Mathews Halon Bow Review
Просмотров 29 тыс.8 лет назад
Review of the new 2016 Mathews Halon. archeryhq.com/
Only 3 vids? You guys still in business?
.400 is to weak for 73/28
I can’t believe how easily you pull back 73 pounds I’m 61 225 pounds solid and I struggle with 70
Smoking for 28'' draw. What 328 should be in the 350 ibo range.
A drop away rest probably would have had the arrows chrono a few fps quicker
Pretty solid reviews. I would like to see more.
Great video, in your opinion what brand of bow tunes the easiest and is the most accurate and forgiving ? Hoyt, prime, elite, Mathews ?
Great review! Quick question. Since my draw is 28", which cam size shall I go for and from which cam I'll have a bit more speed? Number 2 or number 3? Thanks!
this or the hoyt defiant 30?
Mega Mang I went with the Mathews halon and I'm happy with my decision
I'm currently shooting a Monster Chill X and I was wondering how the draw cycle compares to the Halon 6. In my opinion the Chill X is one of the smoothest drawing bows out there but I like the speed of the Halon 6.
Matthews makes good bows but there rediculussly expensive!
what a great review! I can't wait to get in there and check it out!
Great review. Any Stone Grey models in yet?
So if i understand the heavier arrow is faster? Thanks!:)
No, but it hits harder.
Obviously the elite impulse smokes this bow in speed. But what about the draw cycle and weight with alloy riser?
i noticed that the 7" brace height ibo's the same as my nocam,i havent shot the halon yet but i plan to soon,my wife wants to start real bow hunting instead of a crossbow so gonna look at the halon might just get her a nocam like mine though
WHAT!?! 269fps whit 74 lbs my old Mathews Icon shoots 276 fps by 56 lbs and 28,5 drawlenght
+Jack Herer gotta take into consideration that is a whisker biscuit which reduces speed right off the bat. are you using a whisker biscuit on yours when you tested for chrono?
Phantim3dx No i dont shoot a Whisker Biscuit rest i use the Ripcord Fall Away Rest and my Arrowweight is 456gr
+Jack Herer his chrono is jacked up or something. Should be 295 with fmjs
lol you have to pull back 73# to get some speed with that bow wow, so I don't with lower poundage then you would get above 280# that's interesting Mathews bows!
Um...what?
I shoot 71lbs out of a Halon 32 with a 459 grain axis arrow at 303 fps
between the Defiant and the Halon.....whats your pick and why?
+Charles Coleman I shot both last weekend and man that Halon 6 was amazing! defiant was loud and had a lot of cam lean. ( i know it just needed a better tune job) but that Halon had no hump, fast as crap, love love the new grip, and was the quietest bow i've ever shot. :)
Sounds good!!!! ATTN: Adam,If by chance you read my earlier comments ( which I deleted ) I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for being quite so harsh. Thanks for the review and I'll be lookin' for the Halon 5" & 7" . Have you been able to even shoot either the 5" or 7" ? Ifn' so what kind of speed did you get from the hunting weight arrow you tested of 428gr. ? THANKS FOR ANY/ALL HELP!!!!!
I got to shoot the 5" at the ata show on Tuesday. Very fast and smooth. One thing though, unlike the nocam the draw cycle starts off hard which may cause shoulder problems for some. The wake, however, draws very similar to the nocam. Just thought I'd let you know.
good review. would like to see carbon and turbo models
+Charles Coleman The turbo is coming soon, but Hoyt is saying Carbon bows wont hit stores until around March
I'll be looking for the turbo video, and man the carbon one is the one i'm really wanting to see/shoot. Thanks
Thanks for the review. Will you be doing a review for the 5" & 7" brace heights?
+KY KRaZY We can do them, but it will probably be a while. Mathews sent everyone the 6" bows for the preorders so we probably wont see the 5" and 7" until after the holidays
good review real world speeds thanks
It has cam lean bro. Don't put that in everyone's head. It's clear The amount of pre lean just from looking at the view u have the bow sitting. It's suppose to have cam lean it's not a shoot through. Nice review
Most informative review. Thank You Archery Headquarters.
very nicely done review. I have been shooting the carbon knight by bowtech and was wondering what you think about the difference I can expect from a change like that when I get the halon?
+chris Going to the Halon you would definitely see a decrease in noise, smoother draw, and more speed right off the bat
skip the Halon. Go shoot the RPM 360. Smoothest draw cycle 70lbs feels like 60. 31" ATA. 6" brace height. I was shooting 330fps with meta peep, kisser button and D loop with 375gr arrow.
to archery headquarters.....just want to know the differences on the ATA, weight.brace ht.cams between Halon 6 and Halon X...thankyou
Do a video on thumb releases im wanting to switch to one , and there is very little info on youtube comparing the top brands.
+orvil marsee Can do. Any specific models you are looking for?
i like truball thumb releases so maybe some of theirs. and some others by other companies itll be a big help.
+Archery Headquarters Carter simple 1 versus scott exxus!
How much speed does a whisker biscuit take off the arrow over a drop away?
+SilverCyclist Generally a 1-2fps difference if even that
+SilverCyclist Wisker Biscuit doesn't take much speed off. It mainly can cause you to be much more inaccurate if any grip torque happens upon hitting the release. Outside of that, its great.
Great thorough review, that being said, i'm going to stay away from shooting it as I just picked up a no-cam not too long ago and don't want to be tempted! haha Question on your arrow weights that you'd used - you were using a .400 spine FMJ at 28" - I actually shoot a (heavier than i'd like) 500ish grain .340 spine FMJ with a decent FOC. If i'm shooting a No-Cam at ~70# draw weight, 29" draw length, but shooting a 28" cut FMJ, do you think it'd be underspined if I went to the .400 spine? On paper I know it is, but I feel like with FMJ's there's some more wiggle room on spine due to the composition, etc... Appreciate your thoughts, and keep up the great reviews-
+temujen Being that the FMJ is a really heavy arrow it affords you a little more wiggle room on the spine, coupled with the fact the No-cam is not an aggressive "cam" system you should be fine. If it was a dual cam speed bow I'd probably advise against it.
+Archery Headquarters could I shoot the Easton Injexions .400 spine cut at 28 inches with the Creed XS 28dl 70dw??
At first you complained about guys doing reviews with under weight arrows. But then you shoot a 342gr arrow through a bow at 73.7lbs. If my math is correct your arrow should at least be 368.5gr at 5gr per pound. Congratulations you just voided the warranty on that brand new bow. Smh.
+Kyle Gadd The point made in the beginning was that IBO speeds 70lb 30" draw with a 350g arrow is not a realistic hunting setup. The arrow weight has no bearing on the bows warranty, it is just a recommendation from Mathews - "Mathews does NOT recommend specific arrows or broadheads. The recommended minimum arrow weight is 5 grains per pound of draw."
+Kyle Gadd At 28" he should be fine. And in no shape or form does shooting an under 5 grain per pound arrow void warranty.
