I remember watching the Massanutten Hoo Ha about 10 years ago. Ohio had 2 "Pros" in the Open Pro division of that race. These were riders who easily go sub-2 hrs at Mohican State Park. A couple of the real pros who were contesting that race were Jeremiah Bishop and Adam Craig, and I think Adam was on a single speed. The gun went off and Jeremiah and, especially Adam, seemed as though they were attached to dirt bikes, not mountain bikes. They made nearly everyone look like beginners! Long story short: Jeremiah won with Adam a very, very close second ... within a minute, with times around the 2 hour mark. They looked like they had just finished up a spirited training ride. The Ohio "Pros"??? They both finished but easily 30 minutes behind the winners. Those guys looked completely wrecked ... like they would never get back on a bike again. How humbling that must have been for those two in their fancy team kits to get absolutely smoked by Jeremiah and Adam?!?! (Adam was wearing baggie shorts and jersey and a goof-ball retro Bell skateboard helmet. That one race changed my perspective on racing the OMBC. I was placing top 25% in Sport in my age group, and even podiumed a couple times in 5 yrs. But after spectating that race in Virginia, I realized the time and effort and money was not worth not riding with buddies on Sunday mornings.

the way to the tunnel was at the lake by the bottom of that hill you stopped on top of... however, its an interesting hike to find right now due to no bridge etc...

if you lean into your turns more your transition will be smoother and your legs dont get tired as easy
