Many of Carrie Stevens streamers have a single band of color in the head, usually red or orange. It is sort of her signature and a bit of a debate. That said, often tiers will tie her patterns which call for a band of color in a solid color; all black or all red. Glad you like the videos! - Ian Anderson

The tool is called a bobbin. It hold the spool of thread and give you greater control on the placement and tension on the thread. - Ian Anderson

The thread I am using in the video is made by Danville and it is a 6/0 (six aught) thread size. I use a white and black colored thread ( amzn.to/3MJlK16 ). - Ian Anderson

Yes, you can. You will need to find the correct thinner for your particular cement. The cement I use is called Fly-Tite and it is an alcohol based cement. It is pretty thin straight out of the bottle but easy to thin if using the applicator bottle that I use. - Ian Anderson

The one used in this video is a Renzetti bobbin. I like the Renzetti bobbin for how it sits in my hand and the ruby ring in the tip. Much easier on the thread. - Ian Anderson

It is an interesting thought that so often we want each fly we fish to look just like the last one (that we were catching fish on!) but in nature the insects and baitfish that the fish eat do not look exactly alike each other. Many flies that are tied these days (especially those tie for the Internet, yes including mine 😁 ) tend to lean towards that "perfectionistic" side. Almost as those fly tying were a pursuit in and of itself. Part of it comes from tying (literally) thousands of flies. Your skills get better and better over time. Fortunately, fish are not so fussy, which is something I always stressed when teaching any tying classes. If the fish are refusing your fly it is not because it not Instagram ready. - Ian Anderson

It would seem at first glance. But, the repair was done over 15 years before I started working on it and the boat was used by a professional guide all that time so it really was somewhat beat up. Plus, Epoxy does not like heat and over time the epoxy starts to delaminate (I learned this through the process of working on this boat). It was just time to give it some TLC. - Ian Anderson

This one does not float. It is a nymph and the peacock is supposed to resemble the thorax and the brass wire the abdomen. I suppose you could fish it just under the surface as a sort of emerger if that is what the fish are targeting. - Ian Anderson
