    I have made comments on other RUclips videos that stated, there are way to many black belts. When I was a blue belt 2 stripe I rolled with brown and black belts that could not submit me. In some cases I could submit them. So I bean to question what is a black belt. If he is black and I am blue I can spend 6 more years to be at that sad level.

    I totally agree with you. I'm currently in a school that does attendance stripes, and a belt test. I'm coming up to my belt test and honestly, I need more time; I'm sure I'll get through the test but it's still going to be an early promotion. This is my second time starting BJJ and the first time, getting the call over for my first stripe randomly felt fantastic and it really is a bit of a letdown to just get them via attendance. I think I know why schools are doing it, same reason you're discussing, people want to feel like they're making progress and so maybe for white belt you give the first two stripes off of attendance to give someone that mental encouragement for acknowledging that they've showed up, but after that I think you need to drop it. Absolutely some schools go to far with subjective stripe and belt criteria, so I think when it comes to belts, you should have objective criteria, and not just a test which you can train for, but something a little more holistic. I'll be a blue belt soon, but it's not going to feel the way I want it to feel. Despite this, my school/academy is one of the best in the region and I will get better, but if I'm being honest, I'm probably a 2.5 or 3 stripe white belt, not 4. Not Yet.

    • @Hereweare75
      @Hereweare75 2 месяца назад

      Testing is a entirely different thing. That can be a money grab in itself. A gifted student can be pushed to test early and that is perfectly fine. In other martial arts I tested earlier than everyone, and that’s because I picked up things fast and practiced 24/7. For some. They aren’t ready and are pushed to take a test, expecting to fail, so they can make more off the student. I have seen that too, in other martial arts. In BJJ testing can be a double edged sword. It can be good for the school and bad for the student and vice versa. Class performance on the mat doesn’t lie. It’s the most honest thing in BJJ. 👍🏼🥋

      You might not realize that maybe you’re doing better than you think. When you first start, the blue belts smash you and seem like gods. Once you get to purple you realize that new blue belts usually don’t know shit.

But I was going twice a week damaging my body to some level almost everytime- Is it enjoyable really? To grapple with smelly sweaty dudes? Really? Gross bruh. If you need self defense learn to use a weapon and keep it by you. A gun will beat a mma fighter 99% of the time. Other than that learn to deescalate aggressive situation. Get ripped and strong. Learn the basics of fighting/self defense and leave it at that' don't get into going every week for a pointless MMA training. Waste of time.

    5:30 is the reason a lot of people check out of BJJ. With how difficult life is getting, it seems like a hobby for the privileged who can afford to get injured. One major injury turns your entire life upside down for the better part of a year and it's never the same. If you have kids to take care of, training striking or boxing seems like a much safer and practical hobby 😅

      @@user-vc6 Judo is more dangerous for the impact, since it's focus is throwing. BJJ is 10x more dangerous because of everything else. It is too much to get into via typing. None of the grappling arts are safe, they are the most damaging to the body, especially to older adults.. That is the easiest way to put it. Take up a striking arts that don't involve sparring or a martial art that focuses on weapons like Kali, if you want to avoid injuries.

    Millions and millions of people are outraged and condemning and boycotting the Olympics now! I would hate to think what the ending ceremony will be like if it’s just as demonic as the opening ceremony, but it should be condemned and boycotted. A biological male xy bone structure, muscle density, faster muscle twitch/reflex, etc… I agree, no matter how much female hormones he would’ve taken he will still be stronger and faster. She knew from the first punch it was vastly different than a biological female and he could possibly kill her, so she rightfully immediately stopped the fight. My heart breaks for her! I pray GOD blesses her and any other female who was forced to compete against a biological male in this many fold. Imo any biological male competing against a biological female in any physical event is the epitome of COWARD and it should be outlawed. Real men fight men. You’re right, if they are going to allow “trans” athletes then they should have their own category and compete trans male to trans male OR trans female to trans female. Good video! Peace ❤

It preserves the information and techniques from the discipline it may be? Even if you don't train and compete or fight and really grasp the practical someone can preserve the theoretical to always go back to.

    It's really unfortunate what happened to Karate. It's foundation was Okinawan wrestling (called Tegumi) with striking added later, but then when it went to Japan, the Japanese only focused on the striking (because they already had Judo, Sumo, etc) and changed the range from the original grappling clinch range to farther out, and they jettisoned the grappling, so now no one knows what all those "funky" moves in kata are for. And it's the Japanese version that got exported around the world, and even backwards influenced how karate is done even on Okinawa in some of the schools. Originally, every young kid came to karate already knowing at least basic Tegumi, which was stand up grappling like Sumo, or Judo without the groundwork, so the striking was added after to complete it.
