Thanks for this video. I was just asking about that same setup. To an interface.
So the church imposes impossible standards, forcing probably a lot of church members to be hypocrites because they have to lie to appear to be acceptable/worthy and they must appear to be worthy. #Lori and Chad Daybell #Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt
Back when I used to be a faithful church-going christian (Baptist), I always wondered why I didn’t feel the joy, happiness, and peace of mind they were always saying that a relationship with god would bring. I NEVER felt it.
Interesting!
As someone with anxiety and specifically OCD Scrupulosity, I am certain that the covenants associated with the Church are the very best help for mental health that can be provided
The only guilt you feel is what you create yourself. The Church can’t control your feelings. You are making this crap up it’s all in your head. You leave yet you can’t let it go. Bro move on and get a life.
Humm did you not know that BYU is considered one of the best colleges in the US.?
this poor man is not mentally healthy. Hey dude seek a therapist. It is not about the church. it is about you.
What are investigators?
@@trilithon108 Investigators are people who are investigating or learning about the Church. We refer to anyone we are teaching about the Church as investigators.
@@genecurl6284 Thank you.
Richard Bushman just admitted on the ces RUclips channel that the Book of Mormon came from the seerstone in the hat…. So Mormonism came from a Crystal ball in a magic hat 🎩 🔮
Got a good sense of the rhythm of your day. A friend on the Big Island says meth is a real problem. 😮 😢
Guy cant live his religion so he wants to get “likes” on the internet. Pathetic.
yup . its Satans church . i feel bad for sweet people who get tricked into going to an evil church
I'm glad you're free from the church. fallow Jesus not the church. i was in the LDS . thank God God called me to get out of this false church
Gene, I also served in Hawaii Honolulu mission. My last area was Ke'ei, and we went to Miloli'i a few times. I became inactive shortly after returning and I'm currently exploring an official resignation.
@@gregorykelley5555 when did you serve? I served from December 2002 to December 2004.
@@genecurl6284 Oh much earlier. November 1985-1987
Come back you know it's true don't be overcome
Wow I can really relate!! Thanks so much for this. Despite getting hate for my new atheist status I've never been happier or healthier. That was another obstacle for me, even after getting rejected by family and friends in the church, then later getting criticized for not joining a different church.. I wish people would live and let live, seriously.
The most corrected book 😅😅😅
23:00 at this point in the story, I'm hoping you dumped Chelsea. Let's see how it ends. Edit: Oh, good.
I'm pretty sure that the way the church handled your mental health struggles was both abusive and criminal
Congratulations Gene for receiving the divine grace to make it out of the cult factory or is it called a corporation? Maybe both. Not sure. I too am a former missionary and God rescued me from Mormonism also. “Glory to God.” Not all of us make it out. Those who remain are either delusional or insane. Keep up the good work. Praying more will have their spiritual eyes of their heart opened and their mind illuminated and one day become enlightened.
So u could not handle being not selfish for 2 yrs
I pray for your return!
In addition to what your professor told you about, people want to hold on to their beliefs. I think that it's also true that believing is a lot easier than thinking
Regarding praying if you pray for rain and it doesn't rain, what does that tell you?, or if it rains and you haven't prayed for rain, what does that tell you? As he said in the video whatever was going to happen was going to happen anyway.
The scientific consensus does not support the occurrence of a global flood as described in the Bible. Here's an overview of the evidence: Geological evidence: - No geological layers or deposits consistent with a worldwide flood have been found. - The ordered fossil record in rock layers contradicts the idea of a single catastrophic flood. - Sedimentary patterns and rock formations indicate gradual deposition over long time periods rather than a single flood event. Biological evidence: - The diversity and distribution of species across continents and islands is inconsistent with all animals descending from survivors on a single ark. - Many species are endemic to specific regions, which would be unlikely if all land was submerged recently. Archaeological evidence: - Continuous human civilizations in various parts of the world show no evidence of interruption by a global flood. - Many ancient structures and artifacts predate the proposed time of the flood and show no signs of flood damage. While many cultures have flood myths, these likely stem from local flood events or shared cultural narratives rather than a single global event. Geologists and archaeologists generally interpret these myths as exaggerated accounts of significant local flooding. It's worth noting that some researchers have proposed more localized flood events in specific regions (like the Black Sea deluge hypothesis) as possible origins for flood myths. However, these theories are still debated and do not support a global flood as described in the Bible. If you're interested in exploring this topic further, I can provide more detailed information on specific lines of evidence or discuss how scientists study past climate and geological events.
I think your worries are over, I don't think that an imaginary God can send you to a non-existent hell! Free at last free at last!
One thing you should add is that in the book of Mormon it says that they didn't put windows in the barges that they came across the ocean in cuz they would be dashed to pieces, and this events took place supposedly hundreds of years before glass was invented. Maybe even up to 2,000. I don't know the exact number. Another thing is it says that they were driven by furious winds and the trip lasted 344 days. Now if they were only driven 10 mph by the furious winds, if you'll calculate that out over 24-hour period for 344 days, they would have traveled over 82,000 mi. They could have circumnavigated the globe almost four times. The story is ridiculous
Tight like unto a dish. Lasted a year
Don't forget the bees!
The bottom line of the video is a good quote from Gloria Steinem she famously said " The truth will set you free but first it will piss you off'" at the end of the day though, I think it's better to live in reality than to exist in a fantasy world. Of course, living in the fantasy world gives people psychological comfort and the hard edge is reality doesn't always do that
I have to just keep commenting on this video. It's so good, regarding your class in egyptology, first of all, the papyrus that Joseph claimed to have translated into the book of Abraham, he said was written by Abraham in his own hand, but any egyptologist will tell you that that papyrus was 2,000 years too new to have anything to do with biblical Abraham that is even if a biblical Abraham even existed, who knows. Another thing about egyptology is their civilizations and dynasties or whatever you want to call them all lasted through the time frame when Noah's flood was supposed to happen and they all should have been drowned in the flood which they seem to not really notice and the same thing with the Chinese. So all this historical research like this shows that Noah's ark is just a ridiculous fairy tale which the church says of course is true and the Earth had to be baptized yada yada yada. In order to believe all these ridiculous fairy tales, you literally have to commit intellectual suicide
In regarding the common ancestor of humans, in the last couple years I've heard that right-wing politicians saying that if we came from apes, why are there still apes which only shows the ignorance of the person who said it? If someone says that what you need to do is point out the fact that we have over 400 breeds of domesticated dogs, humans bred dogs for certain traits. In this over time they were able to change into the desired result. Dna analysis proves conclusively that all domesticated dogs have a common ancestor, the wolf, well then to the stupid right-wing pundit the question should be if all dogs came from wolves why do we still have wolves?
Don't forget the germ theory of disease. There's another theory that seems to be well founded scientific basis
I don't think the question. Do you believe in evolution should be asked? It's really not the right question. Biological evolution is not a belief system, viewing it is a belief system reduces it to the level of religious superstition. I believe the question should be. Do you accept the mass of scientific evidence that confirms the fact that biological evolution has occurred and continues to occur?
Thanks for sharing your story. It's kinda heartbreaking when I think about how committed I was to my missionary work, i was lucky at least to have a mission president with a little more compassion than yours, but still. There were things that I saw and experienced on my mission that are appalling to me when I think back on it now. I'm glad you made it out.
So I saw your part 4 video and saw you went to Hawaii and thought to myself I wonder if we served at the same time. Well I decided to watch part 5 and holy crap I just heard you say who your mission president was at 5:24 and I had the same one. He was my second one so I think I was there before you but maybe we had some overlap. I'm going to have to break out the zone pictures to see if you are in them somewhere. Well now I am going to have to watch a lot more of your videos to hear more of your story. Very interested in more of it. Maybe we even had some of the same companions.
@@yamadoo04snow I served from December 2002 to December 2004. Willis was my first mission president, towards the end of my mission I had President Hawkins.
@@genecurl6284 Looks like we just missed each other. I went home Nov 2002. Isn't in interesting how the mission president's can have such different views and rules even though it supposed the be the same church.
in my mission istarted doubting not the church but christianity, in mexico we dont hear mormon are pseudo christian. i stopped believing not bc joseph smith or hidden history, but bc christianity is not for me
Thank you Gene for the video. I’ve been needing to get this done and it’s good I do it now before I get re-baptized into another church. I copied your letter except I left out the saved by Grace and scripture reference. I don’t think I need to get into all that. It’s really not their concern as to why I left in the first place nor why I will never return back to their cult. I hope it’s as easy as it was for you. Wish me luck. I would imagine that ever since the birth of the internet, they have become extremely effective at removing people’s names from their membership roll:)
@@kevinsusnar7070 I’m glad the video helped.
So sad how many responses here lack proper English!! Missionaries play on the weak, poor, illegals or desperate souls.
There are no errors in the King James Bible, there are errors with the modern bibles (which all modern bible versions come from the vatican).
I did not know some of these things. I need to look more into some of those topics. I've been researching everything I can find on mormonism for the past 4 weeks because I met some LDS missionaries. Ultimately, look at it this way. The plan of salvation is the pursuit of Godhood when you enter the Celestial Kingdom, right? Isn't that what satan promised Eve in the garden?
Satan also has a tendency to change scripture too. Look at what Joseph Smith did with the JST of the Bible. Im convinced that those angels Joseph was talking to were demons in disguise.
What do you think of Christians who aren't part of the latter day saints?
While I was a member of the Church I thought that Christians were good people but misguided and that they needed saving as only the LDS Church was true. Now that I am out of the Church I am an atheist so I just view Christianity as one of the many religions on earth that I don't believe in.
Good stuff. Not all of these are hard disproofs of the BoM (some of them are...), but they are enough to get you thinking. I encourage any Mormon here to seriously look at the evidence that lines up and go against the BoM and JS teachings. Also, before you pray over Moroni 10:4, I also encourage you to look over Jeremiah 17:9. It's not always God's voice that speaks to us. Satan promises you the same thing that he promised Eve in the garden. Be wise enough not to make the same mistake twice.
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. I didn't make this video to "disprove" The Book of Mormon but rather as an explanation as to why I personally don't believe in the book, however, I do hope that it will cause others to think at least a little critically at the book instead of just taking the Church's word for it.
It's interesting that your second to last mission journal didn't indicate you didn't want to go back. Even getting special permission from your mission president to go before you went home. Hmmmmmmmm. I suspect something changes in your heart after your mission. The world can do that.
I always thought the temple was a little strange, especially my first time, but I also thought that it was a good thing to do and that I would be blessed for going to the temple. While I was active in the Church I went to the temple every chance I got and hoped it would feel more spiritual and less weird the more I went.
Mormonism is a complete farce. Show us archeological evidence of Places spoken about in book of Mormon
I no longer believe the truth claims of the Church and I left the Church years ago. I agree with you that Mormonism is a complete farce and that there is no evidence that The Book of Mormon is true.
Most correct book wasn’t meant to be understood as grammatically or editorially. And you need to revisit your claim of Native Americans don’t have a Semitic origin. Whatever you say, it’s your own choice but one day you’re going to be in the presence of the Lord to be judged by Him, with love. I’d be careful with my convictions and make sure they were right. Just a request, do more research. All your question will be addressed, because I know all those answers and it’s not hard to find.
I would argue that you yourself should also do research. Because I promise you, there is more evidence that points to the book of mormon to not be the word of God
Googled - No, Native Americans are not believed to have Semitic origins, but there is a theory that some Native Americans may be descended from the lost tribes of Israel. This theory, known as Jewish Indian theory, was popular in the 17th century and influenced Mormon beliefs... Just Ol Joe being influenced. 😮
Dude, no one cares.
Apparently you care or you wouldn’t have commented. Have a great day😊
@@genecurl6284i care:) thank you for this, it’s really interesting!!!
@@genecurl6284not Mormon but it’s super interesting to hear about the “behind the scenes” of a mission from the perspective of a kid going out and doing something so uncomfortable and bold as a mission.
Rednecks built the country. Prove me wrong.
Some have dreams, others have men to guide them to this faith or that. But for me, it all started with some thoughts. What if God is real, what if the King James Bible is true (at the time, I knew not that it was any specific bible), what if what was told of how God seeth all things, knoweth all things (even our thoughts) and all I ever did or said or thought would be made manifest and judged? What if hell is real? My faith was half, I wanted to do my own thing but have assurance of salvation. Then one day after some weeks of being half, the thought, yea this still small voice asked me saying Am I ready to commit, am I ready to give my all to the faith? It testified to me that I would suffer (I knew not of Philippians 1:29). Not mental health, but for the Lord Jesus Christ. Being reviled, spoken evil of, and being hated and unwanted. I finally gave in and inwardly said Yes. And from that day on, my life changed. Early on in my life as a born again Christian, I knew in my spirit that I needed the sure word of prophecy, yea, I needed the true words of God, yea, I seeked out the book of the LORD for to read (and believe), though in those days I knew not of Isaiah 34:16 I have been called hypocrite, I have been called a devil, I have been cast out from a place of hire, I have been wished death upon me, but knowest thou who else suffered such things? The holy prophets and apostles and disciples of the LORD, and even Jesus Christ himself. Therefore I endure the suffering, I suffer it because not only is it written in places not a few in scripture that the saints will suffer at the hand of the devil’s children, but that we shall receive rewards (gold, silver, precious stones), rule and reign with Christ in his kingdom at his coming (after the time of Jacob’s trouble, which the body of Christ will not be upon earth for). What other encouragement? Yea what other comfort I have in this faith wherein I stand? God hath shewed me that his word, the King James Bible is true by the practical and circumstantial events that have come to pass and do happen. Moreover, no deeds of the Nicolaitans (hierarchy and greater groups ruling over lesser groups), which thing the Lord Jesus Christ hateth. No cult hath this more than the mother of harlots, the whore of babylon, even roman catholicism. Thy father, from what thou hast testified of him is in hell. But whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, this is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (of whom I am chief). The Lord Jesus came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. Remember the publican in Luke 18 when he called out to God smiting his breast his breast saying God be merciful to me a sinner. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
does anyone report on there spiritual experience going to temple via you tube? that would be interesting
If there are any people who report on their spiritual experiences in the temple via RUclips I am unaware of them.
