Making a stand for the Joint Maker Pro
Просмотров 411Год назад
In this project I'm making use of left over laminated 2x materials to create a stand for the Bridge City Tools JMPV2. I must say if I didn't have this material left over I would never have designed anything like this. So I wouldn't recommend you make this exact stand. I'm hoping the methods and thoughts behind choices at each fork in the road are helpful in some way. Approximate chapters 0:00 t...

Sneaking up on the fit
Просмотров 120Год назад
Learning so much each time I use the CNC machine. Some of our old practices don't make sense and as you'll see can actually make things much more difficult. With hand tools and even manually operated power tools we're used to trimming until it fits. Some habits are hard to break. I've learned a lesson the hard way. Death of a headboard

Why is it so hard to say no? Can't I put this wood to good use? In order to be able to continue working in your shop you need to process these items if you're going to accept them. Sometimes things don't dismantle as gracefully as you might hope.

Thanks for taking us through some of the practicalities. Bit choice seems such a critical thing!
My pleasure. With this really thin 2 color material it is. A tiny bit of height difference and you have inconsistent line weight. If you were selling these a customer might not accept the variations. Thanks for your comment.
Excellent! I have the ACS and love it.
Thanks for the comment James. Poor mans MFT I guess. I have learned since the purchase there seems to be much more accessories available for 20mm dog holes, than exist for the 3/4" holes.
Needs a theme song, eh.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for sharing your process, as a beginner it really helps :) Hope you are enjoying your JMP on its table :)
Hey thanks for your comment. The table is a little unconventional, but I always try to use every last scrap. Hopefully some JMP projects are coming soon.
Hello, how are you? I just had this video come up to check out so I did. Subbed and liked... and looking forward to your videos.. On the little piece with the nice edges.... could you find your two holes and drill them out on your blank for that piece instead of even worrying about holding the extremely hard piece to clamp?
Hey there. Thanks for subscribing. Regarding your question, there are often more than one day to do a "thing" as I'm sure you know. I wanted to use the inserts so that I could easily remove and reinstall it should the need arise. If I had planned better I could have drilled the holes prior to cutting and shaping the piece...hind sight eh.
💯 "PromoSM"
Hey Walter, I hadn't posted a followup on this unit because it seemed like the topic was getting really dry. However please know that this was finally resolved by Grizzly sending me a new motor and fan wheel. I installed them myself. I think the major drawback of this item is that it's just not sturdy enough for the shipping. It's fine for the service though and I'm super happy with it now...
Thanks for the video. I was all set to order then I saw this video. Good luck.
it is a hard way of doing it, it is easier to use dowels or Bisquit, in the 45 degree angle or i see you have the tase of spending loads on tools festtool dominos. you still talk to much and very slow. love your tools though but it is clear you need more practise with them. less talk more builds, i looking forward to see your progress and hopefully you come with some original projects. a tip on cutting the profile put less pressure on top and try to move in a smoother motion use a stick to push from the back instead doing by hand.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay tuned, more to follow.
nice information , but hard to get through, very slow spoken and lot of useless info as well, not a negative but a tip for your next video. speed it up and do something on your sound if possible. would have loved to see the build.
Thanks for the tips. I will certainly work on improvement.
sounds like maybe a piece of packing is still in the squirrel cage.
Hey thanks for the comment. This was the third filter Grizzly shipped to me. It turned out that the motor mounts that fasten the motor to the fan housing were far from co-planer causing the shaft to enter the fan housing far off square such that the direct drive squirrel cage rubbed against the inside of the housing. I elected to disassemble, diagnose and Grizzly sent me replacement parts for re-assembly. It was a pain but I really liked the features of this unit. It has VOC and dust sensors allowing it to adjust the speed relative to the contaminate levels. I'd love to recommend this purchase but only if you're up for a challenge.

Hi Daniel, I did a couple of follow up videos as Grizzly replaced this unit for me twice. The third unit I took apart and found that the motor mounts, (bent flat bar metal welded to the motor housing) were horribly out of square causing the fan wheel to run so out of true that it scrapped the sides of the fan housing. Once I convinced Grizzly of this they sent me a replacement motor which they inspected and was in "good enough square" to resolve the issue. To be honest this was a massive hassle and if it hadn't been resolved I would have demanded my money back. I encourage you to contact Grizzly. Their customer service is excellent.. Please let me know how things go for you. John
Hey.. I got this one yesterday! Probably this one is exact one because it had already been opened and had the same problems. 😑 What did you end up doing with yours?
Quick update on this. Grizzly customer support was excellent. They responded very quickly, asked a few questions and requested some pictures. The replacement unit is on the way. I'll check back in with a quick sound check and CFM verification when it arrives.
