A Video about Pokémon Home Challenges
Finally decided to get this video out of the way, it was a request from over a year ago. While the original idea was to explain how to complete most of the challenges, most of them are very self-explanatory, so this is more about organising them.

    On alternate forms, here's a list I compiled using HOME's own pokedex, compiled (mostly) before watching the form section of the video so may have some repeat information. Might also have some errors, but I double-checked a lot of this with my second profile. There are 421 total alternate forms recognized by HOME that and are included as separate entries in the Mobile version's Pokedex when the "All Forms" Form filter is active (1446 forms with the filter, minus the 1025 pokemon without the filter). The following categories/notable forms will each have a count of forms in that category, and if applicable they will subtract one original form (or arbitrarily chosen form if there's not strictly an original) of each species, and without overlap of forms between categories. Mega Evolutions are automatically registered when the base form is deposited. [48 forms, 1 unavailable on Switch: Mega Diancie] Gigantamax forms requires the base form with the Gigantamax factor to be deposited. Toxtricity has two registered GMax forms that both show up under the "All Forms" filter, though only one GMax factor Toxtricity needs to be deposited for both to register and only one is visible in the Switch version's Pokedex. GMax Factor can be obtained in Isle of Armor by feeding an eligible pokemon Max Soup, with the exception of Melmetal (whose GMax form is available from the HOME prize you mentioned, and isn't available under your rules either way), but the otherwise event-exclusive GMax Meowth is still available. Eternamax Eternatus is is registered by depositing any Eternatus with no additional requirements. [35 forms, 1 unavailable on Switch: GMax Melmetal] Regional Variants must be deposited separately from their base forms to register. Pokemon counted will appear under the "Alolan Form," "Galarian Form," "Hisuian Form," and "Paldean Form" filters, which includes White-Stripe Basculin and Blaze- and Aqua-Breed Tauros, despite their forms not following the same naming scheme as the rest. [59 forms, all available on Switch] Alcremie register based on their flavor, and depositing one Alcremie will register all seven forms of that flavor at once, even if you've never deposited any Alcremie with different sweets. [62 forms, all available on Switch] Minior's Meteor Form is registered by depositing any color of Minior, but the 7 different colored of Core forms need to be deposited separately in order to register. [7 forms, all available on Switch] Gender differences are not recognized as separate forms, and are automatically registered so long as you have deposited one individual of the species regardless of their gender. Meowtic, Indeedee, Basculegion, and Oinkalogne are exceptions, as they have differences is moves, abilities, and/or other stats rather than just a different appearance. Each gender of these four needs to be deposited separately in order to register. [4 forms, all available on Switch] Fusion forms (Black/White Kyurem, Dawn Wings/Dusk Mane Necozma, Ice/Shadow Rider Calyrex) are automatically registered as long as both of the component species are registered. The components need not be deposited at the same time. Ultra Necrozma is registered automatically as long as at least one of Necrozma's fusion forms is registered. [7 forms, all available on Switch] Ash Greninja is registered by depositing a Battle Bond Greninja, and Zygarde (Complete Form) is registered by depositing Power Constuct Zygarde (of either 10% or 50% forms) [2 forms, 1 unavailable on Switch: Ash Greninja] Non-persistent and held item dependent forms usually register automatically so long as any form is deposited. These include: Castform (Sunny, Rainy, Snowy Forms), Primal Kyogre and Groudon, Cherrim (Sunshine Form), the Origin forms of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, all 17 Plate-based Arceus forms, Darmanitan's and Galarian Darmanitan's Zen Mode (even if you never deposit one with its Hidden Ability), Meloetta (Pirouette Form), Genesect (Shock, Douse, Burn, and Chill Drives), Aegislash (Blade Form), Xerneas (Active Mode), Wishiwashi (School Form), All 17 Memory-based Silvally forms, Mimikyu (Busted Form), Cramorant (Gulping and Gorging forms), Eiscue (Noice Face), Zacian (Crowned Sword), Zamazenta (Crowned Shield), Palafin (Hero Form), Ogerpon (Wellspring, Hearthflame, and Cornerstone Masks), and Terapagos (Terastal and Stellar forms) [65 forms, 4 unavailable on Switch: Genesect's drives] More forms which require being individually deposited include: All Cap Pikachu, all Unown letters, all Deoxys forms, all Burmy and Wormadam cloaks, both forms of Shellos and Gastrodon, all Rotom appliances, Shaymin (Sky Form), both Basculin stripes, all Deerling and Sawsbuck seasons, the Therian forms of Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, and Enamorus, Keldeo (Resolute), all Vivillon patterns, all colors of Flabebe, Floette, and Florges (not including Eternal Flotette), all Furfrou trims, all sizes of Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist, Zygarde (10% form), Hoopa (Unbound), all Oricorio styles, all Lycanroc forms, Magearna (Original Color), both Toxtricity forms, Antique Sinistea and Polteageist, both forms of Urshifu, Dada Zarude, Bloodmoon Ursaluna, Maushold (Family of Three), all Sqwakabilly colors, all Tatsugiri forms, Dudunsparce (Three-Segment), Gimmighoul (Roaming), Artisan Poltchageist, and Masterpiece Sinistea. [132 forms, 25 unavailable on Switch: Cap Pikachu, Deoxys forms, Pokeball Vivillon, Furfrou, Hoopa, Magearna, Zarude, and Roaming Gimmighoul. 18 more are unavailable if you exclude any and all GO connectivity rather than just GO-transferred pokemon: Vivillon's non-Fancy forms] Despite not appearing in the "All Forms" filter, Battle Bond Greninja (separate from Ash Greninja) and Own Tempo Rockruff appear as separate forms on the Mobile version but not the Switch version of HOME. This is likely to show that the abilities cannot be obtained through normal means, including the use of Ability Capsules and Patches. Interestingly, Zygarde 10% and 50% only show Aura Break as available abilities, and don't have a separate Power Construct entry. Both Battle Bond Greninja and Own Tempo Rockruff need to be deposited separate from other Greninja or Rockruff to register these forms. Mothim, Scatterbug, and Spwepa also have technical forms depending on which forms they evolved from or will evolve into, but none of these are considered separate by HOME (though in an earlier version, specifically Spewpa which evolves into Icy Snow Vivillon would have a different sprite, but this was patched). Shiny Forms are not counted in the "All Forms" filter, but each shiny alternate form usually has the same registration requirements as the non-shiny forms, with two notable exceptions that I'm aware of. Fusion forms need only the fusion base's shiny (Kyurem, Necrozma, Calyrex) to have their fusion form shinies registered. Battle Bond Greninja and Own Tempo Rockruff register their shiny forms from any deposited shiny Greninja or Rockruff so long as you've registered the non-shiny forms (does not apply to Ash Greninja). Not counting shiny forms, that gives a total of 373/423 alternate forms obtainable on Switch, including those two which don't appear under the "All Forms" filter.

      There also appear to be 11 moves unaccounted for, as setting a filter in the move dex will show a total of 827 moves rather than 816. One of those appears to be Celebrate, which I notice missing from your list of unobtainable moves at 13:40

    For the Pokeball challenges, remember that you can pass down pokeballs through breeding, all except the Legends: Arceus balls and the Master Ball. It helps immensely with getting 30 of each of the apricorn balls, Beast Ball, and Sport Ball. I'm fairly certain most of the box legendary challenges, in particular the "Deposit Solgaleo/Lunala from Sun or Moon," "Deposit Solgaleo/Lunala and Necrozma from Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon" "Deposit Reshiram/Zekrom from Black or White," and "Deposit Reshiram/Zekrom and Kyurmem from Black 2 or White 2" challenges will accept any of the legends from that generation, not just the specific games. I've completed all of them an only have one of each of Reshiram, Zekrom, Lunala, and Solgaleo transferred from pre-Switch games. Bulbapedia lists the Jumbo/Mini Mark challenge as having a Bronze/Silver/Gold needing 1/5/10, but there's only a single level of the challenge in HOME. It should only need one of each. EDIT: I tested with my second profile, and it indeed does need just one of each.

  • @portwise23
    @portwise23 24 дня назад

    The Jumbo Mark and Mini Mark challenge is asking for 10 total, of either mark. You can easily do this by catching Alpha Pokemon in Legends Arceus, then moving them into Scarlet and Violet to rate their sizes and give them the Jumbo Mark. Also, any pokemon that was transferred into Legends Arceus before a certain date/update would be locked to the minimum size, and eligible for the mini mark. The 7 star raid for Mightiest Mark Typhlosion also had minimum size, though the rest of them are locked to exactly average size. And finally, the titan pokemon that you can catch in Scarlet and Violet also have the max size.

      @TheRedSmarty 23 дня назад

      Where is this 10 number coming from? I don't see it anywhere on the mobile app, it displays as a single-tier Challenge without any numbers. I just understood it as depositing one of each because of that and the single corresponding Sticker. Edit: So Bulbapedia says it goes 1, 5, and 10, which is the source of the screenshots in the video so you two probably saw it there. I just deposited every Former Titan after granting them Jumbo Marks and I didn't get anything, I think Bulbapedia made a mistake.

    • @TheRedSmarty
      @TheRedSmarty 22 дня назад

      Follwing up on my previous reply, I managed to get a Mini Mark Magnemite and deposited it alone with the Former Titan Iron Treads (and an irrelevant Spinda), and that was enough to complete the Challenge. It's just 1 of each Mark.

    Some notes: * Some of these challenges were made easier than others over time. Because the majority of HOME's Challenges were made with base Sword and Shield as the most recent games, stuff like the Sport Ball challenge was one of the hardest, as the Sport Ball at the time was only available in HGSS's Bug Catching Contest. Likewise, in 10:16, it's 18 and not 20 Vivillon Patterns is because Fancy and Poke Ball Pattern were event only at the time, and the latter still is. * 10:05 This is still technically "all the forms", as the Meteor Form of Minior is not depositable to HOME. It'll still register if if you deposit any Minior, but Meteor Form doesn't count because it's unable to be counted. * The challenges that mention Starters and Legendaries from specific games are because of their games' respective box arts are the rewards for those challenges. * Some challenges, those being "Move a Pokemon from Bank", "Register XY Diancie", "Register Pulverizing Snorlax", "Register Eevee and Litwick from Unova", and "Deposit 10 Pokemon in the Wonder Box", were made to be optional challenges since the 3DS online shutdown, as those require the use of Pokemon Bank; therefore, those challenges are not required to 100% Pokemon HOME. Why this didn't extend to the box art challenges given the way to obtain them is beyond me. * 12:51 The Unova Eevee and Unova Litwick challenges have a C-Gear skin reward, which is why they specifically have to come from Unova. * 13:20 It's a simple reason why it's BDSP Bidoof, Bibarel, and Staraptor: These three specifically are used to use the field move HMs. * 16:03 Meloetta and Shaymin were event-only when the challenges were made. Ogerpon, Pecharunt, and Terapagos are SV DLC only Pokemon, and the challenge is probably like that assuming they're never going to be released in any future game. Shiny Genesect was originally a Japanese-only Gen 5 event Pokemon, one of the most difficult challenges to complete when HOME was new, emphasized by the reward being a C-Gear skin. Nowadays, GO exists for it. Shiny Metagross if I'm not mistaken was made with the ORAS demo in mind. * 18:33 I'm pretty sure I don't have a single Pokemon aside from Mightiest Typhlosion that has the Mini Mark (and I think I already cleared that challenge beforehand), so I'm preeeeetty sure it's a combination of both. IDR. Plus, Jumbo Marks are rather easy, as Alpha Pokemon automatically count for Jumbo. * 18:50 Let's talk about the Mightest Mark. That challenge for some reason is bugged. If you register a Pokemon with the Mightest Mark, the challenge will register as both completed and not completed. You'll get the reward for it, but the challenge will have a bronze medal instead of a rainbow medal, and will appear as not completed when you sort the challenges by Grade. I tried asking Support for this, but they said to clear the cache, but last time I cleared the cache in HOME, some challenges were reset, probably including the Mightest Mark one. * Fun fact, but the Twinkling Star Ribbon was my last challenge to be completed before the final boss of Pokemon HOME. * Speaking of, and you didn't mention this because it's not a Pokemon challenge, but a Trade one, but what I call the final boss of Pokemon HOME is the "Have a Trade Room with 20 people in it!" challenge. This is the most difficult challenge, and the most likely last challenge HOME completionists will attempt, as keeping 20 people in one trade room using the free trade rooms is next to impossible, as the trade rooms can randomly kick people and some people will show off shinies and dip at the last second. That was why I, someone with no clout, did a series of streams earlier this year specifically so people can complete that challenge. * 21:15 Depositing 300 Pokemon is easy. Let's not lie about it. If anyone has any interest in the HOME challenges, depositing less Pokemon than the base SwSh or base SV Pokedexes is basically automatic. Also, you'd probably already have the premium plan for HOME if you're attempting this anyway, since a good chunk of the challenges that require depositing certain typed Pokemon already exceed the basic box.

  • @lasercraft32
    @lasercraft32 25 дней назад

    I hate how many of the challenges are pay-to-win. You are unable to transfer Pokemon from older games without paying for the premium subscription (as well as the subscription for Pokemon Bank on top of it, which might not be around forever) and that's a majority of the challenges. So either you have to pay up, own a ton of older games, and transfer them, OR you have to know people who have done that and slowly and painstakingly trade over Pokemon until you have the ones needed.

    • @ElPikminMaster
      @ElPikminMaster 25 дней назад

      It's really just the HOME Premium Plan. Pokemon Bank since the 3DS online shutdown has become free. Also, a few challenges that specifically require the use of Pokemon Bank have become optional, as those are not shown to the player anymore until they're unlocked. The ones that remain are mainly the box art challenges.

    I feel like using a 6' tall adult is unfair. In the anime, Ash is meant to be 4'7", and while he is short in that setting, he isn't crazily so. This is because most trainers in the games and anime (that we meet) are under 15. As a consequence, mons that are meant to be carryable (like Raichu, although that is pushing it a little bit) can only be so large, since a lot of trainers are 5'. Also since they are meant to be sort of like pets, only the really big ones should be bigger than people. The real wacko thing is the weights. Wailord is heavier than air... but only just.

    • @ReshiramsTrainer

      That is definitely a fair point, the idea that a lot of Pokémon are meant to be more like pets (and thus small) was a thought that crossed my mind, though I chose to ignore it. While I'm probably not going to change anything going forward for the sack of consistency (and partial laziness), I'll almost certainly bring this up if/when I make a follow-up for Johto. Thanks for the feedback.

    Good video, looking forward for more in this series, idea: add meters to the scale chart to be a bit more readable for international viewers

    Great idea for avidei, a smaller Golbat will make Crobat less ackward.

    1:45 Some Pokédexes have height check/comparison features, with the most recent ones being from BD/SP and the mobile version of Pokémon HOME, so you can use them to determine how different Pokémon are measured and directly see what their true average scale looks like. (Though I know of one oddity: HOME scales appliance Rotom with the same size as the appliances, rather than how it actually appears to work by the Pokédex's listed height as well as what is depicted by BD/SP's Height Check and games that semi-more accurately show scale like Legends: Arceus and S/V. So HOME isn't perfect but it should still be useful enough.)

      To me, it looks like both of these Pokédexes show Golbat a bit smaller than how you show it. I'm guessing the "height" represents wingspan there.

      I've also heard the argument that some Pokémon have it measured by wingspan, though I've also seen a lot of people say that the Pokémon really are just that big, it could be a case to case basis for all I know, though it is worth mentioning that the heights on the height chart aren't 100% accurate, as I made them myself, and it can be hard to determine how Pokémon are measured, like, are they measured to the top of there head, are they counting horns, are they counting hair, etc. and since I was using the official art, things like the Pokémon's pose & angle make it hard to determine whether the size is accurate or not (Nidoking for example). As for Pokémon height check feature, I was aware of this, but I never really consider it accurate, though I haven't used it in over 2 years, so it might be worth looking at again if/when a make a follow-up for Johto. Thanks for the feedback though.

      @@ReshiramsTrainer Something I have heard from modders and observed myself is that the Pokémon models are their true scale by default and rescaled by the game depending on the situation. The BD/SP Height Check displays the models, so there's not much reason for that one to be inaccurate. If anything seems especially weird with the checkers, Scarlet/Violet is accurate for Pokémon up to a certain size, though you have to deal with the 80%-120% size variation.

    07:10 Mostly Gen 5 I see. Thankfully we get Legends EZ which likely means those dex entries can be filled in as well.
