A quick podcast (a quickcast?) where I reminisce about an old haunt in Brisbane that saw it's demise way too soon.

In our latest Flexidisc we try to dismantle the classic Boomtown Rats song and try to work out what makes it tick. And the reason? Well, there are no reasons. Known Pleasures Ep 46 - Bruce Foxton Interview
I don't think that Weller did see the Jam as a three piece, especially as time went by. More Foxton and Buckler as hired hands - meat and potatoes men, totally unsuited to his arty, European jazz direction.
Australia was the first place New Order played Blue Monday live
Australian Crawl, Thongs and TShirts Tour in early '82. The memories. Thanks for this love letter to a great venue.
“Cloudland”… Pere Ubu?
Very informative for a non Queenslander. Gee you had Balls for some of those jokes 😁😁
🤣😬
Even a few songs from Abbey Road were recorded at Trident.
Yes, I've been watching other videos about this studio. I also didn't mention the fact that The Beatles went to Trident because they were 8 track and Abbey Road was only 4.
Dislike the song, liked the discussion.
Yes, a divisive song and a divisive band. But it was a fun discussion.
Great interview. Hugh is an open book.
Man! I'm so glad this came up on my feed! The Reels were such an important part of my life back in the 80s. Lovely to see you again after so long Craig!
@@MarkRobinsonMBopo thanks Mark. Glad you enjoyed the interview. He had some interesting stories and was a pleasure to talk to.
I just stumbled upon your channel and omg your knowledge and content is beyond impressive!! Please keep this going!! This just makes me smile😊❤
Thank you, glad to have you on board.
Excellent interview
I love the guy. I hope I get to see him doing a gig someday. 😎 Moments of Madness is a great album too.
Can’t wait to see him on 1 August here in Sydney. The man is an intelligent maestro, so worthy of greater recognition.
What's the instrumental from 0:00 to 0:28?
Patrick was in a band in Melbourne in the 80's called Untitled Red. It's an instrumental of theirs called Ephemeral.

@@KnownPleasuresPodcast Thanks, it's fantastic!!
Great interview. Top Geezer.
Post Punk ? it was called New Wave, punk, ska ,mod, not post punk
Post Punk is a recent term. At the time, New Wave was an umbrella term covering everything that came in the wake of punk. But Post Punk is the more accepted term today.
@@KnownPleasuresPodcast What was wrong with New Wave wide sweeping term .
This is Good. Solid, fun , interesting.
You guys are amazing. I love and enjoy everything you do....but one question, where's The Fall??!
Looking forward to this...but have I missed something..The Fall...???
Can’t wait
I would rather watch Hugh's band nowadays.. than the present day Stranglers. When i go to watch a Hugh gig, i take it for what it is, something new that "He" has created. When i go and watch a todays Stranglers gig, i get an uneasy feeling that it aint really The Stranglers anymore. Hugh's band have as many original Stranglers members in it, as the band that today call themselves The Stranglers.
Stranglers never disappoint.
Wow! thank you
NO.
Good interview… I’m hoping to see him live solo tour in the states sometime.
Leaving the Stranglers shuttled Hugh into realtive obscurity playing increasingly smaller venues.
I don't think for a minute Hugh thought he would be filling huge venues on his own he is a very intelligent bloke.Big is not always better.
Peter Hook speaks so well - it's a pleasure to listen to him
Mullets are a bad bedfellow with non-Cyrus types since he killed the haircut with one record...
Been listening to the podcast . Echo and the bunny men. Reference to Peter de Freitas. You diss the guy and say don't worry he's dead .
I think he was being ironic. We were big fans of Echo & The Bunnymen and wouldn't make light of his passing. Having said this, I think I'd like to remove that part of the episode. I was never happy with it.
I love your podcast and look forward to every new episode. It’s one of my favorite eras of music and you all are so amazing at telling the tale of post-punk. 🙏🏻
Hey Michael, thank for listening.
Thanks fellas on your podcast, really enjoyed hearing all your views and learnt a few more facts i never knew, being a masive New Order fan theres not much im not aware of....lol Just a quick retort to your discussion on "Love vigilantes", its maybe not so throw away as i heard that it was written that the returning soldier was a ghost? Plus the bouncy bassline is fantastic and the ending guitar thrash was ripped by the Lightening Seeds for the song Pure, so gets another big thumbs up from me....are you doing a part 2 or even 3? ps, i loved the Deborah Lyall Razormaid mix of Subculture and the Record Mirror stripped down version is also fabulous.
A lot of people have been a little disappointed that we stopped at 1985. Maybe we should do a part 2. That's interesting about The Lightning Seeds, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for listening.
Fantastic! Well done again guys, you certainly know your onions!
Thanks for listening. We had a lot of fun doing this one. (Next - Joy Division ????)
@@KnownPleasuresPodcast cannot wait!
Hooky continually flogs the long dead horse! I saw Joy Division twice & both times Hooky stood mostly with his back to the audience, now he smiles etc because he loves the cash! Absolute twat.🤡
Wow! I cart wait!
To quote Stephen Morris on ABC RN, “the song the taught a generation of white males to dance”.
Nosferatu is bloody fantastic! IMHO, White Room is one of the top covers of all time! killer! Thank you for a great interview! Cheers!
Guy on our left 1st one looks like Peter hook coincidentally
Haha, I think the same thing
Great man.
Wonderful man
A reunion isn't going to happen but I'd love for Paul, Bruce and Rick to do a sit down interview about The Jam rather than just these piecemeal interviews.
Setting Sons my fav album
He sounds a bit like Michael Caine😁
High quoting an idiot from school saying a line as old as time like he was a philosopher ffs that’s me done with him how magnolia
A bit harsh. He was just mentioning something that he remembered and obviously stuck with him. Never thought of him as trying to impress. He always seems pretty genuine to me.
Sounds like you might be High 😅
How magnolia? You won't be missed.
@@simonjamesyoung1990Or Hugh.
Amazing interview. Hugh fabulous as always. Thankyooou. 🎶🎵🤩
Hugh is always a fascinating character and great to listen to, thanks fellas loved this.
For God's Sake get back with Paul, before its too late. Thick as Theives .
I don't think it's going to happen. But we can dream.
@@KnownPleasuresPodcastThis already happened though. They reconnected on a personal level a few years ago and this led to Foxton playing bass for Weller on two tracks from his 2010 album "Wake Up The Nation".
Thank you so much for your great interview with Super Hook. The 3 of you are fantastic and the quality of your interviews is outstanding. Turning an interview into an amicable chat is not that easy. Besides.......now I know that I am no longer alone.....Peter Hook and I will never win a Nobel in Geography 🙂Who cares????? Thanks again and best wishes! Giorgio 🙂
Thank you so much, Giorgio. Kind words indeed.
I didnt enjoy the bbc doc..as muuch as this interview
Thank you. (That quote is going on the poster. haha) I haven't seen the BBC doco but looking forward to it.
Hooky looking like he’s in the Playboy mansion with his open shirt and transplanted hair!
Im still seeking for the Portsmouth Studio Sessions, no-one heard of it ?
Very interesting interview
