Yes, I’m still using it… if it doesn’t work perhaps you need to upgrade the firmware? You must contact the support.

It is a “beta” version for hdmi. Only 640 and 320 graphic resolution of the IIgs are supported. Not test or any other apple II video mode. Also, border colors are not supported. This is why I have the second screen for the demo. Without this screen, I would not be able to go to CDA menu.

@@christophelambert8478 ok, I got it. The flat screen on the IIgs is displaying the real analog output (or VIDHD maybe) and the flat TV the HDMI output of the Apple II squeezer. I hope that the CDA menu will be displayed eventually. Thanks!

@stephanepitteloud1849 exact! It is analog from the RGB port of the IIGS and a Scart cable….

So my IIgs (for video) is a ROM03 and I confirm that my cfa3000 is working perfectly. For the SD card, it is in the hands of Antoine but he’s a very busy guy. Niek is also providing all the info if someone wants to do the driver. So the bad news is that it doesn’t work yet…. And of course a big thanks for your comment and feedbacks ! How did you order AppleSqueezer already? when I go to the website it doesn't let me yet. Only an option to get notified when it's ready. (Mr. Lambert is lucky to have two of these, I think -- one in the computer, one on the desk there.)

@cathrynm ahahaha no no no! I had a preversion for testing and for providing video of the card. The one on my desk is version 1.0 :-)

@@christophelambert8478 SDCard sounds very useful to me. I already have good video, so I don't care about HDMI so much, but anything to improve load times on Apple IIGS would be very nice.

Some features are missing but out of that….. hope you’ll find a way to order! If yes let me know I’m looking for a pair of them for my IIe and another IIgs !

Hi! I think a lot can be done:-) by the way, I’m not the creator/dev of the AppleSqueezer :-) just a classical user who is doing video about it. The best to answer your questions is to contact directly Niek via his website www.applesqueezer.com . About video, there is a video card called VidHD which provide the ability to redirect the video signal via HDMI. About sound, you have tons of cards that are taking care of the onboarded ensoniq coprocessor like Darksound for example. Best !

Interesting point! The issue is that I’m using a vidHD and to set it up, you need to have your computer with a US layout. After the boot and changing settings of the vidHD (set up is not saved you need to change it EVERYTIME !!!!) if I forget to go to the control panel and switch it back to French, I have this keyboard mismatch….

Unfortunately no. I received the device with the firmware pre-loaded. And I also don’t know which version was a problem. But my advise, if you have this device and run into this, open a case directly to zagg support.

If you are an Apple IIGS addict, this is just to show how the demo called Modular made in the early '90's are running well and smooth today on an accelerated Apple IIGS. Hope it is more clear for you ;-) Best, C.

Hey ! you are right ! (and received several message about it !). Since a week, I have an issue with one of my ear.... :-( this will be fix later this week end I didn't realised that one of the 2 stereo channel of my sound card was.... disconnected ! I'm using a DarkSound audio card connected to my Bose LifeStyle system. But the point was really to demonstrate to have Modulas running at 14 MHz with AppleSqueezer :-) Thanks for your message and also for watching !

Thanks for watching :-) and as said in a previous comment, I didn't realised for the sound as I have an issue with one of my ear... :-( But the point was more to demonstrate its working.... Agree with your speed comment. But when you run it after in "normal" speed, you see the difference.... By the way after all these years, I'm still blown away how FTA (and some other groupes) were able to do so many good code !!!!!

Hi, thanks for your note but I think you need to visit on regular basis : www.brutaldeluxe.fr for regular new games for IIGS and some others for regular II. You have also a unbelievable community and shops doing new hardware for the IIGS like the VidHD (hdmi output), Darksound (stereo card), CFFA3000 (usb/cf storage), uthernet II (ethernet card and all IP stack for this machine that was made few years ago) and and and… also some people had accelerators in their IIGS (transwarp or zipGS), but AppleSqueezer is made with modern hardware, so less expensive than these old cards, less heating, and very efficient…

A 40 year old 8/16 bit computer is a "dead platform"? Say it ain't so :D Anyway, some of the best games for a IIGS just about *require* an accelerator (Wolf 3D, OOTW are two examples), and even those that came out in its day are better with an accelerator. Most IIGS games use VBL sync so accelerators enhance the experience (rather than making them too fast like accelerating most 8 bit games). And of course System 6 is much more usable with an accelerator. No one can take advantage of hardware that doesn't exist... The fact the Applesqueezer exists means we are getting another high speed disk option we wouldn't otherwise have.

@@nightcrayon When I said it was dead, I didnt' mean it in the commercial sense. Sure, that goes without saying. I mean there are very few if any games coming out NOW. The Atari 2600 is getting many games per month. So is the C64. The Colecovision library has probably tripled in the last 10 years. The same is true for many other platforms (speccy, Amstrad CPC et al) It is a great time to be a retrogamer. The IIGS doesn't appear to be getting much retro love. A LOT of the stuff coming out on other platforms just absolutely blows away any release from the commercial era of these platforms.(check out "A Pig Quest" released last week for the C64) I just don't see it for the IIGS. It would be nice if they were, but they're not. Even the Amiga is seeing a TON of releases. What exactly are you using OS6 for? You're using it to browse to installed games. Nobody is using it for productivity. Frankly, it seems like a lot of money to play a game your computer can already play better than a 286 or IIGS ever could (Wolfenstein). Both PCs and MAC can run it perfectly under DOSBOX. It is your money though. If you think it's fun, knock yourself out I suppose.

​@@tarstarkusz Of course- none of this is for practical reasons. It's a hobby. No matter which retro hardware you choose, it probably costs more than emulating it in a window on a modern computer. The GS has fewer new games now for the same reason it did in the 80s, a proportionately smaller market and fewer developers. But games aren't the only way to enjoy a retro computer (I say this in the middle of trying to modify an old 8 bit game and add some iigs features :D ), and the IIGS is still quite a fun platform to play with and program. These things are made better by having an accelerator (that will hopefully become more available).

@@nightcrayon It's YOUR money. You can have it gold plated if that is what floats your boat. I would never tell you how to enjoy your hobby. I agree that buying the hardware is more money and that people can make the same argument I'm making. However, in the case of Wolfenstein, it's different. It's a PC game. It's been ported a lot, I admit, but it IS originally a DOS game. The port must really be inefficient. A 1MB 8mhz 286 with 256k graphics RAM with the slowest VGAgraphic chip will run it OK. I would think the port could be done to run the game full (or close to full) speed on stock hardware with 1MB of RAM. I tend to disagree (not that you don't enjoy it, just that I and most others wouldn't). With a single exception, gaming is the only reason to have old hardware. The exception being if you are locked into old hardware for real work. There is a LOT of old hardware out there silently working in the background that nobody has upgraded for a variety of reasons. But outside of that, there is very, very little old computers can do that new computers not only can also do, but do it faster and better. It is a shame the IIGS doesn't get more love. It's a very powerful games computer and from what I know, has outstanding sound hardware and decent graphics capability for the time(320x200x4096). In some ways, it's more powerful than an Amiga. It is a bit hamstrung with the low clock 65816cpu. That was a good CPU, so I've heard, but the low clock speed kind of harms it. The problem with upgrades is it makes an already small market even smaller. For as low as the number of IIGS's in current working condition owned by someone who wants to use it, the number with that upgrade is a fraction of that small number.
