Thanks for this post of one of the most-beautiful Writers Edition pens. I must respectfully disagree with your comparison to the "Blue Hour" pens. I think the "Cool Blue" StarWalker pens are much more similar and equally beautiful.

I was in the Hamburg boutique a few days before this went public and it was offered to me, and I was so dumb I turned it down thinking "meh...just a color and the orient express itself means nothing to me." A month or so later I thought no, I do want one...and they were already pretty much all gone.

Yes, I love the MB Homer for several reasons: 1. the matte finish inhibits fingerprints which is a real plus for me as I like to use my pens 2. the BIG 149 nib with Greek helmet stamping which emphasizes that this is a fountain pen AND it is all about the hellenistic evocations that this pen seeks to create 3. the lovely box with raised thermo-engraved lettering - a sign of the effort (and expense) expended on this pen 4. the elegant champagne gold coating which is a noticeable departure from the usual brassy yellow gold hardware on many MB pens. I have purchased pens from IZODS before and have been thoroughly satisfied with the excellent customer service and quality of offerings on the website.

👏🕊ooh those would be nice! I still remember the very early private demonstrator of the 149 you had years ago. Oh what a dream that was. I thought I'd be rich enough to afford it by now it appears having a PhD in physics ruins your life! (Your earnings at least!).
