This game brings back so many memories ! I used to play it when I was 5-7 yo with my friends. We found it in the play chest of our school and were the only one to play it lol I don’t remember how we learned the rules but from what I see we weren’t so bad at following them !
i was searching nigerian games to adapt to videogame format and i found this game and it is just so much fun, i played with my sister a while and she loved it me too, thank you for your explanation, and for explaining the story behind it.
Nicee to meet you. perfect !catch you later. 👋
Seeing these photo has brought back memories of a wonderful, fulfilling dream. Has made me aware of how important my ancestors were, there bravery to endure. The country still carry out tradition so all can see and know that African are God's chosen people. I thank you for the wonderful learning experience that I will never forget.
Have been looking for videos to learn the game. This is the first video that really explain the game well. I appreciate that a lot. Thank you. Keep up the good work!!! 👍
Is Oware the same as Mancala?
It’s a version of mancala, so kinda yes kinda no
Thank you. My friend brought this game for me when on holidays, its beautiful to look at and now I can enjoy the game with family and friends too. Love the history of the game too ❤
Brilliant. I attended a school in Bo, Sierra Leone where this game was as popular as football, which is saying something for a boys' school
Love this video
Thank you for sharing the origin story, it is beautiful... also kind of you to educate on basic play with the knowing that there are advanced options of play
Thank you.

Correction : enslaved or stolen African dungeons, these fixtures were definitely not castles .
That is actually incorrect. Dungeons are a constituent part of castles just like battlements watchtowers, moats, drawbridges and turrets. Dungeons became a staple in medieval castle construction during the Plantagenet period, ie between 1154 and 1485, and were used to hold prisoners of war and political prisoners. The earliest dungeons were initially in the Great Keep or Tower but for security reasons, were moved underground to prevent prisoners from escaping from the fort or castle. Edinburgh Castle, Pontefract Castle, Warwick Castle, Dover Castle, even Windsor Castle all have dungeons as well so the fact that Elmina/Cape Coast Castles have dungeons too is moot. It's like calling a car a wheel because it has wheels
It’s personal. :59 seconds and👎. I don’t like y’all. Y’all some foot shufflers. I just plain don’t like y’all.
Please, for your imformation, he is not a king, but rather a paramount chief in Akyem Abuakwah in Eastern region of Ghana.
You called it African ,we called it Home
Waow i love your videos and I have just subscribed to your channel thanks

U always welcome home to the motherland 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🥰
The buildings from where thousands of our brothers and sisters were kept prisoners before going to the Americas were dungeons, this place cannot be called castle as the meaning for castle is, a fortified, usually walled residence, as of a prince or noble in feudal times.
