I’ve never owned one but I hear they are very good to ride. Polaris calls theirs the Sportsman Touring and the come in 570, 850, and 1000 engine sizes.

kid and I did it with the bumper skin on. 2015 jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with the off- road pkg. Not a super fan of this car. Had to abandon the skin removal due to the riveted on to the fender. pulling the skin away from the bolts was ok but it was a 3 handed job. I could do it with a couple 2x4's as a shim to hold it out. the arms were easy to take after the frame extensions were off. E-torqs 16, 18, 20 are manditory tools 21mm for skid plate 18mm and 19 mm sockets 6mm allen for the balljoint and a pitman arm puller with a steel shim ontop of the ball joint bolt. Sloppy 8 hrs for us. But I enjoyed my kid doing the work mostly.

I've had my 26 gal Fortress Ultra Quiet for just over two weeks now (12/24/24), and so far, so good. I've mainly used it for airing tires on family vehicles, and blowing leaves from around the driveway and walkways near the garage. I commented last week on last year's video, and wasn't disappointed to have a few "Dad Jokes" in this one, as well. Thanks for being an understanding & tolerant neighbor to the kids with the band. Who knows - they may be the next "big thing" in a couple of years, and may well remember the folks that *didn't* complain about their practice sessions!! One question: I noticed you swapped out the left air outlet for the Harbor Freight high flow fittings. Do you find your ka-dukka-duks run better on that set up vs the standard air connectors? Again, thanks for the content, and the follow-up is greatly appreciated.

@@Gunnr1236 thank you for your comments, you are very kind. I really don’t know if the “high flow” fittings really make a difference, but in my mind they sounded like a good idea. I've had the 10-gallon version for about a year, and it's been great. It really is much quieter than the others I've had. It makes plenty of air and keeps up well with all the tools I use on it. There is an easy 20 minute break-in procedure you have to preform with it before putting it to use (run for 20 min with the drain valve open), and it's listed at the front of the instruction manual. If you don't do it, the compressor tends to fail early. Many people miss it by not reading the manual before using it.

You did an awesome job 🙂 That thing looks 100X better than it did! If I could give you just 1 bit of advice, paint the plastics with a neutral color( black, gray, etc..) then wrap it !! You stated that it's not a restoration, and obvious it's more of "custom" job, I would wrap it with a wrap from AMR Racing. I did my sons 2010 Sportsman XP 550, my other sons 2017 Sportsman 570 and my 2017 Sportsman 850 SP and they turned out awesome!! the wrap my son picked out didn't match the burgundy painted plastics from the factory, so I removed all the decals, stickers, and repainted them in a "graphite metallic", it turned out awesome, only cost me about $40 in paint and supply's + $270 for the wrap!! I'm trying to figure out how to share pictures with you?? I'll leave a link to their website, check out all their stuff 🙂 Awesome video, look forward to what you have planned for this. Good honest video. I'm glad you like your Polaris, but I detect a little disdain for them too? To me, Polaris engineers must skip right over their cousins and go right for their sisters. Some of the most bassackwards, hairbrained designs and features of any brand anywhere, IMO. All the crap I've seen them do is too numerous to list here, but I will comment on the one you mentioned....AWD. Ok, AWD has it's place, for sure. It's fantastic in a rally car, or in a family sedan made for good mpg, or even patchy ice and snow on a highway. But in the off-road world that ATVs are built for, it's not even close to the best system. An autonomous locker that must slip before it engages simply does NOT work better than a true 4wd open diff with a manual locker. From a user standpoint, a locker must work all the time in places such as Moab where the sandpaper grip of the slickrock will rarely let a Polaris kick it's front wheels in to help "pull" the quad over a ledge or crack. A manual 4wd with a manual locker ALWAYS has the system in operation so there is always power to the front wheels regardless of traction. Secondly, from an engineering standpoint, a magnetically operated clutch pack locker with sensors renders the machine with a major problem in that the front wheels are never mechanically connected to the rears. The result is the need for another band aid system to correct for rear wheel only engine brake skid, and that's exactly what ADC is. Polaris tried to make it sound like only their machines with ADC have engine braking on hills, and that they invented it and own it, but it's hilarious to every other brand user out there because our machines automatically have engine braking to four wheels simply by just having the 4wd system engaged. No other systems or computerized garbage needs to correct for going down a hill without your back end fishtailing all over. Also, a true 4wd system works just as good in reverse as it does in forward. So if you get started down a line on a hill and need to back up and take a different line, it does it effortlessly amd automatically. On a Polaris AWD system, the computer cancels the ADC as soon as the gear selection goes into reverse! Polaris People.....friends, Polaris has been trying to reinvent the wheel for decades and selling you the Koolaid that their bad idea was actually a good one. There is a reason why all serious off road vehicles from buggies to Jeeps to ATVs have 4wd systems and not AWD systems. Don't even get me started on battery placement, gas tank placement, air box placement, roll centers, center of gravity, shotty workmanship, cheap plastics everywhere, one lever braking, 900 pound ATV's, servicing nightmares, high stall helix's, etc etc. Every Polaris owner eventually learns that you must start thinking about trading in your Polaris at the 3000 mile mark if you want to have something to ride and not be in the shop, under water.

Loved the video and your sense of humor.👍 One thing you might want to start doing is loosening the fill plugs first before you drain the oils. That way, if the plug is too tight or is stripped, at least you can still run it because there's still oil in it. And "W" does not mean "weight". It means "winter".😉

I was attempting to replace mine (on a 2004 700 EFI twin) and they are TIGHT, REAL TIGHT and didn't budge using way more umph that should be necessary. Ive changed a lot of plugs in a lot to equipment over the years but have never had to use as much force as I applied in the failed attempts on this machine. Don't know the plugs in my machine has ever been replaced or not. Any suggestions other than just getting a little meaner with it? Any possibility of damaging anything? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions you or others might have..

Great video. Lots of good things in this video that appears to be the same or very similar to what my 2004 sportsman 700 efi twin. My front sstrut bumpers were also deteriorated and falling to pieces. You said you tried several different tools to get the front axles out of the differential but what were you usinig when you finally got it moving and out. Anyway, sure did enjoy this video and plan to watch at least a couple of more of yours tonight. Thanks again for sharing you time and experience.

Nice video!... Years ago we I went up to Lookout. At the time the trail from the Nadeau Trail was pretty good and I was able to make it in my Toyota Highlander without any problem. With the Defense mine, that was another story & bit much so we hiked the final 1/2 mile or so.
