Meniere’s Disease (“MD”) Q&A - Professor William Gibson
I just saw ENT specialist today that my new dentist referred me to. ENT thinks it's meniere ..... All other DOCTORS have said oh its just anxiety."" Nothing is wrong and wouldn't refer me, too, too, look into it further except my dentiat that actually listened . Thankful for.him It's such a long, painful process and frustrating ... I want answers to see next step or steps to get back on track I am so frustrated with the on the off balance fullness and painful ear as well as ringing constantly , it's taking me down mentally emotionally .Im very active person but somedays im crying cause I can't balance properly . Feel like I'm gonna fall down. Im especially fristrated when i get NO answers from doctors saying. It's all good.your healthy . Its just anxiety... then im so pissed cause i know deep in my heart its something not on my head as they say.... Would.like too connect with people who struggle❤ That way, i dont feel alone and scared. Sorry if im rambling on, but im on my own.
So many thanks for sharing your story. I am diagnosed with Meniere's Disease. I am overwhelmed with information and how and where to proceed and my future well being and sanity. Just started a low sodium diet but confess I am not as diligent as I should be. Hearing your story helps me to accept and take more seriously the things I need to do. Thank you again. I hope that at this time things are going well for you with this condition.
Would love a new update!
I have delayed Meniere's Disease (Type 2). Diagnosed with SSHL 6.5 years ago and then 2 years ago, I got really bad vertigo attacks and have been getting them ever since. However, for some reasons I have Aural Fullness in both ears (for 6.5 years) even though I am deaf in one ear only and have tinnitus in the that same ear. I tried SERC for 6 months to know effect. Sibelium (flunarizine) for 6 months with no effect. I had 9 single shot Dexamethasone injections (10 mg). In the begininng I was getting 4 weeks to 4 months remission and in the past 3 injections, they don't seem to be working anymore. I am at a lost. I went to 3 ENT Doctors who said I have Meniere's Disease. I went to 3 Neurologists, 2 of which said I have Meniere's and one said it was Vestibular Migrane. Would you have any advice as to what I can do next?
Were you checked for hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism?
I have had Meniere's Disease for 15 years now it's so hard to live with 😟
My husband got a CI 6 months ago and has had vertigo since then. No help from the surgeon, PT, audiologists or any other doctor. No one knows or doesn't want to say what is wrong. "Minimal damage" in your dreams...
I had some very similar experiences. Thank you for sharing.
‘‘I am not only happy am alive but also glad that "DrMadida" was able treat and cure me with his herbal medication of my parosmia, Meniere disease and Parkinson disease(PD) with their herbal treatment. My smile is so bright because I am happy 😊😊😊.’’
My story largely mirrors Kates and i suffered for about 20 years . Long story short i eventually was introduced to professor Black here in Brisbane .He diagnosed Menieres and gave me a gentamician injection. This worked immediately after 20 years of horror. After about 9 months i started experiencing some dizzyness.Went back for a second injection and so far so good after 1.5 years from my initial injection.Downside is loss of some hearing after each injection and i retain only about 30% hearing in the impacted L ear.. This is so much better than my life was prior to gentacimin injections.
thank you for sharing, it really help..
Thanks Laura! Very helpful..
Thanks for sharing your story Jenny. Of course I’m here because I just spent the past weekend in the hospital from severe vertigo attack all day Saturday. My son was playing a conference championship game for college which I attended but I wasn’t able to watch it at all because I was spinning and vomiting the whole time. Went to emergency room after game got a cat scan, MRI and spent 2 days in hospital with dizziness and couldn’t walk straight. Couldn’t leave until ENT came in to see me. Did eye test and had bad nystagmus and unbalance. He prescribed oral steroid and nausea medicine. This is Wednesday and I’m seeing ENT at his clinic today for audiogram test (as far as I can tell I don’t think I lost any hearing yet) hopefully they can figure it out. I’m 51 yrs and have a physical job 10-15k steps a day. Now I can’t walk in my house without the walls and chairs to guide me through. Hopefully they can figure out a treatment plan for my condition. Seems like people have different symptoms from this. I’ve been having constant dizziness but the fast spinning vertigo isn’t there since Saturday but I don’t have tinnitus luckily, don’t have headaches or bad nausea since I have an anti nausea patch. Thanks again for sharing. Tim
Hi Tim, I am sorry you are having a hard time with MD at the moment. One of the tricky things about it is that we all experience it so differently, and not all meds work for everyone. I hope you start to feel better soon, Jenny
I am from Canada and suffer from unilateral Meniere's. I am completely deaf in the Meniere's ear. I am scheduled for CI assessment. I learnt a lot from Prof. Gibson's lecture and the question and answer session. Thanks you very much. - May 2024.
26:18 : You say that the "damage to the balance organs is also minimal". And then go on to say that the "maximum damage" was in 17% of the cases studied. Does that no mean that "less than maximum" damage occurred in many other cases? That would amount to a significant percentage of cases where damage occurred for the balance organs due to CI surgery. So, it is NOT minimal. Can you clarify?
has anyone ever remarked about the change of weather (higher temperatures) triggering an episode?
I have cervical spondylitis and have had a clicking jaw all of my life. I also have eye floaters and menieres. Are these all related?
Would love to hear more on this. Thank you.
Thank you so much! This is very helpful and enlightening for me.
Dr Jaffri is my ENT here in Perth, a very interesting study!
Watching from India, West Bengal. Hope this works and you find a cure for this disease.
Thank you!👏👏👏
You have just described me 100%
Leave animals alone ye assholes
Dr madida treated me 3 years ago in USA 🇱🇷🇱🇷with his herbal medicine he sent me for Tinnitus. The medicine really works fast and healthy with no side effect that I can account for, and it cured me totally with no trace of Tinnitus in me again🤗🤗
Amazing Dr

How come nobody addresses barometric pressure and this. Have had menieres disease almost 40 years. Was told fluctuation in temperature and pressure also causes my dizziness
Hi I've just been diagnosed today, 😞I've also got chairi malformation and I've been battling this for two years with chronic headaches and vision disturbances also.. I really feel defeated to have this news on top...
Hi, Sorry to hear about this, you have a lot on your plate and the last thing you need is MD. Thankfully they are doing quite a bit of research now, here is Australia, and also in other parts of the world, so I am hopeful that there will be better treatments in the next decade. Take care, Jenny
Never pray you have Tinnitus condition because it is a great torment, I can’t sleep at night. I am very happy and grateful to Dr Madida whom gave me a herbal remedy that help me cure my Tinnitus condition, now I can sleep comfortably and live my normal life without any disturbance inside ears.
My sister is 32 years old and she has suffered from meniere disease for years and she always complains to me that I had to bought her #DrMadida herbs🌿 I saw on RUclips and she is telling me last month that she is cured completely and don’t long have the symptoms like vertigo or dizziness, feeling of fullness in the ear or ringing, hearing loss, imbalance, motion sickness, nausea, or nystagmus..

Thank you Jenny for outlining your journey dealing with Meniere’s. I know you possibly posted it 2 + years ago but I am delighted to have come across it. I am 67, living in Ireland and have just I suffered my first ever experience of what you have fully described. Most of the posts don’t seem to mention fully the dire range of sensations such as not only the dizziness, but the collapsing, full and immediate leg loss and total inability to walk due to these. I was fortunate that between my doctor and wife they managed to get me to our local A&E where I began a lengthy process of examination and surveillance. I was released from hospital last Friday evening and I am slowly regaining my balance but I have not regained hearing in my right ear - yet. Hearing tests were completed earlier this week and I will shortly conclude my series of meds. I take great comfort from your post that the future might be somewhat a somewhat straightforward road for me having the benefit of the learnings you have shared. Very much appreciate you having taken the trouble to explained your experiences so well. Hope all is going as well as possible for you now. Best regards. Gordon
Hi Gordon, I hope you are getting on okay now and have had some results back and possibly further treatment if necessary. Good luck with your journey, Jenny
Yesterday i have gentamicin injection for miniere. So far nothing change, no pain and doctor suggested me to continue betahistine
Thank you Dr. Brown for your research. I understand a cure, if it ever occurs, will probably be too late for me but I think you are on the right track as to autoimmune syndrome. I first experienced Menerie's Disease at age 15 and I'm 80 now so it has been a 65 years, long term scourge. For me it has always been bilateral. I overcame the initial vertigo by body gravity feed back balance. The tinnitus I managed by simply ignoring it, with a life of background organ music you might say. It's the hearing loss that has been most difficult to live with and while there were times it was less drastic, it has always been there and you might say I faked my way through life's conversations. The greatest invention, to me, is not the wheel, it's closed captions. Now in old age my hearing remains drastically low and I "pass" with a strong German hearing aid and the understanding that 95% of what people say is blather anyway. Despite the scrounge of Menerie's I've enjoyed a successful life economically, physically and emotionally with wife of 53 years, kids, grand kids and wide range of experiences from travel to working, including my own business for 30 years with many employees. My success, despite Meneire's, is probably due to my extreme level of innate competitiveness. I recently told my younger brother it was probably best I was mostly deaf in life as it kept my competitiveness in check. Best of luck on your research. Jim Brown, Independence, Oregon, USA
I might have Meniere's disease without vertigo (so described by my neurotologist). I have sudden sensorineural hearing loss (one ear) in lower frequencies, loud high whistling tinnitus, and a feeling and sound of a large underwater bubble in one ear when I shake my head, but I don't have spinning vertigo. Can hearing aids help? What else could be helpful? Could Cochlear Hydrops be caused by drug side effects?
I need to act on some kind of solution. I just don’t know what will work. I rather be deaf than have Mainers attacks. What would be my best choice?
That was great information!!! I was just diagnosed two months ago. I’m so disappointed and angry all at the same time. I just got married. We love to travel short and long trips. My Husband is retiring soon and we had all this plans. Now I’m just so disappointed and scared of what my future holds.
Is having a dental implant in the lower jaw potentially problematic for those people who suffer from chronic dizziness?
Please , please ,please keep researching I’m praying you and your colleagues find a cure. Hopefully sooner than later 🙏🏻
Where does PPPD fit into any of these new possible surgeries? Will it stop? Thank you.
Thanks for explanation. Dr. Suggesed me gentamicin
How can I find a dr near me for treatment
Aww man😢!!! NO CLOSED CAPTIONS!!! Miniers has totally taken 99% of my hearing. I so wish I could read ot hear this to follow along...
I have found out that when a creator posts a video on RUclips that oftentimes it takes sometimes a 1/2 an hour or linger for the closed caption to catch up. I checked a while after and it was available. I am greatful! Thank you for the video!
I wish my doctors had some answers. They process me like the are lookingb for anything but. Live in City...surely thete is Dr. out there with more Knowledge. So far they are just ocassionarlly shooting something in arm that I don't see any results other than the ever hauinting excema which will temperarely slow down for a month b4 it takes off agsin.
