BlueJays Orchids
Добавлен 11 июл 2022
The orchid bug has taken over my life / environment. I started seriously collecting in 2020 and I currently have hundreds, not sure the exact amount-they just tend to multiply. Having fun learning how to make my orchids and plants thrive while being a wife, mom of two little kids and just overall busy. My channel is for everyone, just fun activities with plants and family.

Novelty Phalaenopsis Repotting How To
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Great repotting video!! Especially with the phal keikies.
I love my project days when I repot keikis. It’s so zen. The getting started is the part I struggle. But once I’m all set I enter the orchid therapy zone. 😊
@@naturenel Yes I always enjoy when I get time to play with my orchids. Mine is a little more chaotic because I get interrupted a lot from a 2 and 4 year old lol🤣. I will sometimes do plant chores when they go to bed that is zen although my neighbors probably think I am crazy lol 🤣. Thanks for watching my friend 🤗
Omg! That's magnificent...
@@anndriggers6660 thank you ☺️
My favorite video!!!
@@JustOneMoreOrchid Thank you! They take a lot of work but I love watching the flowers move. Also the plant is loving your pot 🤗
How is she liking being mounted in a palm? I just bought my first two oncidiums in south fl and not sure if I should pot, mount in cork or a palm …
@@williamgreen6976 she is blooming again. I think she would be happy with any of those options. Just depends on what kind of care you want to give. Also the most important part is the right lighting enough light to bloom but not too much to burn. If you have a pygmy date palm I haven’t met many orchids that dislike them.
A crazy storm for sure!! So much damage everywhere! Glad you guys are good now though and the garden didn't suffer much.
Filming and preparing for hurricane is difficult at best. Thank goodness you are the way you are. Please don't change; viewers love you the way you are. You bring light to the downside of being an orchid hobbyist in this weird-weather state. There is no judging here on your RUclips channel. Respectfully,
@@dsiegel22 Thank you. Oh I am stubborn and I am not a people pleaser so I don’t see me changing lol 🤣. Yes I always try to share as much as I can without invading my family’s / kids privacy too much. Thank as always for watching and commenting 🤗
Never realized your collection was so large. You did a great job protecting them. Yes, it would be interesting to learn how you caught orchid fever.
@@marylalone7104 Thank you I realized it was big but I too didn’t realize how big lol 🤣. Probably because I have a lot on my trees that I don’t move except for a storm. Yes I will figure out a way to do a what got me hooked on orchids video. 👍
Love the orchid along with the beautiful pot.
@@donnasherwood9540 thank you 🤗the orchid is from Bredren Orchids. The pot is from Just one more orchid.
I don’t know what is worse or if all of it is bad, maybe there is no worse experience. For me the build up to a storm arriving, getting mixed messages, the not knowing, is just as bad as when the event hits, or passes by. I am glad that He protected you and all your loved ones, pets included ❤
@@NinjaOrchids Yes not sure what is worse either. I think I lean towards the unknown because the mind can play cruel tricks. But don’t want to do any of that again. Yes very thankful that all my loved ones are safe and no one had bad damage. Thank you my friend good to hear from you hope all is well 🤗
@@BlueJays_Orchids ❤
Is the zip tie sufficient to hold them?
Yep most of the time they root well sometimes the zip tie can break before 100% rooted but that hasn’t happened often
I took pictures of plant placement so I knew where they went back. I had no damage but see fungal issues here and there and see that my plants feel out of sorts. It didn't happen overnight and it's not going to get better overnight either. Big takeaway here is people and pets first, plants afterward.
@@dsiegel22 Yes completely agree things are replaceable lives aren’t. That is a good idea I have video of where all the plants where but I am also changing stuff around too. A trick I was taught too is to always have the tag 🏷️ in the same place so you know what direction the plant was facing. Sometimes tags fall out but still helps if the tag is there lol 🤣. It will get there just going to take time.
Glad to u know you and family are safe
@@OnceuponanOrchid thank you 😊
Cheer up, I do hope that you haven’t suffered much damages. It’s always very frustrating when these natural disasters occur, but with time you will overcome. Best wishes from Jamaica
I am not sad just more shock and exhaustion. I feel very relieved or damaged was not that bad. I appreciate the kind words 🤗
Safety first, food and shelter and thank heavens for family being close by. FPL should be finished clearing all of the tickets for restoring power to Florida customers by week's end. Hope this elevates your spirits. Respectfully,
We got power today! We spent the day cleaning everything because that long without power stuff was funky. But all good now. Tomorrow I can start putting the orchids back again
glad you made it thru safely...
Thank you 😊
Sorry you & your family had to go thru the storm, stay safe 🙏
Thank you 😊
So happy to hear from you. Stay safe. Would love to hear from the other utubers, how they’re doing.
Thank you for the most part where I am in Florida was a direct hit we got the eye of the storm. I have heard or seen post from most of the other RUclipsrs. A lot of our phones don’t work unless we have internet or go somewhere else too so the ones I haven’t heard from I think a few more days we will. All the people on the other coast should be fine too.
Stay safe Justine, you and your family.. take good care🙏🏽🩷🍃
Thank you ☺️ has been a wilde ride of late

Such gorgeous blooms!! Your kiddo is adorable!! That Amazing Thailand is stunning!! As well as that dark spotted one that's mounted. Very beautiful!!
Thank you my friend 🤗 the spotted one is Day Tripper it smells amazing too love that one. Yes my oldest has a few orchids that are his. He picked them out and really enjoys checking on them.
@@BlueJays_Orchids so awesome to get him in touch with nature so young and yes the day tripper is awesome!
Lots of beautiful blooms! And such a varied collection. Do you get slugs and snails from the grass around your orchid structure or do the lizards eat them? I could never put mine that close to the ground w/o getting those slimy critters (copper tape barriers help a bit). Looking forward to future bloom updates - you have a nice collection and peaceful way of presenting your blooms. 😀
@@marylalone7104 I want to eventually get rid of the grass I am just not sure what my permanent structure will be yet. I have noticed sometimes I get more fungus in the plants lower. I have snakes and lizards that I think eat the slugs and snails I don’t see much of them also birds might help with eating them too I am but sure 🤷♀️. Thank you so much for the kind words and watching 🤗
Beautiful orchids blooms, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🤗
Justine what a refreshing video to watch after all of the hurricane updates on the news stations. Keep up your great orchid growing. We've got so many cattleyas in sheath; fall will be a much better and hopefully cooler month as we grow forward. Thank goodness south Florida managed to dodge Hurricane Helene. Rest up this weekend and get out in the fresh air. Respectfully,
Thank you I have some cleaning up to do from the storm but yes very fortunate here. I was actually out of town just got back today. But excited to do an update when I get a chance. Thanks for watching 🤗
Oh and those colors I'm glad you mentioned that it's fragrant. I can't wait to see mine bloom.
