Not Your Average Wife, Amelia Pushelberg here! I created this channel to showcase some handy skills I have picked up from self teaching to learning from others.
In the span of 1.5 years I have repainted my entire house from top to bottom, replaced light fixtures, repainted my kitchen cabinets and fireplace, taken off lots of wall paper, painted the outside of my garage and windows and various other little projects that I am proud of!
This channel will feature everything I do myself from house projects to working on my car, a 2009 E88 BMW 135i N54.
Having these handy skills makes me unique of not being the "Average Wife". Now a days, no wife is labelled "average" so I encourage you to explore areas outside of your comfort zone to find out what makes YOU, not the "Average Wife"!

Thanks for the video! A couple tips: Get a much bigger pan. Don't open the cap until the end so the oil doesn't shoot out as much (especially on these the oil can shoot out all over the plastic underbody cover and make a total mess...ask me how I know ;-). Do an oil analysis at least occasionally. Buy a Valvomax valve for oil changes...super nice and easy, especially for this car. Then you don't need a bigger pan ;-)
It’s been 15 minutes and I just can’t turn the second on😅
I’m getting an adaptive headlight warning light immediately after installing these. Do these cause that? Or is the ballast somehow interfering with the adaptive headlight functionality

my relocated inlets & expansion tank had me punching the air, such a PITA to get to
taking those covers off was tough! on the passenger side light (128i) my dad and I had to really push on the AC tubes that are on the interior side. We didn't break or bend them. I also had to loosen the top three headlight assembly screws (one is hidden down a hole close to the fender) That let me move the assembly fwd a bit. On the drivers side, I had to undo two of the airbox screws to get it out of the way (didn't totally remove it) thanks for the video!

I know i hate touching stuff, but in this scenario i think you should've taken your gloves off and it would've been easier. Good job tho, i can actually put mine on, well at least i think so.

NEVER put your new filter on your dirty car
For future reference.., you do NOT have to continue holding tools in your hand, once you’ve removed the screws/bolts from parts. Free your hands, by placing the tools aside, so you’ll be able to remove parts with ease.

Fantastic review, i just purchased my 17 year old daughter her first car, an E87 Hatch, with original factory lights. Frankly they are terrible so I will be changing to LEDs, Ive watched around 50 RUclips instruction reviews on how to do the swap on. I found your review the most detailed & simply to understand. Putting those damn headlight covers back on is almost impossible! I had to take my whole bumper off so I could remove the damn headlights to put the covers on . Damn you BMW!
Yep. I had to take the wheel off and that big plastic panel in the wheel well to get to the damned thing. Bit easier than taking the bumper off maybe. I learned about that method when I had to change out my ballast. I was amazed to find myself behind the light with lots of access, and to see that the bottom of that cover wasnt sitting right. Which probably why my ballast went bad, because if you dont get that cover on right water gets in there. Awful design imo.

Your engine oil seems a bit too dark. I would recomend to change sooner, or let the engine properly warm up before going full pedal
I did this on my 08 135 convertible, Sometimes the wires and other crap gets caught up on the adaptive lights
Now that they have been in for a while how have the bulbs worked out? any issues ? looking to change mine in my Ontario 09 135i e88
No issues and they still work great :)! I definitely recommend changing them if you want the look of the white vs. the amber lights. Its a cheap and easy fix

Why didn't you use a small foam roller to paint the cabinets? :)
i was already using the brush to do the edging so i figured i'd just use the brush again. I actually did end up using a roller for the 3rd coat though
