'CLETUS' - award-winning short film about creativity & skating
CLETUS follows a young artist who is forced to develop his own unique style after moving to a rural Florida town in his teenage years. He's pulled away from his friends and community, and turns back to his art to occupy himself.
Yet, he finds a lack of fulfillment in the art style he had grown up creating, and takes a drastic leap to a whole new mindset towards his work.
Influenced by his passion for skating and desire for individuality, this transition massively changes his perspective on life, and his artwork, forever.

this is incredible man
Thank you 🙏🏻 seriously. thank you 🙏🏻
This is beautiful where do you get your music licensing from?
this isn't licensed, it's 'Preoccupied' by mac demarco, but on projects where I need copyright-free music, I use epidemic sound
@@jamesberryfilms did u get a copyright strike for this video though?
@@hadenp1 No, many songs won't give you a strike, they just don't allow you to monetize. But some record labels, specifically for huge artists, won't even let you post the video at all, like Kanye or Beatles songs have just completely stopped my video from being allowed to go live in the past.
@@jamesberryfilms gotcha, is there any way for me to know which songs would give me a strike?
@@hadenp1 just do a test upload
Wow, I really loved this James! Thank you for sharing - AOD.
Thanks Thomas!
Great work James!
What a great film!
Beautiful piece!
seeing creativity and multiple mediums collide always invokes a very raw feeling of happiness in me. i felt like i was beaming the whole time i watched this. thank you for sharing your guys talents :-) definitely a view shaping video i needed to see.
that's exactly what I made it for, glad you enjoyed the film
Amazing content and beautiful film! This is so cool.
haven't watched the whole thing but man, the line you said about learning to make art for the sake of making. I know personally I make a lot of the time for the outcome rather than the experience of making whatever I am. Learning to reconnect again. thanks for the reminder. great cinematography and art sheeesh beautiful stuff.
Hell yea i promise you’ll be able to pull ideas from yourself that haven’t been seen from anyone and that’s just cause the experiences you’ve had, and your experiences are your perspective to create. keep doing what you do forsure just know the threshold of what you make is truly in your hands
@@Cletuskills thank you this is wonderful advice ill do my best to take it on <3
Wow! This is amazing, informative and provocative!
cool.
Great video; I felt like I was there.
This is amazing, the way it tells the story, some of the shots, they just pulled me straight back to my childhood skating, staying out for way too long. Plus the shot at 5:40 felt super personal to me. I remember on hot summerdays after failing a trick too many times, just stay laying down looking at the wheels and spinning them until they stopped. Thanks for making this!
love to hear it, glad you enjoyed the film!
Hell yea glad you enjoyed g!
did the 3d printed piece help with stability?
stability of the handle staying in once piece - yes, stability of the whole camera/footage - no
This is seriously one of the best short films I have ever seen. The amount of creativity is what really makes it stand out.
Awesome piece. I love Khalil, we had a disconnect when he moved for sure. Always been a creative dude 😎
yessir his art is insane
What up rik 😎
Beautiful piece man. I love the transition from young to current with the shot looking up at the sky. What lenses as this filmed on?
a set of canon FDs from a very generous friend!
This was so freaking sick dude!!! I really loved the storytelling on this one 🙌🏽🔥
thank you!
Loved the video, I went to see it but got a full sky of clouds in New York. Onto 2026
can't control the weather haha, book the iceland flight now!
How am I just now seeing this?! Awesome info, and I greatly appreciate the shout-out! Curious how the cage worked out for you? We've made some updates in the last few months and would love feedback. (Happy to send the updated downloads if printing yourself). We are also in the process of making a metal handle diy upgrade kit. Hopefully be ready by the end of May 🤞🏻😅
0:32... coming to America..
Loved this. Thank you for sharing this ❤
Absolutely love this tutorial - it's a lifesaver! 😄 My handle broke too, and I totally agree about the build quality issues you mentioned. I'm so relieved to have found your guide. Quick question: I've noticed some interference in my handle, resulting in a high-pitched noise during recordings, and it's happened with both my Rode wireless mic and my Deity shotgun mic. I suspect it's due to my phone being in proximity (1~2m) to the camera handle, affecting the audio with radio signals. Have you experienced anything similar? 🤔
nah haven't had an issue w that
how did it break both times ?
tipped forward out of my lap while in the car and snapped against the dashboard... both times lol
I started keeping bees when i was 8 i got stung so much i became allergic so i stopped for a while then i found out about apitherapy where they densities you to bed venom by giving very small abouts of venom till they work you up to a higher dose and your no longer sinsitive to the venom its really quite amazing
friend of mine is a UCF student and during a call they told me about the Ratman and i did a ton of googling and found this documentary. absolutely fascinating stuff, love it. great job with this, fantastic!
I want to comment on your adorable approach to beekeeping where you feel for the bees and seem like me to have a discomfort if we harm bees when interacting with the bees. Some have stated that crushing some bees is inevitable but I am compelled to reduce if not eliminate thiis in my practice as well as to minimise the exposure of the bees during inspections. I'm a beekeeper of 2-3 years with a totally new hive design I'm now manufacturing along with some novel harvesting equipment I'm building to harvest Ivy honey in particular without compromising the honey through heat. Nearly all innovations come from people new to a discipline which is why I acted quickly before the issues become invisible through familiarity. I am intending to scale without harming bees. You are an inspiration for the holistic human approach to beekeeping!
that's my boyfriend 😌
Great video! Can you shoot 4k120 in SLog? Can’t find the 120p option on mine
yes, it's s&q mode
i broke mine and super glued it all together and now it doesn't turn on :( Going to use this video to open it up later on. thanks! will update
this is actually gold compared to a lot of documentaries out there today
This is genuinely amazing
James, I think you missed it. Retrace your steps because Cameron is the imposter. Waiting for part 2.
you might be on to something...
Not a documentary about rat man giving me chills 😂❤ raw talent sir Also this totally reminds me of American vandal
This is so funny I love the UCF lore
Feels like I’m watching a Netflix doc
anyone know where to get replacement screws for this thing?
yeah this piece is absolutely terrible. Not structurally sound and relatively difficult to fix, especially if you have to do it over and over. Im on my second time now.... And a replacememt is $600
it's really insane, Sony probably could've spent like an extra 25 cents per camera for better plastic but they used the shit that happy meal toys are made of
@@jamesberryfilms totally
wow i’m so glad i found this what a great film dude you got real talent keep it up man!
insane documentary
this was everything and more
Amazing.
P r o m o s m 💐
Wow. Did not expect such a well made documentary from an Instagram post
Do you know where can i find the flex cable? Mine was droped 1 feet, and broke, the cable just broken off. What a worst plastic quality
if the ribbon cable broke, you might be boned, I'm sorry for your loss and FUCK SONY
I love the editing in this documentary. So glad I found this from tik too
So well paced, I can’t wait to see what you do with a feature someday
thank you!!!
a modern masterpiece
