@EmeraldHillsSkies - You are appreciated, Doug! 🙏🌠🔭🌌🥰
@@JM_WX You’re amazing!!!!! God bless you!!!
gratz
@@ThatOpalGuy Thanks so much for taking part!!!!
darn, missed it, thanks for this. time to get out the chainsaw ?
Hi
Hello Zeitgeist!
Hello Doug!
Hi Vito! Thanks for stopping by! Your observatory and pier were hard at work tonight to catch the comet!
Darn missed it live. I got some pics through my binoculars and iPhone adapter a few days ago but didn’t break out my telescope for it.
@@aagifford Well - as you can see... I only caught it for 5 minutes in the scope before it sank into the trees. But, like you, caught it in my binoculars just before this outside. Sounds like similar experiences. Thanks for stopping by!
@@EmeraldHillsSkies hopefully the pier helped you get up enough above the wall to catch it!!
@@piertechinc VERY easily above the wall. Even though it was sinking below 9 degrees into the trees. The pier did it's job perfectly.
Thanks
@@russellrankin863 !!!!! thank you so much for your partnership and encouragement! It means the world! Bless you!
Thank you so much, great session!
@@tiffanyandtheshihtsu It was so great having. your help again, Tiffany!
I saw it too but on replay.
Brilliant stuff. Sky safari makes for a much more enjoyable night out in the dark
oh I'm so upset I missed this! but thanks for doing this - its exactly what I was hoping for :)
I did it kind of spontaneously last night - and didn't feel like it merited an audience... so I didn't really promote it in advance. I hope it helps!
Very interesting. Thank you.
@@valeriemoore4250 Thanks for stopping by!
Sorry I missed you tonight
@@larrychristianson2244 Hi Larry. They weren’t normal observing sessions. We hadn’t announced them even. So no problem!!!
Interesting but unable to see what you're pointing at with 1080p due to the RUclips compression. Perhaps uploading 2k or 4k would help. Clear Skies.
@@millenialfalcon8243 thanks. Great idea.
Hey Doug, missed the livestream but watching now! I need some inspiration for the new season 24/25... :)
@@stefangapko let’s do this Stefan!
How did you set up your target list in astro planner? Did it create for you? Or did you put them all in?
@@ChuckBigbie Hi Chuck. i found the pre-made list in the user-contributed plan download stack. someone had done the heavy lifting for me. There were just a couple of errors I have found so far but for the most part, it was pre-made.
@EmeraldHillsSkies I have looked at the asrto planner catalogs, is that the correct place? Name?
@@ChuckBigbie yes… make sure you’re viewing user-contributions. starts with “1001 …”
you know it’s Astroplanner, not Skytools, right?
@@EmeraldHillsSkies yes
is chat on not seeing any
hi karatane Dunedin New Zealand and if all goes well will be observing with my trusty seestar shortly hindquarters is ok just no poop please 🙂
maybe you can consider doing a review now for Astroplanner. You seem to prefer it over the rest. Your work flow using astroplanner particularly how you sort for observation like the messier marathon and group together object for observation. I think it would be very helpful.
@@eacron Great idea! We’ll do it!
Doug where was the moon?
@@redangelloverdollarsign Hi Redangel. It had not risen yet.
a beautiful and lovely orion nebula
This was my first fime join live stream
@@redangelloverdollarsign Thanks for joining!!!
In 2024 I am having the same problem with windows 11. Ioptron haven't bothered to update their trouble shooting tips since 2017. Poor show.
Galaxy hunting with a RASA 11 very well done.
Thanks for the encouragement, Matorsbon. I'll be honest - sometimes it feels like I have *so* much to learn. So your positive encouragement means a lot. Thanks for stopping by!
Pesky clouds! However, a super 1 hour session of observing. Really enjoyable as usual. Looking forward to your next observing session. Did you see that the latest SharpCap version allows you to unstack the last frame. If you see a satellite photo-bomb the shot. You need to unstack the offending sub before the next frame is stacked. 😊
@@Xio2011 that’s awesome! can’t wait to try it. Did you hear our audience giving thanks for you? 🙃
@@EmeraldHillsSkies It's just a simple tool. You and your observing team are as always too kind. I won't be doing much astro stuff for awhile. The puppy, Newton has arrived! He might be an astronomy dog one day, but for now its bite and play 😂
@@Xio2011 we will be on the edge of our seat for additional reports.
The short exposures wins it for me. There's more signal and the graininess could be reduced with more exposures.
I'm a big fan of EAA!
yayyyy! Thanks for stopping by!
Why did you add noise to the audio track? Explain to me, how does adding noise make it easier for me to hear what you are saying?
Disappointed I missed this live stream! Love all the faint fuzzies!
Scott, thanks for stopping. it was sure all about a bunch of faint fuzzies!!! 🙃
Sorry I missed most of the live stream. I was (finally) getting some visual with my 127 and G11. First time I really had goto working on it. I was working across Scorpio and Sagitarius Messier objects. So much higher in the sky here than when I was in MN. One downside, dew; all over everything by 11:30. I confirmed my eyes and skies really aren't that great anymore; and a refractor gets you bending in all sorts of odd positions. I really have to go EAA.
Well done tho … to be out there
How neat!
You're sweet to encourage, Jessica!
Thanks Pete and Doug!
Good to see a new posting. Thank you Pete and Doug.
Thanks for stopping by, Larry!
Thank you Pete! You are amazing! Thanks for the "skylette" Doug! Appreciate you guys 😊
Tiff, Pete says you are one of the staff!!! ❤
@@EmeraldHillsSkies Oh! That is such an honor! Pete, thank you for your amazing skills and generosity!
is Betelgeuse getting crazy?
OMG. My favorite two EAA live streamers. And now together? What is happening? I was also tinkering with Pete’s code that he published on Github, mainly the part that is used to communicate with SharpCap, Pete used queue service (M2Mqtt), I changed that for something far more simpler, but not as simple as the placing a file in the folder and monitoring it. It’s a work in progress, but I promise to show it when it is ready. Thanks for sharing. I hope to see more streams from both of you soon. Clear skies!
Great video and topic! Question: with alt-az mount tracking- if the sequencer is doing frequent plate solves and re-centering the object and live-stacking is aligning stacked images as it goes - why do you need the de-rotator device to turn the camera? Better image stacking? I hope/think this process will help me with my short exposure alt-az imaging. I don’t want to use/buy a de-rotator. Great solution and video! Just heard Mike Dobres say that the de-rotator is not necessary. No need for any replies. This process is excellent! Thanks for this video.
yes, as I recall, the D rotator diminished some artifacts along the edges of the image that should not affect the center all that much. The truth is, my guest had developed this technique. I use an equatorial amount, so I am not personally familiar with those artifacts. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Hi, just my 2 cents worth. I've done some astrophotography with an equatorial mount and also with the alt az dobsonian mount. The alt az mount "needs" a de-rotator to account for field rotation. But I found that if I use good stacking software like Astro Pixel processor it took care of field rotation when stacking. But I still had to crop the image around 10-15% around the edges though :-) Which is why I put quotes around "needs" de-rotator 😅
@@ziggyfrnds I bet that's the effect that my guest was describing. He specifically talked about the fact that the de-rotator helped with the "edges." Thanks for pitching in!
Got some really cool pictures and timelapse all the way down here in South Florida !
go you! That’s awesome!
Burnham's Celestial Handbook has a finder chart for T CrB on page 710 (Volume II).
thanks!!!!!
Was about to tune in at 4:30 (AZ) and got distracted..
Thanks Ken. Hope to see you next time.
I am trying to run my telescope camera from inside my house for EAA. I have connected my telescope camera to my PC using a Conable USB 3.0 Active Extension Cable with a signal booster. When using my SvBony 705c (asi585), the PC does not get enough of a signal to function. When using my SvBony 405c (asi294), the PC does get enough signal to function, but the signal is corrupted. I started with a 50' cable and when that exhibited these symptoms, I bought a shorter 25' cable it failed as badly. I tried on two laptops and the PC and had the same results in every case. Does anyone use a USB cable to connect their telescope camera to their computer? If so, what brand do you use and what length of cable do you use? Any other ideas? Thanks.
Hello Amature Astronomer. Have you tried a Tripp Lite cable? I could sendyou one of these to try. I have an extra. $25 plus shipping? That's 1/4 price. It works GREAT for me. Either way, I'd try that one. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N59XNO7/
What panetarium app do you use in this video?
Hello valdasstonkus. This is Starry night Pro. but i’ve since switched to Stellarium. Starry Night Pro had 2 or 3 annoying bugs that Sim curr just never would prioritize. they finally just wore me out. So Stellarium now. Not looking back. What do you prefer?
Not used to seeing you in the daylight....
kind of terrifying, i’m sure! Thanks for stopping by, Bowks!
We were observing from Seymour, Indiana. We said, "The eclipse was about to start,"... but we meant, "Totality is about to start." : )
