I finally did it! I wanted to build this spider for YEARS and finally made it happen! Thank you very much for the guide! The spider looks great and everyone in the neighborhood loves him! I was worried about his weight and being a bit back heavy, but found the perfect solution. I bought a heavy duty tomato cage from my local store and cut off the top two rings. The bottom ring was around 10". I squeezed it into a oval shape and it lined up perfectly underneath his body between the 45° pvc bends . I hammered the 3 prongs into the ground at a angle so the oval is angled forward and placed him on the oval. Then I zip tied him to the lowest point of the oval (connecting to the zip tie from the helmet) and it lines up perfectly! Thank you so much for making this tutorial!

Great work! I'm gathering supplies to try and create something similar. After you attached the spring to the skull, did you attach the other end of the spring to something to keep it from sliding around in the pipe? It appears that it was just dropped in place, but around 8:35 you can see that the head will stay facing a certain direction as you position it. Is it just the foam insulation that is somehow providing enough friction for it to stay put? I assume I am missing something...

I installed a similar set-up 'werewolf mask & old clothing) in my backyard (visited by thieves a couple times)..when I live the house I plugged the stuff in and with a few well placed led lighting & a small recording device with muffled grawling ,I know that if triggered someone might have a heart attack...
