Born in 2006, Melody Shen is a rising flutist from New York who began learning the flute at age 11.
Currently, she is studying with Philippe Bernold at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, where she was accepted with unanimous jury decision.
Melody has performed on prominent stages in New York, Italy, Spain, France, and the Dominican Republic.
She has won numerous awards, including 1st prize in the 2023 International Severino Gazzelloni Flute Competition Category B (ages 18-22) at 16 years old, and the Special Gold Prize at the Camerata International Artists Competition.
She has performed in the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, NYO2-USA, and was one of two flutists selected for the 2024 Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra.
She is a graduate of the Juilliard Pre-College program, where she studied with Carol Wincenc.
Melody hopes to captivate and touch audiences by sharing her multilayered personality through her music.

I’m a bass trombonist (have been a trombonist for 11 years 8 of those on bass trombone) and I rarely many flute players this age that are actually good but god dang you are incredibly good! I’m only 18 but I admire younger musicians who putting some professionals to shame in pure skill. Love from Sweden
