Nice støry - Jackson.
Its a bit cheeky to take the work of Sam O'Nella and use it here. His channel is hugely popular and many of your viewers will know where you took the video from.
Poor Roger. He outgrew his own pants. 😭😂
Very nice..well spoken, intelligent overview of this book.. Thank you mate!
I'm so sorry...but I cant un-see this so now, Im making everyone else aware. Why does the picture at 6:08 look like David Gilmour is just casually sitting with his junk out 🤣🤣🤣
Horrible case. She thought she was going out with a wealthy decent man. He took her in one of his many expensive cars. To to coast for lunch, then to his apartment. Where she lost her life. Pure evil 😈. He dismembered her. I just watched the Netflix documentary today about Lucie Blackman case. Very interested, but sad, horrible ending.
Just about to watch a documentary on this. Glad I watched this beforehand. Thanks!
Thanks for this! This is a very dark story that says a lot about the 80s and early 90s, when Tokyo was the richest city that ever existed.
1994's Division Bell tour was the greatest concert experience I've ever experienced. Waters' contributions between 1970-1979 were extensive, but the touring band didn't miss him at all.
Here is the truth why the Roger-David/Rick feud started up again and then snowballed! It started in 2013 when David said NO to Roger's Israel boycott when The Rolling Stones were set to play Tel Aviv. Nick joined Roger on it but David said no and Roger claimed he was OK with it but apparently wasn't as Roger went back to attacking David and Rick in 2017. Roger was advertised on the site regularly (I may add) up to the release of Is This the Life We Really Want? and up to the start of the Us and Them Tour in 2017. I think Conservative, Jewish and Christian Fans of the band (I happen to be one) who are Trump supporters walking out of shows because of Roger's hate for Orange Man Bad and so on alarmed FEd (who runs the Pink Floyd sites, NOT DAVID AND NICK). Plus Roger's attacks on David and Rick snowballed the reigniting of the feud when he said "I'm twice the musician David and Rick were".

Hello James
Dude, I just found your channel and you hit up all my interests haha. I recently became interested in Tarrare and Charles Domery, and there isn't lots of people who talk about the later. Subscribed from Spain!
Thanks for the additional info
There is a deep irony and hypocrisy of Waters writing about the dangers of authoritarian totalitarianism throughout his musical career. But, I realize the objective truth of the matter isn’t simple. Pink Floyd songs also emphasize love and forgiveness conquering pain, suffering, and pride. Hopefully we can see mercy and compassion outshine the hurtfulness again before their time is gone.
Roger's ego finally eclipsed his talent when he finally had solo success by bring the The Wall tour in 2010 and for those many years after, including stadium shows, which were a big inspiration that lead to the Wall album... It's funny how that worked out!
You never hear anyone talk about Rodgers bass playing. Gilmore played most of the difficult bass parts on their albums. Rodger was a gifted lyricists but not a very good musician. And in my opinion him going on and on about how tough his life is was wearing pretty thin.
When you take one substance from the Coca Cola- there is no more Coca Cola taste, no matter what you put instead that substance. It's same with Pink Floyd. But the problem is that Roger Waters never manage to write any song that match the song from Pink Floyd era, but David Gilmore manage to keep that songs on the line in a Pink Floyd without Roger Waters. So if you ask me about crucial catch or the most important person in Pink Floyd it's Rick Wright and David Gilmore,.. not Roger Waters.
🤭 *Promo SM*
Gilmour, Mason and wright was Pink Floyd
Very interesting, thanks for posting. BTW, I was at the Palladium on 8th October for the redux. Maybe it shouldn't have been made, maybe it should. It was and I took my brother because it can't happen without us being a part of that experience. Standing ovation. Obviously....
I play in a Pink Floyd tribute band and so their music is very deep for me. But for the actual members, their lives were complicated, and they simply were not machines of output solely for the sake of music. The band was a business proposition. They dealt with issues of hard work, collaboration, contrasting ideas, feelings and interests. And there you have it. There is no "what it would have been if". Everything happened the way it happened. So...practice compassion and not judgment of people and enjoy the music. Pink Floyd is a masterpiece of pain, soul, work, time, art and magic. Respect to all.
Just a horrible and painful video presentation. Not saying it's inaccurate, just a dreadful presentation.
David Gilmour is an amazing musician Roger Waters is The Pink Floyd
Yeah, it’s understandable that Roger isn’t featured on the Pink Floyd website. The reason isn’t hard to explain or understand. See, he’s, uh… he’s not a member of Pink Floyd.
But he WAS .. once!
But David's wife is?
What an absolutely wicked houseboat i am so envious
🤘🤬I'm a rogue planet looking for trouble... 👋🏿☻️Hi I'm a fucking black hole, come closer ☝️🤣
Drugs, (acid in particular and in large doses), took out Sid when his mind likely fried in its own juices. But shear rock-star egomania got to Roger, and later, to David. So much of Floyd's rocky journey is predictable in hind-sight. Fame, money and self-importance has a way of turning clear thinking brains into gelatinous mush.
David Gilmour: “It’s my turn now. I’m going to re-record everything with my awesome guitar solos in place of every vocal. Who really cares about lyrics anyways?” (Okay, not really… but it would be funny)
That’s why I was quite off with Lucie’s dad comments on the documentary. Something was off.
I didn't like Lucie's father from the start. something about his pushy, arrogant attitude when he arrived in Japan, almost enjoying being in spotlight when being interviewed. feeling of self importance and superior British attitude.....not respecting other culture and trying to impose their own values on it. And accepting the money was such a pathetic and tasteless gesture, it speaks volumes about his character. Is he grieving or profiting from his child's tragic fate,,,,.. Besides .this could happen in any country when a young, woman on her own is not careful in a dangerous environment of nightclubs, hostessing, drunk men etc
You guys are crazy. I would do the same for my daughter. Also, apparently, you weren't paying attention. The police did miss clues initially. That's why they had different investigators. That is why the police feel so bad for the family. This could've been prevented years ago. Kudos 👏 to the police 🚔 who did catch him.
@@anthonyjames713You are the crazy one, accepting money from the killer of his own daughter, what a pathetic man, kudos to the mom and Carita's family.
17:28 there it is: They both (Dave/Roger) came to disrespect each other. Dave thought Roger was the lesser musician, something he said in a terse interview in the late 80’s or early 90’s. Roger felt his writing made him the more important member of the band. They should both have to listen to “Us and Them” until they get over themselves.
I am producing a retrospective film on Roger Waters. Could I please ask permission to maybe use a small clip of this video for the film? Kind regards Barry
Yes of course. Sounds good 👍
@inapapercup Thanks. It's much appreciated. If I use anything, I will credit it to you. Kind regards Barry

:43 Dark Side charted for all those _consecutive_ weeks, not "non-consecutive weeks."
For me, the dynamics of Roger and David's relationship are not unlike my parent's relationship while growing up. While one's right, one is also wrong, and when one's wrong, one is also right. So you can't win, and it's pointless to take a side because you love them both for they have given you.
Roger had some bite in his writing, even though I think he's badly mistaken in his socio-political opinions. I admit that I only came to realise that in the last few years. The long overdue return of populism has exposed the left/right paradigm for the scam that it is. Roger sounds like a champion virtue-signaller these days. It was probably the clash of two alphas that made the band crackle with energy. It always sesms to end the same way. Nothing good CAN last forever - when success becomes self-aware it often implodes.
egos
Imagine thinking you could do better music without David Gilmour and Nick Mason. Crazy
There are tensions in all bands, so there are.
Roger is a fantastic song writer, has brilliant concepts, and a wonderful lyricist. Gilmour is a sublime guitarist. This feud is between them. I thought the post-Waters Floyd albums were very average. Gilmour's solo albums have been similarly poor. Personally I don't care about their personal issues, I don't know these guys personally, and I'm only here for the music. As such, Waters has had a great solo career. That his songs haven't been hits is a laughable comment, because Floyd were never a singles band until The Wall.
Unrfortunately Waters' psychological dynamics which go back to childhood and the death of his father makes him a bit unstable. It also seems to skew his poltical perspective. He rails against Trump but the very forces that oppose Trump are the same tyrants that he illustrates in such a talented way in The Wall. I know that Waters is a driving force behind the band and the Floyd would not be what they are without him but personally, I think Gilmour has a better voice. Also, I never saw what all the hype about Syd Barrett was. Floyd did their best work after him. And frankly, Barrett's stuff sounds more like Children's nursery rhimes.
Pink Floyd-Wish You Were Here. The subject matter of losing their band member Sid Barrett, makes this the most poignant piece of music I've ever heard in my 60+ years of listening to all genres of music.

Waters speaks his mind and likes common sense , most woke liberals hate that .
NOT a liberal! But if waters could get his ass off his head he would see how he acts about Floyd !!!
Well put . Annoying bunch so much more to give. Buggers needed a led zeppelin manager to keep them inline
Without Gilmour , Pink Floyd would have died. Anyone can argue that, but you know it is true.
The liner notes is not a minor issue: Dave (and Polly) didn't want the world to know how little he contributed to the album.
Not trying to be argumentative, but Dave claims to have written 90 percent of Dogs, which has to be a 3rd of the album. That seems like a pretty decent contribution, though much of that would date back to 74. I do get what you mean, though. It's annoying that Polly would even factor in at all. She's making Yoko look good!😆
Well then why did Dave not want that known? Dave voted against it. No surprise, then Roger re-worked DSOTM alone. @@MatthewLewis68
Also, he put down some incredible guitar and vocal work, and bass on 2 of the songs. I don't usually play this side of the fence, but think Dave might be getting more of a bum rap than he deserves.
For the longest time I was team Dave, but him NOT ALLOWING Roger to advertise his activities on the official website is just petty. Dave is a fantastic guitar player and has a great voice though. And I can understand Dave not wanting to do Roger's autobiographical music. But I like Roger's political conscientiousness, though I disagree with Roger on Ukraine. The bottom line is, if the liner notes were allowed to be included (like Roger wanted) than everyone's contributions would have been included. @@MatthewLewis68
@@RyanWessell-r8s Good question. I don't recall if I read the liner notes. I can't really see that there would be anything to be embarrassed about. Maybe Polly told him to go against it. That seems like what it's come down to. Dave to me is really coming across as an asshole the past few years.
Try x1.5 speed if you have other things to do with you're day.
I don’t feel too bad for Dave stealing the thunder from Beck. Beck is into that scientology nonsense, and those people ARE either evil, or they’ve been so badly manipulated and controlled by scientology that they have no minds of their own. They just obey every directive, no matter how outrageous it might be. Either way, even scientology’s victims are very much part of the problem as are the likes of Tom Cruise, and John Travolt and his weird beat-off rituals he has with his scientology buds at their jerkoff station
This voice we hear… clearly not a fan, or someone with extensive rock knowledge. Much less Van Halen knowledge and interest. But definitely someone you would expect to hear giving a lecture on statics or thermodynamics
For a self professed socialist, Waters was extremely greedy and selfish.
