You need to optimize your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, you won't get any video views if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year. If your channel is a bit optimized and the videos are SEO then your channel will rank very fast and your channel will grow. I have seen many channels in same category, have high rank and subscribers.
