triassic period was removed for building purposes. It would appear that stone was removed from this site as far back as 1633 as documents which have been found show that a Roger Low was paid 22 pence a score to remove 130ft of stone from this site on the 31st of August of that year. Ot...

Manchester Ship Canal`s Bridges and Locks E31 S02
So not constructed by Len Fairclough of Coronation Street fame then? 😀
Interesting that the span of the second crossing is narrower than the original one. I guess it was a case of it only needs to be so wide, so we'll just build it that wide, probably saves a bit of money too?
Tge tubular railway briwas built by Robert Stevenson who also build a bigger version ovethe Menai Strait to carry the railway onto Anglesey, it caught fire in th70s and the tubes were destroyed
Amazing job mate I love the design! How much would you say just the conversion cost you? Once again great job
Excellent vid Steve!!
Thank You for taking the time & effort to produce this vid Steve--plus the Series "Monumental"-I will give you a 8.5/10. Do you know.. I do feel if you include more of your freinds who partiicipate in Wild Camping - it would enhance just what you are showing us,,,,,as it will widen the conversation, which I feel would be a winner.... just a thought mate 🙂
Video HAD to include Brendan munchin awayyyy!!!! Look forward to the next vid,,,,,👌
How Brendan made sure he elaborated the word"cock"was sooo predictable- but moreso i laughed😅
Steve- I know its not Peak District..but how bout a trip to Sherwood Forest- to tell us the story of Robin Hood. Also, you could touch that amazing Major Oak tree--& all its history! I say thats a Monumental episode waiting for you to add your Spilkberg style direction... just use Brendan to find the tea & cakes....😅
bloomin brill guys!--Oscar worthy!!!🤣
Hi Steve. It was great to meet you on Llandudno Pier yesterday. I told you I'd subscribe. 😂 We've just watched 3 of your videos and learned so much about North Wales I didn't know.
Nice video mate 👍🏻
Welcome bk Steve..another great video...enjoyed it!!!.😂
Would a 550w power drill run on this for about 30 minutes? Also did you test the watt+ feature? If so what did you think of it?
Good work Steve
Surprised you have not referred to any of the academic literature about it.
My last input---you MUST visit when they have their "Matlock Bath Illuminations" on- at weekends-throughout Sept & Oct....advance booking is advisable!! www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/leisure/matlock-bath-illuminations
Love how you called it a "seaside town"...........oh I wish it did have the sea Sreve---it would have prevented me having to drive endless times to Skegness with my 3 kids!!!
Oh..btw..the Romans discovered 3 medicinal springs in the late 17th C-- then constructed a bath made of wood..lined with lead. My knowledge is I used to be a local--lived just up the road & visited several times..
Loved it Steve--WD for giving us great footage of such a beautiful part of the U.K
Looking at those low foundations it's hard to envisage that these were once multistorey buildings on the edge of a small Roman town I visited this place myself a couple of weeks back beneath mostly blue sky too although your cloud's appeared far more natural looking than what I witnessed
Well done Steve, another interesting and well filmed video. Appreciate the effort you so clearly put in! 😊
Love your background music!
We've watched lots of Brendans vlogs, but we much prefer watching you Steve! Brendan is a bit of a wet blanket mate, haha. Your presenting style is much more appealing and you go the extra mile instead of rushing off to put your jimjams on! LoL Good one mate.
Thank you for your kind words, a lot of planning goes into the videos and I like to give you something extra, I like you to at least I've learnt something once you've watched my video, if you're going to invest the time in watching me I'm going to invest the time providing good content for you. There are another two episodes in this peak District series it's crazy to think this was filmed back in February, that's how far I plan ahead with my videos.
Totally agree. How can you have have “adventure” in your title when you go back to your van and bugger off rather than get wet feet. Then just spend the rest of the time not knowing where you are and just cook food in your van?! 🤷🏻♀️
Really enjoyed this- thanks Steve & Brendan 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video mate
Thanks buddy - two more to come in this series!!
Brill!!!!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Brill video again Steve!!!!
Really informative narration-- AA++

A video of monumental imagination, beauty & quaintness! great work Steve..keep these vids coming!!!
Excellent video Steve!! Plz keep em coming 🙂
....& Brendan......well...lets just say......his vids are as brilliant as yours both..you make an excellent trilogy!!!
p.s. Ive asked Mattie-- to plz upload a new vid-- I miss his vids!!! Can you plz nudge him into submission,,lol
Brilliant video Steve! Plz keep em coming ;-)
Not sure how easily it is to access these days, but there's a workers walkway underneath the bridge that goes the entire length of viaduct. We used to dick around on there when we were kids and I'd invariably shit my kecks.
to be fair-- all retailers prohibit filming.. due to ptice sensitivities...look at aldi..lidl leaflets..some items have no price on them,,,bcus they wait until their compeptitor prices theirs,& then they will reduce their price to b the cheaper....its called Live Price Scanning... \This is why they prohibit filming,,,they are scared stiff of competition knowing each live price change!!!
Leave a comment........Steve.... plz do more videos...solo.....Brendan is Ace....-but you are both not into the exact same interests.....so you go & do your thing.....it will I`m sure be excellent!
Richard, Most of my video`s are Solo, Different you tubers bring different things to the table, I get your intense love for Brendan.. It`s nice, Maybe i can get a autograph for you :) No promises!
excellent guys!!!!
excellent Steve--def liked & subscribed
Ahh wish I had known you was in my area, I would of loved to come and said hello to the both of you :) All the best from Deb and Dave.
Watching from the U.S and enjoying your adventure! I had to look up the Peak District on Google Maps to figure out where you are!
The sad thing is that the 1792 Aqueduct, has been damaged. When cable TV came along the contractors thought it was just a bridge. When they laid their cables they damaged the clay membrane that kept the water in the canal. This now means the whole bridge is being damaged by the ingress of water causing the stonework to crumble.
Great vid Steve. Hope you’re doing ok. 😊
I am! How are you? Enjoying the videos I hope 😃
"Old Key Canal " ( key cut ) bridges known locally as "The 12 Arches" 👍👍
Thank you for that information that was really useful and thank you for watching the video.
Just to correct one or two inaccuracies. Riding through Ouzel Valley Park you are riding along the Ouzel, not the Ouse (which flows along the city's northern boundary.) Also you rode through Woughton on the Green...that is "Woofton", not Roar-ton"
There is always on like you! Always, I am not from the area so I really wouldn't know how to pronounce the names, Come to my home town to Telford and see how you get on. Thank you anyway.
6:29 your "railway bridge" is the top of the sluice gate mechanism. Zero to do with railways or bridges. There was never a plaque to say "what was What". You are stood in front of the double sluice gates which are raised or lowered to regulate the flow of the Ship Canal. When it floods, go back to that spot and look down towards the viaduct. The water will be boiling out of the sluice gates to stop the higher level from flooding. They used to let foot passengers stay on the bridge while it swung. We used to tie a rope swing from the highest beam at 12:29......near the very top. Nobody cared. They were the days!
You say that's why I make these videos so guys like you can put me right on things I wonder about thank you for your comment really useful and thank you for watching the video
@@stevesmonumentaladventure No problem. Sorry if I came across like I didn't enjoy your work..... . Great video about my favourite places in the world! I want my ashes scattered from the long pier towards the sea...best wishes and take care. Bonus fact: the whole canal mechanical systems like lock gates, swing bridges etc worked on a water pressure system, fed by accumulator towers using water from the canal to power everything...the towers in Warrington are all gone now. I think the one at Barton is still there?
I’ll have to check this out
I appreciate you taking the time to check it out, it means a lot!
